ericradford2142 I'm laughing my ass off because some years back me and my friends would be watching the nfl games and they didn't realize what I was talking about when I said they only play the slowed down melodic version when a player was injured and they believed when every game on Fox watching the Sunday Ticket they was like damn we never realized and said I was right.😂😂😂
Bulls won 6, Lakers won 3, My Rockets won 2, and the Spurs Was able to get one in 99! But, there were so many teams that were VERY close to picking some of these. Suns, Knicks, Pacers, Jazz, Sonics, Blazers. A lot of the bulls NBA finals series were down to just one Clutch Play by the Bulls! 🔥 Paxson in 93, Jordan in 98 Etc! For the rockets, Just imagine if Olajuwon DIDN’T block John Starks 3 in Game 6, the Knicks might have taken one of the rockets titles away, SO GLAD that block happened! 🔥 Olajuwon my favorite Center to play!
@@n1c704 I believe the Bulls would have lost in either 94 or 95 to the Rockets. The Rockets didn't have anyone that could have stopped Jordan, but the Bulls didn't have anyone who could stop Hakeem. Jordan did come back in '95 after all-star break, and they lost to the Magic...the same team the Rockets swept in the finals that same year. Now, we all know that wasn't the same Jordan, but the Rockets were a very well-rounded team just like the Bulls. It would come down to who would have the bigger impact: Hakeem or Jordan, and I think the Rockets win one of those series. Hakeem was the best center during that small stretch, which included Robinson, Shaquille, Ewing, etc. and Jordan's Bulls never had a dominant center. Jordan puts Hakeem on his all-time starting 5 for what it's worth. Would have been one of the best series of all time
This is what made the NBA the best ever during this era. Jordan, Rockets, Barkley, Miller vs. Knicks, Stockton/Malone, Lakers 3-Peat, Admiral. I loved this period.
KWCline91 those where real rivalries bulls-knicks pacers-knicks lakers-kings suns-sonics heat-knicks wow i just realize knicks where hated by more teams anyways rockets-jazz and nbc knew how to pump it up more i remember the 1994 all-star game they where interviewing pippen and ewing at same time and ask you guys face each other next week here on nbc but just for tonight you guys are friends right and niether 1 reply back thats how much hatred was back then and made the game more personal and fun
If anything, they should've started showing the NBA on NBC back in the mid 80s. Think of what they would've shown if it wasn't on CBS----the last Bird vs Magic NBA finals, the dawn of the Bad Boys, Bird's steal, the hayday of the Bulls-Pistons rivalry, the shot and the beginnings of several great careers (Stockton, Miller, Ewing, Malone etc).
NBA shouldn’t have never left NBC. This was the end of the NBA as we know it, it hasn’t been the same since. Still good but not great like it was in the 90s. Anybody that grew up watching this in the 90s would understand
Yes man! I feel you on this one. This was my childhood during the 90’s. It was like a magical feeling, especially during the playoffs on NBC. Everything from the opening theme music, to the excellent play-by-play announcing, to the electric atmosphere of watching the games at home. What an experience it was! You’re right, Philly it just hasn’t been the same since.
All this happened in 2002 where I felt like my childhood was ruined. The NBA on NBC came to an end. Disney's One Saturday Morning came to an end on ABC. Then Fox Kids came to an end as well.
Nothing beats looking back at remembering the real true golden era of pure professional 🏀 basketball greatness of the NBA ON NBC (1990-2002). Amazing 12 telecast Year run that began on November 3rd, 1990, then it ended at June 12th, 2002. - This was way back when superstars don't need to be jumping around to form super teams from where we all had Real players, real passion, real defense, real sportsmanship, real love for the game before the old school dream team era ended in 2003 then it went downhill becoming known as the modern soft era. 1992 is where I grew up with the league along with my favorite childhood flim Space Jam released on 11/15th 1996. No matter what happens in the league of the here & now, I'm still a loyal Chicago Bulls fan. Teamwork, Defense & Perseverance win NBA Championships🏆. Thanks For The Incredible Memories. The In - Season & Play - In Tournaments?! Today's NBA as we all know it just went way too soft. 22 years has passed & it's sad that we'll never see an NBA team 3-peat again.
You can never beat this era of the NBA..NBA on NBC growing up as a kid was something I will never forget..after espn and abc took over they have brought it down if I had a choice to watch the NBA today or women's crochet I would choose women's crochet..RIP NBA on NBC!!!
Chicago Bulls brought me to the NBA on NBC back in 1991 when they first won the NBA championship in the 1st repeat with Michael Jordan and his teammates and again in the 2nd 3-peat but it was an honor to be part of the Last Dance when I was a little boy!!!!
I’m hearing rumors that ESPN/ABC might cut ties with the NBA after 20 years. This means NBC has a shot to get the NBA back which would be happy joys for us basketball 🏀 fans.
Even the WNBA on NBC was worth watching. ESPN/ABC tries to much to manufacture drama instead of building on it naturally like NBC did. It seemed like NBC and CBS before that really embraced the league and it's brand potential.
My issue with ABC (Disney)/ESPN is, it's all watered down. The timing couldn't have been worse. The only time I ever watched the NBA (after '02) was a year later. It sure wasn't the same. Wide World Of Sports should have still be on. Thank God for the Spanish/foreign channels (I love their real, raw, old-school style/approach).
The sad end of the very best, and ultimate golden era of basketball. The Clippers and Grizzlies could play each-other, and NBC could still have somehow found a way make that game seem epic, like it was Game 7 of the NBA Finals, or at least close to it! That, and made you want to go outside and play some basketball as soon as you were done watching it on that great channel. It's too bad they can't take back the NBA, while ESPN should just have the NHL once more. That of which was the ONE sport they actually DID do right (unlike the other three), but unfortunately no longer have!
So sad when the said goodbye to the NBA. I remember hearing "Roundball Rock" over and over again their first season during the 1991 finals with when the Bulls and Lakers played each other.
With the NHL leaving NBC at the end of the season it's a long shot I know but NBC should try to go after the NBA again. It's a long shot but never say never
If I was commissioner of the NBA, I'd make 2016 ABC/ESPN's FINAL YEAR covering the NBA, then give the rights back to NBC to start the 2016-17 season. ABC and ESPN have screwed up NBA coverage for THE LAST TIME! Commissioner Silver, please....rethink your decision on the network deals following the 2015-16 season. We NBA fans have waited 13 years for the NBA on NBC, what's 1 more year compared to the 9 you'd be making us wait if you go through with this? BRING BACK THE NBA ON NBC!
I just realized something: in the 12 years on NBC only one team didn't repeat (San Antonio); outside of them, everyone else repeated (Bulls 2 3-peats, Rockets back to back, Lakers 3-peat)
Picture that the NBA on NBC had the two of the greatest play-by-play guys in Mike Breen and of course, Marv Albert. From Michael's 6 championships to Los Angeles' three-peat. Man, NBC's coverage was simply not just ordinary.
the end of real basketball this was the phil jackson era he won 9 out of the 12 championships that nbc had and he didnt coach 1 year the other years jordan was retired nba on nbc was the best of times
Classic! I think CBS closing montage was a hair better. How will ESPN/ABC go out? Who knows, the NBA is mighty profitable now and has plenty of "stars" to keep it relevant. NBC made a huge mistake back then, not riding out the "after Jordan" trail. If one thing history had shown us, and obviously the suits at NBC didn't understand is..."there is ALWAYS another". If they had rode it out, LeBron was just 4 years away.
I hope the closing credits for the NHL on NBC when they appear this Sunday (or earlier if Tampa wins the Stanley Cup before Sunday) are as good as this. I also hope that the NBA returns to NBC in 2024 when the current deal with ESPN/ABC expires.
This was right in the middle of a dark period for NBC having lost the NFL in 1998 and MLB in 2000. After losing the NBA, they had none of the four major sports in North America for four years and only had the PGA Tour and the Olympics as their major properties until the NFL and NHL came back to NBC in 2006. Since then they have added the English Premier League, Indycar, acquired the British Open and regained the US Open. Hopefully NBC doesn't enter another dark period going forward even though they are losing the NHL at the end of this season and may lose the Premier League at the end of this upcoming season.
NBC is in the works of bidding for the NBA TV rights for 2025 during this years playoffs, but Turner is the odd one out. Anyways this is good news for us roundball rock fans.
sigh, miss these days. end of an era. NBA On ABC is boring imo. I liked NBA On ABC when it was started, but once the 2010's came, i thought it went downhill
I was sad when Dick Stockton saw off the NBA on CBS. The NBA on NBC seemed silly...then it became the gold standard. ABC gets a lot of crap, but they've gotten MUCH better as the years have gone by. That first Finals with Brad Nessler and Tom Tolbert was symbolic as the Spurs and Nets was the worst Finals I've watched. Lowest rated Finals in the modern era. But they got better. It's not on NBC's level, but it's absolutely watchable now.
