My god what I wouldn't give for these kind of intros in today's game. I really do wish NBC could get the rights to the NBA back. Best coverage and story telling by far
They need to at least bring back this level of production for the Conference finals and finals. just gives everyone the perspective of history of the game and where this game falls in it. Just unbelievable work by NBC and Bob Costas.
Oscar Leaving the Royals and Joining Kareem on the Bucks to win that 1971 Title in his 11th season is eerily similar to Clyde Leaving Blazers to Join Hakeem on the Rockets to win the 1995 Title in his 12th season.
@Chick Hearn4ever Yup that's why with the TV deal for NBA expiring next year, NBC will try to get it back. Been too long since the last time games were televised on NBC. Modern NBA with the NBA on NBC broadcast would be amazing.

Now, NO TEAM HAS EVER RECOVERED FROM A 3-0 DEFICIT TO WIN THE NBA FINALS. That is one of two feats that has not been achieved by any NBA team but has been achieved by a team in the PBA (Philippine Basketball Association).
Didn’t seem like he was crying, more like you are crying bc ppl talk about how awful the refs were. It’s ok, the championship will always stand, even if the refs were a large part or a small part or the MVP’s like in 2016
Other legendary players who were unable to win championships Patrick Ewing John Stockton Karl Malone Allen Iverson Charles Barkley Reggie Miller Chris Mullin
He was in the league a year or so before Hakeem and Jordan. Clyde had an early start to his NBA career. That's why. MJ reached Jordan after 93 season when he retired if my history serves me right
At 3:44, Bob Costas mentions the statistical oddities of western conference teams losing at home going back to 1989 to the Lakers losses to the Pistons. He mentions that, and while Portland would end up breaking that streak in this game, it continued in Game 5. It's also a foreshadowing of the next season in the finals, as the trend would continue, when the Phoenix Suns lost all 3 game to the Chicago Bulls at home. 1989 through 1993, western conference team whoever they were, at home in the finals were 1-13, with that 1 win being this game.
