@@F23GreyGhost I wouldn't say pichu is top 5, I think he is on the low end of mid because he is so undeveloped and unused. In ultimate we will see since I think Zer0 underrates him a little bit since he got buffed and the chain of up airs still works and does a little more damage with less knockback growth at the moment. Edit: He also gets rage easier than most of the cast. So, he will build up damage quickly on most opponents. Though his problem will be his weight so he will die quickly. Which if people don't know this Pichu is barely lighter than Jigglypuff in Melee. Where people went wrong in finding this is in fact what moves they used to prove it as Pichu dies 3 damage earlier to a fully charged Fox fsmash in Melee than Jigglypuff in at least NCST V1.2. So going by this, Pichu is likely going to be lighter in than Jigglypuff in Ultimate. Pichu is also lighter in Pokémon if you look on Serebii. If they went with canon weight for every Pokémon Mewtwo would be a heavy, so this may not happen like it did in Melee.

Yeah, I thought it was generally accepted that Robin was male and Corrin was female. Heck, those are the default genders in Fire Emblem Warriors if I remember.
@@michaelbesser5348 Which is weird because the love interests the game pushes you towards, Chrom and Aqua, would suggest the opposite. Though Male Robin has Lucina, there isn't really an equivalent for Female Corrin.
I disliked it because of the first sentence and then liked it because of the second lol. Also smash4 female corrin is ugly (why does she always have her mouth halfopen and why does she always kinda just look so dumb) her Ultimate sprite is infinitely better
Oh, something else I forgot to add to the Avatar gender debate: Part of the reason male Robin and Female Corrin are bigger, I suspect, is child units. You see, in Awakening, with the exceptions of Chrom and Robin's children (Lucina and Morgan, respectively) the child units come from the mothers (ex: Inigo is always Olivia's son no matter who she pairs with). That means that a male Robin could freely sleep with anyone and not be worried about losing a child unit permenately, but a female Robin, if they married someone other than Chrom or someone who can only marry Robin, were to marry, say, Fredrick, you permenately lose out on at least 1 child unit. In Fates, the opposite is true. Child units are based off of the fathers in that game (ex: Midori is always Kaze's daughter), so a female Corrin could marry whoever she wanted whereas a male Corrin would be extremely limited.
I love how for both Toon Link and Mega Man, it was just Yeti being awesome at the big house. Also thanks for finally recognizing the potential Toon Link has. I do think he is pretty good too.
I think that the insight that ESAM gave on cloud and bayo was very interesting. It was a little verbose, and I found it hard to keep up at first, but the more I thought about it the more it stuck with me. Superb analysis.
Anyone else remember when side b helped Mewtwo recover? Honestly, this game had it's bullshit and it's flaws, but it was really good and it is extremely fond to me. This game gave me so many memories, so many friends, and even got me to be as serious as I am about competitive play. I've held and won the only 3 tournaments at the Boys and Girls Club in Bentonville, Arkansas, and that honestly gave me much more hope and prowess going into Ultimate. Thank you Smash 4, can't wait to see you at future Smash Cons.
While I'm so excited for Ultimate I will deeply miss the joy S4 brought me and my friends over the last 4 years. It's a great game despite rage and Bayo.
Man, i played Smash 64 back in the day and then Melee. And then i completely skipped Brawl and Smash 4. I kinda wish i was into Smash when Meta Knight was a good character.
If pikachu is as good as everything thinks he is he's gonna have some stiff competition for best pikachu in ultimate. Will be interesting to see what happens in the meta. If pika ends up being the best initially ESAM is set up for some great early success...unless nintendo insta nerfs the character.
@@AxelAlexK I don't see how you could nerf pikachu without changing his moveset. Or the engine of the game. Pikachu was pretty much looks built for the meta we are about to face from the outside in. Him and Roy are already two Ultimate characters stuck in sm4sh, but pika is that x10.
@Leannan It is a very weird thing. Some top players think that their main is underrated (such as ESAM and Elegant), while others think that their own main is overrated (such as ZeRo, Dabuz, and Ally). In terms of playerbases, mains of lower tiered characters tend to overrate their respective mains. For example, Lucas' and Roy's playerbase/fanbase (coincidentally both are DLC characters) are pretty much built on players who think that they are underrated. Or at least it feels like that is the case.

I actually respect the fact that ESAM thinks his mains are god tier, rather than trying to john by saying his characters lose certain mathups or are dogshit. Like when Leffen used to unironically say that fox loses to everyone or Hbox said puff was trash tier and that he was the only reason puff seems good.
ESAM, you're single-handedly the best pro at the game in terms of explaining content, making arguments/cases and understanding the inner workings of the game with as close to no bias as possible. You always provide realistic information and can present it ways that don"t sound rushed or not thought-out. Thank you for all the work you do and the patience you demonstrate in your videos, they're always quality.

MAYBE the only nuance to add there is that her neutral is okay (not OP) unless you get camped, and she can struggle with killing if she didn't ladder you and you avoid Witch Time. And edgeguards. And d-tilt uair. And DA WT uair. And fair 1 f-smash.
@@JoelDZ What do you mean 'Good neutral', Bayo is forced to either camp or use heel slide to get in, there is no such thing as a neutral game when playing Bayo - just a lever that you switch between camping and sliding with lol.
I can't help but wonder how much better G&W in Ultimate will be due to losing his weakness to projectile camping, tilts out of dash (All three of his tilts can kill at reasonable percents, so being able to connect them more easily is pretty huge), and having some silly new combo/kill set-ups made possible by his new bomb fair. The only real loss was uair as a kill move, but now it's an excellent tool for harassing people who are trying to land and racking up damage, so it's debatable whether it was much of a nerf if at all.

There's a bunch earlier than ding dong. Like Wario's kill confirms with full waft. On certain characters he has true kill confirms as low as 30% center stage with upair to waft or nair to waft. Unless we include stuff like shine spark killing at 0...or dtilt to KO punch killing at 15%...

Pika at 5? ESAM is a great player and entitled to his opinion. And also, I'm not a top player so ESAM knows things I could never know but objectively other top players do, and every other top player for the most part other than ESAM puts Pika in the 10-17 range from what I've seen. And objectively pretty much every character in his top 10, and some outside his top 10 had better results than pikachu. Many significantly better results. Pikachu never won a supermajor, for example. I just don't get why he attributes Nairo/Marss success with ZSS as the player carrying the character but doesn't hold the same for pikachu. I just don't see it man. I still think Pika has some undeniable issues when it comes to killing consistently and killing at reasonable percents that puts him just outside of top 10. Not to mention getting walled out due to short range and dying early.
ak15810 He literally said it was mostly bias because it was his last tier list. I don’t think he really cared about stats that much. Plus he wasn’t looking at tournament results to weigh in on his rankings.
Esam has shown many times that killing with pika is not a problem, pika is one of the few characters that can bypass being walled out because he has a neutral breaking tool aka QA. The only argument against pikachu not being top 5/10 is results.
The only thing I would change is I think Mewtwo is top 5 easy. He doesn't lose to Cloud, we saw so many Mewtwo players just destroy Clouds. Remember Wadi vs Tweek? So he only really loses to a character who can't kill, who he can keep up with or beat in every other area, so even if it's 60-40 it's nothing close to unwinnable. He also probably beats sonic because he can actually punish his shield with shadow ball, can force approaching with shadow ball, gets out of Sonics kill throw combo earlier because of his faster air dodge, can combo him for a lot of damage to take the lead and camp him, etc. He also beats Fox. They can both blow each other up pretty well but Mewtwo can't get gimped and can destroy Fox off the level. The only reason it looks even is because Mewtwos do a lot of bad air dodges and never punished Fox for running up and shielding and up smashing a for a lot of his kills. He can also avoid up air juggles better than anyone really did in smash 4, that just would have taken more time. His ability to land was never optimized. While you spent time learning to perfectly edge cancel up b so you could use it sometimes (and even you have said you could have pushed it farther) no Mewtwo pushed his up b cancels that hard. The disadvantage against Cloud isn't nearly as bad if you could up b cancel consistently. His down b was never optimized either. If you had a really cerebral player who was willing to risk it more often you could have Mewtwo punish people for doing run up shield by killing them at ~60%. I feel as the game advanced he would just keep climbing. He is who I believe would be the "20XX" if it were to have continued.
It's funny that my mains Luigi and Lucina are ranked 14th and 12th. I never cared about tiers. I only played both who I liked and who I am good with. I like Lucina and I am good with Luigi
You forgot out that MK completely bodies Peach. If the Peach loses a neutral exchange once against a MK with even a little bit of rage, that could be the stock which is very stressful for the Peach player.
