The clear out was long overdue. An almost complete refresh of the squad. It does mean that winning something this year is harder but I believe we can do it. Solanke will come good and I think Oderbert is worth a try instead of the lacking in confidence Johnson with Deki as the number 10 I would like to see Mikey given a run on the left instead of, gasp, Sonny
I think we were all disappointed with Son at Leicester, but it’s early days. No doubt Moore should get the last 20 minutes more often than not and more minutes still in our cup matches. Wonderful goal he scored the other day.
I would rather give game time to players who are suited to this system than experienced players who are not. We are much better off this season than last. Hopefully we can have a good season and fine tune this roster next window. Bergvall is going to be a superstar.
Now that we’ve improved the squad I want Ange to use it and change things up. I felt that the starting 11 for Leicester was picked more on experience rather than merit. If I’m Deki I’d be very pissed off that I didn’t start. I wanna see rotation on merit this season. I really hope our fans stay on board regardless of how we do this season. He needs time 🕰️! Yeah he’s always won in his second season but this is the premier league. A project like this takes at least 3-5 years
We've done well to get rid of the deadwood (cough, losing a lot of money on every single one of them). The bigger problem is that we are not replacing them with significantly better quality. Failure to beat Everton will heap immense pressure on the manager, especially as we are unlikely to get anything against Newcastle or Woolwich.
This team is now extremely young, I don’t think we should put to much pressure on them as this is a multi year rebuilding process.....but if you tell that to the average spurs fan they’ll bite your head off as we are also desperate to win trophies....
I still think we need a LB or a LCB who can also play LB, and a 6. That Gomes sounds good for that 6. Hincapie sounds good for the former. Get those done or something very close, we’re good!
Do you think that Ange will be looking for a left sided defender as cover for VDV/Udogie, or is he content for Davies/Spence to fill in when necessary? Personally, that's one area of the pitch where I think that Spurs are light
@@richardhand8004 bergvall got caught out once, literally once in the far corner. Otherwise controlled the game, everyone was passing to him, he looked incredibly confident. Gray looked nervous, not taking anything away from Gray, just Bergvall looked allot more confident
@@dummlp we’ve got rid of deadwood like royal, hojberg, dier, Gil, etc to bring in Werner who won’t start games, won’t effect starting eleven hence will be deadwood
@@lukejarvis-q3eNot every player in a squad will be starter level, you need a certain amount who don't expect to be starting regularly but can come in and do a job when called on. The jury is still out on how effective Werner will be in that role, but at least he's suited to a Postecoglou system, unlike the deadwood who have been shipped out this summer.
Big up lads !!! If we get a left back and a midfielder I’d give this window 10/10 Up till now outgoings I give a 9 and incomings a 7. I’m impressed with our new scouting team and totally agree either way their focus on young players with massive talent. Only way we can compete with top teams. It’s all about buying players before they become worth 50-60 million. It’s also the correct financial approach now that PSR is being implemented.
Hey 👋 Ali , I also rate Gray super highly but I think Bergvall will be the biggest star personally. Not necessarily the better player but definitely the bigger star also cause of his amazing style of play . It’s truly poetry in motion! What a player
I personally would’ve sent Scarlett to a league one team where he’d start every game similar to Donley. He just needs to play and score to get his confidence flowing. Then bump him up !
Jota (previously at Celtic) now in Al Ittihad (Saudi Pro League) has stated that he wants to move. Still haven’t seen Spurs replicate what Jota and Kyogo could do… I know the competition level is different- but would be great to get insights from Ange on this Ali: You haven’t gone back for any players at Celtic - but at Celtic you did go back to Yokohama, is it because the EPL is just on another level?
There's definitely a need for a left-sided defender. Davies can't play any of the roles in Ange's system. Spence didn't look good on the left. It's a must before the end of the window.
You are speculating about who might be left out of the squad this week to accommodate Odebert, but surely if Bentancour is ruled out, his space is available.
Any news on Ashley Phillips? I assume the plan is a loan but haven’t really heard anything. I’m sure lots of championship teams will be looking at him after his spell at Plymouth. Anyone in chat heard anything ?
Brian Gil mentioned in same sentence as Adama Traore is hilarious 🤣! He’d look like a little kid navy to him. I actually rate Gil but like you said not in PL. in Spain or Italy will be good player .
It’s irrelevant how many wingers we have, we could have 20 but makes no difference if most of them are average at best and now we’re all praying that a 19 year old signing from relegated Burnley is going to be the answer!
You're forgetting that young players can be inconsistent. Their form can drop as quickly as it can grow. And usually it does drop (remember how highly rated were Alli, Dier, Winks when they were young)
Dier did just play in late stage CL games for one of the biggest clubs in Europe! He did turn to custard for us for a while but he is far from finished. Winks's performance issues were pretty clearly injury related. Fair enough on Dele tho.
@pauljohnware not fair enough on Dele either, to be honest. If the guy didn't have the mental problems due to his upbringing, he outshone everyone mentioned and times 10 in talent.
@@neil364 Yeah no argument at all that the man was electric for a good few seasons. I do think the aspects of his personality that made him great were also the things that ended up bringing him down though. The context in which he was mentioned was young players being thrown into the deep end and their performances drying up as a result - I would say Dele is the prime example of this process.
Is it just me, or does Rob appear 15 years younger on video than he does in that image for the podcast? I was a podcast only listener for a while and I assumed he was significantly older.
I did also picture him as a slightly older (~50s) and more rotund man with a tremendously voluptuous salt and pepper beard. The type who owns far too many guitars, smokes cigars and has a Labrador. Meant as no slight to Guesty, quite the opposite actually he has a wonderfully distinctive accent
As we are buying young players has there been any talk of getting Jorrel Hato from Ajax. He looks very fast like VDV can play LB and LCB seems like would be perfect for what we need.
Hato signed a new contract in March, so would be more expensive, but agree. Hincapie has been linked to EPL. Theate went to Frankfurt. Lukeba has a high release clause I think. Marmol would be an interesting one.
We HAVE to get back up left back. I don’t want a situation this season where one position has no cover/competition. Not acceptable. If they don’t buy someone keep Reggie imo
Totally agree Alasdair and a Guestie so many clubs can’t shift the players who need to move on Man U are a classic example. So really pleased. I do not put Skippy in that basket for him under previous managers. he was taken fir a ride he will come good and prob outgrow Leicester. I will say after Deki first 6 months heading into that transfer market a lot of pundits saw our front 3 of Sonny who was at his best Kane and Deki as good as ant top 4 side Sonny still great but time catches up no Kane I do like the 2 striker system we have now with Dom but I don’t think our first front 3 terrifies ppl as it once did psychology plays a part . Love the show you are right about Bergvall he is going to be a star and the fee was a bargain prob best young signing since Ali
Good day, Happy Clappers. This season will likely be another disappointing one. We will finish below fifth place and won't win any trophies. Ange hasn't improved our defending, especially in set piece situations, and our squad depth isn't strong enough. Hopefully, Ange can address these weaknesses as soon as possible.
Ange will be gone by Christmas. The players we have don't have the mentality for big occasions. All the journos linking us with all these players like Neto and Eze and we get Werner and Solanke. Couldn't be anymore Spursy! Levy out!
I like Solanke but Werner is a strange one. We lack a clinical edge so we bring back Werner, who lost his bottle in front of goal about 4 years ago, make it make sense 😂. Solanke is injured already as well, after playing all 38 games for Bournemouth last season. We are cursed.
I’ve sadly come to the conclusion that Ali Gold is an agent for Levy. I can’t believe some of the nonsense I’m listening to. I do not want young players!! I want players to come into the first team and improve it! Gary is basically our 3rd choice number 6, yeah Ange really loves him doesn’t he. What nonsense!
@@goldenclouds75 I would expect nothing less than to beat Everton comfortably, I think it shows just how low your expectations are that you had to wait till we scored the fourth to make a comment…
Leadership doesn't mean that nothing bad can happen, I don't know the personalities in the group. But from what we hear Son Davies Madders Romero are good role models.
A couple of days ago we were going to sign a goalkeeper, a defender & a midfielder, according to the increasingly unreliable Paul O'Keefe. Now we aren't going to sign anyone despite another Spursy performance against a woeful Leicester City side. Apparently, Gray & Bergvall have impressed Ange so much they can't get in the team even with Bissouma suspended. Sorry, I mean they've impressed him so much in training, we don't need to sign another midfielder despite Bentancur having a season ticket at the Accident & Emergency department of the local hospital.
Who will we bring in? No links. No clear definition on what position we are targeting. We obviously need a left back but for some reason this keeps getting overlooked. Unless we think Ben Davies can still do a job there, which he can't. Spence is also not a good option. Statistically his performances dip a lot on the left hand side. Has to be VDV but we're not exactly blessed with depth at CB. 1 injury to Romero or Dragusin at CB & you can't afford to move VDV to LB.
I dont think spurs will ever win the league but in terms of finding talent that will eventually move onto more successful clubs that win things i think spurs is number 1, Levy's spurs is a good business model of sustainability and making profit, and showcasing talented players that can be sold
Whats good about the squad rebuild is that when Ange inevitably gets sacked halfway through this season the new manager likely won’t need to sign a lot of new players. I feel like most top managers can do something with these players
Ange is a fraud. Angeball is painfully simplistic. He bought in Brennan Johnson, who had a fairly basic skill set to begin with & then went about simplifying his game even more by, largely, taking the progressive carries out of his game. I fear for Wilson Odobert, who is an absolute bag of tricks, atm.
@@JackBenjamin39 The tactics worked vs. Leicester it’s just the individual players still don’t totally fit the system. This is because currently the players are better suited to counter attacking football (Sonny and Brennan are both hybrid striker/wingers; both traditionally better running into space & cutting in to shoot than taking their man on and stretching the play). We now have a striker who can hold the ball up and we now have a 2 way winger who can take on his man in tight spaces - the progress is going to be slow but this season we’ll start to see games where we score 5+ goals a game. Next season we’re going to challenge for the title.
I love Archie gray and I’d be happy for him to start at left back if Porro is injured. However I’d be hesitant to play him against a very physical Everton team in midfield. I just feel that’s too much pressure for the young guy. I think Biss is gonna have to play even though he doesn’t deserve to.
