Millennia is C Prompt Games & Paradox Interactive's new 4X historical strategy game, competing with the likes of Civilization 6 and Humankind within the historical, turn-based 4x genre. Millennia's ages system, perhaps it's most unique contribution to the genre, is really demonstrated in this video. I feel the later game is where Millennia particularly shines.

Maybe later dlcs will enable you to flood the world so only underwater cities can survive. I'm really looking forward to hilarious future content.

Love the channel. I'm a big fan of Humankind and Old World. Had a hard time breaking through with Civ 6 for some reason. This actually looks like a contender. Wish the graphics were improved but it actually looks cool with all of the tiles built up. Thanks for this.

its part of the game tho. many games focus on graphics and it makes them REALLY immersive, like whole other experience. its obviously important to many people. no body is saying this game is shit. just the graphics. i will still enjoy it, i just wish it had vicky3 or humankind graphics. i loved the graphics in those games and its important to me. saying that noone carse about it is just weak. we are also people with our wants and expectations and likes, just like you. look i can like a game and accept its criticism. no game is perfect. this one has shitty graphics but hopefully they will improve. it just shows that this game should have been developed for a few months more. we know paradox likes realeasing too early. like hoi, vicky2, imperator

@The_man_is_Gaming This game is developed by C prompt games, an indie developer while Paradox is the publisher. Because of the Paradox name, there's a huge expectation for the indie dev.

Thanks for the playtrhough! I'm quite interested to play it myself. This ending was a little bit anticlamatic however. The game should have let you play against the Ai to see if you could survive or not.

Can you play past the victory screen or is it just over?

nope, it just ends. You can view the map and pan around after the game, but you can't take any additional turns

@@Cruor34 Mostly I want to have an epic showdown with the Age of Visitors and Age of Singularity. They are kind of like Stellaris end game crisis, and I want to have a showdown with them after I have beaten everyone else militarily.

Hey Jumbo, quick question! Was there any option for Nuclear Weapons? If not, I assume it'll be a DLC? If so, that is quite surprising and unfortunate to say. Maybe it'll be put it in a later update?

@@JumboPixel Esh, that's severely unfortunate. What's your opinion on that? Do you agree or disagree with them making it a DLC? Personally, it's quite an abomination that they make something so important to humankind, literally an invention that impacted humanity on a tremendous level, kept out for a DLC. Infact, this is the first Civilization game where they pay wall Nuclear Weapons...

I dont think this game is worth full price (most recent paradox games aren't) I will be watching for at least a 20% sale though. You know the mods for this game are going to be wild. Hopefully some future ages, cool weapons, apocalypse scenarios, magic? Thanks for covering it JP!

It’s not “full price”, it’s $40. Civ 6 base game was $60 on release and was uh not great.

I think it's in the age of rocketry. Remember, there are alternate techs, resources, ages, and paths.

I agree, bit they probably do it this way to avoid massive power creeps. It would be cool if you can still enter the crisis ages after the alternate ages, and vice-versa

It's interesting that there is no fascist government form like in nearly any other civ like game. Obviously Fundamentalist are somewhat similar, but it's cool that you can do a faith based playthrough until the end.

Question: I played the 500 turns, the AI won, but I didn't even try to win, I just wanted to develop my civilization... so... is there a way to continue after the time expires? In Civilization you do have the option to continue playing.... Just one more turn...

hopefully they rework that last age, that was very anticlimactic. Maybe turn the AI into its own Civilization, maybe make a new project to hack the AI or maybe make peace with it, when you won enough victories or destroyed enough AI factories or escape to Mars or something like that.

Yeah, being the last survivor because the AI killed everyone else shouldn't give you a victory. The crisis is still ongoing. Being the first to overcome the crisis should be the victory condition.

I have no idea why people think civ 6 graphics are good? It looks like a bloody mobile game... I much prefer civ 5 graphics.

Graphically this doesn't come close to Civilization 5, a game that launched 14 years ago. It's clear that they didn't really invest much manpower or resources into this project. Even if this had released in 2010 it would be overshadowed. I'm just a bit perplexed here.

Who gives a shit about graphics? Not me. If a game is fun then it’s a good game . If it a boring then it’s a bad game. Graphics don’t even come into consideration for me.

@@bvav9678if you're going to play something for, I dunno, 500+ hours, making it easy for the eyes is a must to enjoy. The units are too small, the graphics all over the place. It's an ugly mess. But that's not the worst part. UI is even more lacking. And no QoL whatsoever

Are we looking at the same game? This is way more beautiful than Civ 5 and even CIv 6. The only graphics that are weak are the combat screen, but the world map graphics and illustrations are gorgeous.

@@Titpig69No QoL? This game has QoL features that not even CIv has, like an undo button, being able to set reminders for when you can afford things, and most importantly a total customization of the hex grid and icon rendering in the settings.

Uhm....Dominions? Songs of Silence? Who needs graphics when it plays well? To be fair though. Not convinced about Millenia just yet. Seems to be a bit restrictive. Tech rush is the only viable build, as not teching punishes you with not choosing the desired(or advantageous) age, and saddles you with catch up lag in having to research the age anyway
