This was the last adventure for my poor old Dana 35 back in 2015.
I could have repaired it again, but it would have meant spending money on a 4th set of spider gears. I decided to sell it off to someone with reasonably sized tires, and upgrade to a Dana 44.
It's been 9 years and I haven't had a single regret.
Can a D35 survive 35” tires with proper preparation? It really depends I guess.
I started off with 32” tires when I bought the Jeep. I spent a few years on 33s after that, and finally did the Super35 axle shaft kit and installed 35” tires. I actually did get a couple years in trouble free, but as I started to wheeling a bit more aggressively I found myself replacing spider gears about once a year which got annoying.
After the 3rd set in about 3 years I decided to call it quits and adopt the popular opinion on the D35.
