Please don't skip on the DLC, valhalla. It's amazing and it's free. It's a roguelike genre that feels like a gauntlet, but with many easter eggs and a good story added in. It's worth it and again, it's free!

What hits harder for me in the end is Mimir solving Brok´s last riddle... that hits like a truck. No matter how many times I watch or play it, I always tear up. You should definitely play the dlc now. It is amazing.

Kratos crying with the paiting of him been worshiped for the good he did... saying that he never imagined that, is just on point! My heart melts with that scene everytime

The speech by Faye might be the most beautiful monologue I've ever heard in media. It is just so powerful and so truthful. It never fails to make me tear up. Love that you understood the value of her words. Also it's just incredible that both games are done ALL IN ONE SHOT. So much creativity in that one concept.

I think the thing that really brought the ending home for me was when I found out the words that the chorus was singing, the music swelling, as Kratos walked down the mountain, having just discovered a new path he could've never imagined (posted by the composer on his blog, translated from Old Norse): "A new sun rises On a new world A new beginning A new dawn The brave shall live forever" And then, during Brok's funeral: "Lo there, Brother Brave Brother Take your place where the brave shall live for eternity I will see you soon Take your place, where the brave shall live on Forever"

2:59:14 I couldn’t hold back my tears first time when I hear the chorus came in. The funeral sequence has like only three lines but it’s so powerful. Its truly a fantastic game and I definitely enjoyed your play-through. Thank you!!!

I might be the first like. I'm watching some of the last episode now to catch up. Holiday peak is getting more intense, of course, and as it goes I will actually be working in about an hour, helping deliver with the Sunday crew. The overall story of Kratos from before Ascension to Ragnarok has come to be one of my favorites. Here is a man/demigod who made a bad deal with a cruel god in order to get revenge, lost his first family in the process and then lost himself throughout the remainder of his Greek years expanding his hate and revenge to include an entire pantheon. Along comes a woman when he journeys to Midgard, and she slowly shows him a different path, a better path. They start a new family and Kratos slowly begins to open up again, slowly becomes the man that he was meant to be. His old nature was hate and revenge, and it would have led him to a violent death, but he changed his nature and thus changed his fate. (It is the nature of a thing that matters, not its form) He was gifted a new family for this, a son that may soon be writing a story of his own, a woman that will always be a part of him, an extended family of friends and comrades. And that bit where he saw the revered god he could one day be...I had the same reaction he did. This is an epic story that I would gladly go to time and again, and I'm glad you took on this playthrough Anna. Thank you and GG. Also hopefully I'll be able to check out this never before seen Broken Prison segment without falling asleep again, hadn't seen it before. (Just saw it now and confirmed - i had heard the real Tyr was still alive too and it makes more sense that he was imprisoned deep within Asgard where no outsider could reach him instead of some random Svarthalheim dungeon, still Goblet of Fire vibes)

17:28 this game’s fantastic. You know the way you feel when you’re at the end and don’t want it to be over? This game tops those emotions. I never wanted it to end thinking Kratos could die but I wanted to see Odin loose so bad.

I love how Faye's final lesson isn't some generic "don't grieve my death, but celebrate my life", it's "to grieve deeply is to have loved fully", and that you must open your heart to that grief, allow yourself to feel it so you can accept it and move on from it.

Hey this is Don from SkyTea’s streams & I absolutely loved your playthrough & seeing your reaction to everything. Seeing your emotions get pulled in so many ways for certain scenes was amazing to see. In regards to that Faye dialogue to Kratos when she tells him “Open your heart to the world as you have opened it to me & you’ll find every reason to keep living in it.” That, that helped me so so so much more than anyone can truly understand. I was going through one of, if not the hardest time of my life last year near the time this game came out and when I heard that sentence I cried a lot. And as somone who never really cries in the first place, not because I try to act tough or anything but because I struggle to express my emotions and let them out, the fact that sentence made me tear up & flat out cry just shows how good SMS is at storytelling and hitting your emotions. I previously never owned up to this before & only told Sky about this but I’ve been in a better place since then so I feel comfortable to talk about it. Again, I really enjoyed this playthrough & can’t wait for your revisiting of the last of us playthrough and see your see your thoughts you’ve had on it!

this game is just stunning, I had always love your humorous, honest and empathatic reaction hence playthrough, this is the second time I've watched it's storyline and it still gets me teary and full of after-thoughts, a very wellmade game that can forge this kind of connection with ppl in real life regardless of it's genre is truely a brilliant.

I don't know if anyone mentioned it but Raeb the dwarf that is playing the instrument during the funeral is Bear McCreary the game's composer. He did the motion capture for the character, the voice acting, the character looks like him and of course Raeb is "Bear" spelled backwards.

I was so pleased to see you get emotional and had real high hopes as you seemed very clued in to what was happening. It was very disappointing the whole Jourmumgandar thing went completely by with no reaction from you. Even when you heard both Mimir and Freya talking about it there was no reaction. Jormy said he recognised Atreus. This was because he was the same snake Atreus helped in Ironwood. Remember he put a giants soul inside to save it. Angrabodr mentioned how it was getting alot bigger, really big. The snake that fought in ragnorok was the snake from Ironwood thats why it looked different as Kratos mentioned. Then he vanished while fighting Thor and that was how Jormy ended up back in time before he was even born and kept growing until he completely circled the world. Alot of the lore is revealed via conversations and if you talk over the characters you will miss out on so much. The Jormy story adds so much. Nb: in case you didn't know in Norse Mythology Loki had 3 children with Angraboda, Hel who isn't in the game but rules in Helheim, Jormundandr the wold serpent and Fenrir the wolf who in Ragnorok was destined to kill Odin just as Jormundandr and Thor were destined to kill each other. Damn I love this game ❤

From the time that Kratos walked into his tent the night before the battle to when they charged through the gate of Asgard is my favorite story portion of the game. Everything was perfect.

Incase you aren’t aware there’s a free DLC for Ragnarok that’s been released (probably what the update notification meant that popped out). It’s a great DLC I’m honestly surprised it was free, I wouldn’t have mind paying for it. I’ll definitely watch if you play it. Oh and you’re also beautiful

First of I would like to say thank you for sharing this amazing playthrough on such an amazing game with us, it was a long an emotional journey with such a beautiful resolution and the final shrine showing Kratos' life with him actually being revered and worshiped as a God and his reaction to it completely broke me.

The song at the end during Brock’s funeral was a slowed down and more somber version of the song they played when you first go to Sindri’s house at the beginning of the game. It was much more upbeat and happier tune before.

When odin came to thor, he came in so cassuale talking as if kratos wasn't their lol, and i love everyone in this game. Even the villain and jormie

Skjöldr is actually mentioned in the Prose Edda. He is "gifted" a coin from Odin, and later becomes the king of Denmark. Odin pays Kratos with a coin for the damage to the house, which he thows into the sky. After the war if you go to The Derelict Outpost, Skjöldr is seen pulling on something stuck in the rock. Also Thrúd mentions she is looking for something after the war. If you travel to the Canyons of Alfheim she has found what she is looking for. Also the real Týr can be found at all realms and has remarks on each.

I'm glad you had fun, Anna :) The game is a masterpiece that concludes Kratos's journey really well. Especially when you know his story on the original games. Also, Bear McCreary wrote the music of the game and he appears on it and plays the hurdygurdy on Brok's funeral.

the best way to go into this is truly not knowing the outcome for Kratos. The way they prepare you for his death the entire game just makes the ending hit so damn hard

You can still find out what happened to the world serpent after Ragnarok, visit Artreus, Angrboda and their friends + see Thrud get Thor's hammer after the ending, I think.

I do wish that Atreus had been present at Brok's funeral in some way. Maybe not with the main group because Sindri might have issue with it. But maybe when Sindri is staring daggers at Kratos we could a mournful wolf howl that would Atreus in his wolf form, and that was what snapped Sindri out of his stare before he disappeared. The howl saying goodbye to both of his lost friends Brok and Sindri. Or maybe just Atreus standing on one of the ridges in the background overlooking the funeral.

So for those who dont know what the last picture means. Angrboda the girl who painted all the stories realised that no future is certain because people can indeed change. So she overpainted the last one what was supposed to show Kratos fate. She painted it like Kratos the builder/the protector of the 7 realms beeing worshipped. Not a God if War but a God of Piece with the ability to defend.

What an absolute pleasure it's been to watch you play this masterpiece. Your commentary and thoughts along the journey were so real and heartfelt, you have a way of wording the ways I felt while playing myself and even had me crying alongside you when I've already played through before - you have a real talent for immersing us in your experience and frame of reference. The triple berserker fight on GMGoW was one of the most infuriating experiences I've ever had in a video game until I realized you can unlock your camera allowing you to track all 3 of them.

the women you heard crying was Sinmarra, Surtr's wife. she was supposed to fuse with him to form the monster Ragnarok. Don't hold me to this but I've read (it was on the internet so I took with a lot of salt) that an entire section got cut that involved a questline with her and Surtr. (supposedly it got cut for time to actually to get to Ragnarok) but it would make sense from Surtr going I don't want to help to suddenly in a flash saying I want to help you. (if indeed a section got cut)

Sad to see this playthrough come to an end, but you need to play the DLC. It is basically an epilogue to the main game and has an amazing storyline, with some great surprises. It truly is such an amazing DLC and the fact Santa Monica give this to the fans for free in the current climate, shows what the game means to them and to us

The whole ending emotionally destroyed me, from Kratos and Atreus departing, Kratos seeing his prophecy at the end that he will finally be worshipped and loved to the funeral. The final quote always hits me when Mimir solves Brok’s riddle and it shows the state that Sindhi is in. “A Hole” gets bigger the more you take away :(

Oh my god, that image at the beginning with Kratos and Bun (in the place of bear-Atreus) is so amazing. 😂 (I'm torn as to whether or not your head should've also been 'shopped on top of Kratos'.) Personally my hard hit from the end is the fact that Faye told Kratos "We will always walk together". Both his and her shrines were the only ones back-to-back, together. This has been the best playthrough of this game and one of my favourites of all lets plays. By Kratos' Beard... you have done us all great honour. Greatest thanks to you.

1:27:15 "There's always a choice!" Odin disguised as Tyr said the same thing to Atreus while they were exploring Alfheim. Odin didn't take his "own" advice.

You never ended up going to Jotunheim after you saw it unlocked. You should do that when you have a chance. It's a small bit, but it's worth seeing. There's also 2 small things I can think of that you have yet to see in Midgard. And of course there's the traitor Gná that Freya and the Shield Maidens spoke about.

I really want to see the first meeting of Faye and Kratos because Faye or Kratos did say that they almost took each other's heads off

The Norns were somewhat still right about the death of Kratos. Kratos Of Sparta The Godslayer Destroyer Of Worlds died at Ragnarok but Kratos Of Midgard The Great Rebuilder survived to help the 8 realms rebuild and thrive. Hopefully you play through God Of War Ragnarok Valhalla it’s an amazing epilogue to an already amazing story.

Hehe finished right as the dlc comes. It’s actually amazing, very story heavy for the OG games and lots of cool lore for u to learn. The ending of the main story is so amazing, showing him being worshipped and loved as a God after everything he’s done and been thru. U definitely mastered the combat by the end haha. Would definitely recommend Ghost of Tsushima to play, amazing samurai game with an amazing story, absolutely beautiful too

What people miss when Sif told Thor Odin is responsible for their suffering and it was Odin not Kratos who is responsible for their sons dying they followed Odin not them. She wasn’t telling Thor to go after Atreus she wanted him to take out Odin cuz she had a chance to kill Atreus and Sindri but she didn’t instead she told Thrud Odin ain’t ish she wanted Thrud to stand up to Odin cuz Thor wasn’t going to stand up against him he had the chance when their sons died yet he didn’t.

One of my favorite parts of the ending boss fight was when Freya showed up with the noose to begin strangling Odin. Because of the similarities between her interaction with Odin in that moment to Baldur and her in the last game. Even the dialog is similar. Baldur to Freya: I've spent the last one hundred years dreaming of this moment. I practiced everything I ever wanted to say to you, every word, to make you understand exactly what you stole from me... Freya to Odin: I've spent many long winters thinking about what I would say to you as I watched you take your last breath... Baldur to Freya: But now I realize, I don't need you to understand anything. I don't need you at all. Freya to Odin: But now I realize there is only one thing I need you to know. You have no hold on me anymore. Then as Baldur was strangling Freya to death, she told him that she loved him. And as Odin was being choked by Freya, he said that he always loved her.
