i broke my ankle 8 weeks ago, and had the surgery(9 titanium screws, 1 plate) done while i was concious(they had to anesthese me via my spine because i had eaten shortly before the accident!) that experience was VERY interesting, just what i ever wanted... LOL! the way he used his pain for ''playing'' mourning for the hobbits is great!
That's freaking scary! I would turn into a freaking nervous wreck, screaming and crying and all that! But no! Kudos to you for being able to come out of that without freakng the hell out Viggo, and I'm glad you're okay.
Elijah is basically me. Any sort of injury or physiological abnormality, I’m just right there going, “oh wow, that’s so cool!” Heck, I even do it when I’m cooking. I just like seeing how stuff works, how it goes together.
He has said in interviews, that he has turned down a lot of big blockbuster movies, because he wants to do parts, that really speak to him. The only reason he did LOTR was because his son is a huge fan of the books.
I think the prosthetic hobbit foot was probably pretty tight against his real foot and it may have gone a little numb. If you've ever worn ski boots you'll know what I mean.
I had pretty much the same thing happen a long time ago when I jumped off a stage and a glass shard lodged straight through my shoe in to my heel. I instantly felt it, but I could still kind of walk/limp outside and sit down. The severity hit me when I took off my shoe and saw the blood soaked sock.
@@pulguinha682 Probably not unless it hits somewhere like the eye or maybe the throat, but concussions are no laughing matter either, they can cause lifelong problems.
@@neonsolace2748 The most interesting part of that scene in Django is that when he put his blood on the actress’ face, it was improv. So the scream she gives was of genuine horror and disgust.
@@SupremeLordJoe There is no way that there was real blood on her face. First it is not safe and would probably be in violation of some code of conduct. Second that scene is very long, how likely is it that they got the perfect scene in one take? No clearly he continued with the scene for some time with the injury until Tarantino cut the scene. Then he got his bandade and/or stitches. Tarantino like the addition and got some fake blood for him for the shoot the day after. Fake blood was put on the actress face
@@Lotselanceyes but those are stunts, and injuries from those are expected. No one expects to fracture your toes and then turning that into a performance of a lifetime.
It's really a pity they didn't credit Brett or show him as much as the rest of the cast, especially considering he created at least half the character of Gimli. He even got the Fellowship tattoo, and John Rhys-Davies didn't!
These actors really seemed like they were invested for the long haul and they really carred about how everything looked and endured pain just for that, and to this day it is an absolute masterpiece
Okay, I can take near drowning and broken toes. But what I cannot take ever is a sharp glass going into your foot. That's horrible and it's one of my worst fears.
It happened with me once i was a kid, strange is, with me it didn't hurt, i didn't feel the pain, 1 minute later i fainted because of blood loss, the medics said it was because of adrenaline that i didn't feel the pain, but damn, i got the scar till this day.
As a kid I walked ontop coals and into and through flames. I mean real 2-3 foot tall flames from gasoline. A circle of flame enveloped me and was closing in on me. I was maybe 4 or 5 or something. I remember deciding I don't have a choice and I ran through it. Oh and I was BARE FOOT. LIKE A FREAKING HOBBIT. (Only tall because I was always tall) So yeah, running bare feet through live flames and coals. I actually didn't eastnot cry much and my parents and family were all in a fuss. Lol funny crazy memory
@@muatring omg same. I didn't feel anything until I noticed a few seconds later when I saw blood everywhere. It started to hurt after a few minutes tho
I can imagine how piercing and painful a shard of glass would feel through my foot. I can't believe there was glass in the water there. How did that glass get down there?
I have to give props to Viggo for filming that water scene despite nearly drowning. One time, I was swimming in the ocean and a rogue wave hit me. I was dragged under and almost drowned until I pulled myself back up and made my way back to the shore, coughing and sputtering the whole way. I remember crying and panicking when I hit the sand. To this day, I don’t like swimming in the ocean. I’ll just swim in a pool where I won’t get hit by any waves.
I felt Sean's pain literally! I had a glass shard lodged in my heel once after jumping off a 3 feet stage at a local bar (went straight through my shoe) and I'm a haemophiliac too... so total blood bath. But the worst part was the removal of some splinters with tweezers at the hospital.
I'vce had three cracked ribs, It was so much pain, hurts to breathe. I cant imangine actually breaking one, then returning work for action passed movie for filming like LOTR. Major propa to Orlando.
This is so bloody epic. I think I only knew about Aragorn's (Viggo Mortensen's) broken toe. So awesome! I just love these behind the scenes films! THANK YOU LORD OF THE RINGS FILM TRILOGY CAST AND PETER JACKSON!
Viggo Mortensen is the one true king of Gondor. You can actually believe he is Aragorn. He goes that extra mile to great lengths and pain to be involved in the role it's amazing. It is a shame he's not in more things. I've only seen him in two other films, an Al Pacino film and a Western horse racing film. He definitely deserves more recognition, which sadly Hollywood won't give die to the era they're in.
Breaks two toes, turns it into performance, doesn't break character. Gets in a very hairy position where he very well could have easily died, kicks off a wall, pops up somewhere else, doesn't break character. Love this man 🤣
How was no one rushing to Viggo after he pops up from nearly being drowned looking like hes dead i mean...good lord. Who are these so called safety guys.
I got a splinter in my foot a couple of months ago. It didn't hurt me as much as Dom's splinter hurt him, but it was so annoying to have until I had it taken out.
Orlando is the complete opposite of me. "I mean it was just run so I was onset the next day..." HOW!? IT'S JUST A RIB OH WELL I BROKE A RIB I'M TOTALLY FINE THANKS!
