If you're like me jumping from PS3 to PS5, I personally say absolutely. Even if you just get the $15-20 SE. I seriously forgot how awesome this game is, I'm playing my first run through in like 6 years. Going through all the twist and turns again like the first time has been just awesome. Not even kidding when I say its top 3 of all the games I've played this year.

It would be worth it if they could update it without breaking mods lol

The farm is slightly more than what you presented, you can build it up and hire farmers to tend the crops, hire a steward, refurnish the house, and buy livestock. Then there is a pantry in the house where you can get everything you planted plus eggs and milk if you get livestock. I felt all told the content was worth $20, and I play on PC.

As much as I hate Bethesda re-releasing games, GODD Howard is right. Why would they stop publishing the same game over and over again if it earns them millions because people keep buying it?

Talked my friend into getting it as well and we are completely lost in the game yet again. There's just something so immersive about Skyrim. you look up and 3-4 hours have gone by. really wish you could still get achievements with mods on. I just like the game to look more next-gen and it's sad I get penalized (no achievements) for upgrading a game they should have upgraded themselves. 60 frames are always nice though.

With these remasters and such. Why don't they ever finish up any cut content? or expand some existing content rather then just making adjustments? If Fallout 4 ever gets a remaster, they should finish up the Chinese Assault Rifle and the underwater questline.

It has more homes than expected, still welcoming. I do love how we have an armor room showcase in each one. Also you must have a bug in game, I'm able to fast travel to my farmstead.

FYI: Dwemer spider control rod is in the vanilla game. You can pick one up during Hard Answers quest in the Dwemer museum. Not new content.

I had the most fun with the fishing dlc WITHOUT THE FISHING. I thought the quests were often very funny and warm, with one big surprise in the end. If you find fishing itself boring, just use a quick walkthrough (Camelworks guide on the 21 fishes is awesome) to pick up the fishes and then run the questlines normally.

You can turn off hardcore mode in Fallout NV. You just don't get a achievement by beating the game if you turn it off.

Honestly I've enjoyed the new content as a PC player. I think it was totally worth the $20 price tag. Sure, there are better mods out there, but this content does feel better integrated imo than most mods. If you're a fan who wants more Skyrim snag it, or if you're new to Skyrim snag it.

I was actually convinced I had installed something incorrectly when the fishing lady said, "here... it's all in this note" Like... this is official Bethesda content. Really confusing move to do it this way. Most moderately sized mod projects these days can at least figure out how to inject questlines with simple NPCs with custom voices.

Thanks for this Marty, as I can only play Skyrim on PS4 now your tip about the faster load times and improved graphics was very helpful. I may well buy the upgrade now. The down side is that I’ll have to make my cuppas before starting the game up as I’ll no longer get those extra minutes waiting for the cell to load! 😊

For PlayStation players this is worth it considering we do not have access to quality mods.

I love the survival mode. It's really fun if you play as a warrior, since health regen isn't a thing you have to prep more for dungeons and melee fights are more tense. Was watching movement more carefully to side step like in a Souls game, while in base I'd just hold up my shield and block.

I'd argue that just going with SE which already has a good amount of free mods is the better option than AE but if you really want the cc stuff although you can hardly call it free as the price is simply tacked onto the game then go for AE I hope they also made the fps more stable as well for all versions of the game.

my all time favorite class in skyrim is a necromancer, enchanter, smith, Breton or red guard, that uses only the scimitar you can make the sword so strong in the early game its great. use summons or a reanimated character for your long range attacks

Considering Todd only got $10 from me for the Legendary Edition back in 2014, I would say I gladly paid the extra $20 for the hundreds of hours played so far, and have been enjoying my return with the new content too.

I first played Skyrim when it came out in 2011. Actually pre-purchased it. Played through four times before putting it down for other games. Just recently booted it up again on my Xbox and then found all these “new” things available and I’m now reenergized to play again. I saw the fishing quest but until I saw this video I couldn’t figure out how to get it. Actually already had it but didn’t know it. Thanks for clarifying it for me. Great video by the way…..

I bought this edition and I love it I was looking for a reason to start a new playthrough and this did it. With the addition of fishing to the survival mode I feel it's now finally balanced and fair. I'd say it's a solid bargain if you've never bought anything from the creation club even if you did the new content is worth the money. Is it worth the 50 dollar price tag maybe for new comers.

I barely started playing Skyrim this year, i like the fact the game just gives you a ton of quest. 68 hours in I haven’t killed alduin yet. Once I beat alduin I’m killing mirrak then I’ll pay for the upgrade

I loved you noted “you need an internet connection for creation club” to those who never played Skyrim. Pretty much only those who are still under a rock with dial up haven’t played Skyrim.

being able to teleport to your homestead would fit into the lore just fine. it could even be a quest line... turn your home into your central hub... sounds cool. shutting off fast travel and adding civil war mods is pretty cool. for the storm cloaks. new dragon born new imperial empire...

Honestly I didn't think this would be worth it, but all of the creation club stuff is actually great. It's an amazing amount of fun. I've enjoyed just walking around skyrim now, there's just so much stuff.

I know I’ll play this again with all the new stuff and try a new build but will somehow go back to stealth archer

0:50 as someone who played through the main quest and some mods with just FPS boost earlier this year the performance change is very noticeable. The framerate is pretty much perfect now at 60 fps. There used to be pretty consistent hitches in certain areas with FPS boost.

So, I’m an Xbox One S user. I went ahead and upgraded to Anniversary Edition. I’ve been playing Skyrim for years, and this is my first unmodded play through in a LONG time. I gotta say, Anniversary Edition is worth it. For what you’re paying for you get A LOT. The new creation club content is not thrust upon you immediately after exiting Helgen (like it once was). Now you have to discover it. Feels a lot better that way. It makes the courier visits exciting and interesting. All the new homes are awesome, with shockingly good acquisition missions. The new content is VERY cool. They fit well in the world without feeling contrived or out of place. The only thing that could make them better is if the missions had fully voiced npcs, but that’s asking a lot. If you’re on the fence, get the upgrade, and then start a new unmodded game. It made Skyrim interesting again.

The one thing that frustrates me about anniversery edition is the fact that it automatically installs all creation club content when you load up skyrim. I want to play with house mods and new armor sets but i dont want zombies or arcane archery. The only way to disable these and handpick which creation club mods i want is to completely uninstall skyrim, redownload it, and then go into creation club and redownload everything i want to use and just never close skyrim again. Its very painful and i wish theyd allow me to uninstall creation club mods from the creation club menu.

not sure if this happened with anyone else, but i play on xbox and i have special edition and when my game updated it was fine at first but the next day i got that black screen bug. thing is i didn't have any mods installed, only some creation club content. i was pretty bummed out cause it was a new playthrough i had started only a few days before and i was pretty far through some big quests. i wish anniversary edition didn't mess up saves :/

I Played a ton of Skyrim on 360 and I did pick up the Special Edition on Xbox One but really only put in a hand full of hours. So the bulk of my Skyrim experience comes from 2 generations ago. I think I'm finally ready to go back and will probably pick this up.

Getting to replay this masterpiece with all of the additional content on PS5 has been nothing short of perfect. After several playthroughs since Skyrim’s initial release, being able to jump right in as a leveled, one handed - fire mage at the level needed for the “Good stuff” to commence without the tedium of a having to re-live a first time-esque playthrough, all while running at 60FPS on my PS5, is a dream.

Just got anniversary edition on switch. Been playing the same game since 2011 with only official content, no mods, no creation club. So this special plus anniversary content is very refreshing. Almost like another official dlc but not quite.

Imagine fishing and reeling in a damn sword. Also the dwarven spider thing was done already, just on a smaller scale

TBH, I'm Quite disappointed with the auto update feature in AE. I haven't seen this train of thought being promoted by any content creator, but the truth is AE is mediocre and completely hindering to the modding community. And I don't mean the mediocre, carelessly curated handful of 90 second mods found in this version; but the actual nexus community who worked pretty much free of charge in Skyrim for the past ten years. The fact that the number one download in Nexus since AE release is the downgrader patch, and by a substantial margin (3x downloads compared to the next most popular mod in the month) really speaks about how the community feels about this. Most mod authors have moved on in their lives and in their projects, and what as a modding hobbie 5 years ago is now completely unrealizable due to present-day responsibilities. And they have every right to, by the way. But this implies the mods that, let’s be honest, made Skyrim what it is and kept it relevant for a decade have now lost support and will not be reworked into AE edition. This, in all truth, is not only a fatal blow to the community that kept the game alive, but to the game itself. In the video itself is mentioned how most of the content dilutes to simple gameplay experiences with a handful of exceptions, which are truly shameful when compared to the free mods put forth by the community. And this, added to the fact the modding community has literally dissolved, means the death of the game. If they had decided to keep it as an optional addon, or a separate version of the game discounted to previous game owners, none of this would've happened. But Bethesda chose the Blizzard way of sticking their greedy greasy corporate fingers in the community and directly intervene with the way the game had adapted to both its consumers and the current market. Mark my words, this will be the last release of Skyrim, for it can no longer rely on the people that kept the game alive for all these years: modders.

My mods broke, so i decided to start a new vanilla run and bought the full AE, i have had a blast playing the new content, only thing that bummed me out was the voice acting which sound as something a mod on nexus would sound and not payed content.

I bought it a week ago after beating the game on other platform and finally got to play it on my Steamdeck with bunch of mods and it’s still good experience and I feel like some dungeons on main quests are modified so I don’t experience the same old ones I already beat

My girlfriend JUST got into gaming and has never played skyrim, so I think she will really love this edition! :)

I only played through the main quest 10 years ago... And playing through that again, plus all the DLC and the creation club content for the first time has been such an amazing experience! I'm really happy with my purchase so far!

One thing to note as someone that has no wifi since I had a house fire. If you download the creation club content online then go offline. You can still access all of it as I have been playing Skyrim at a family member’s right now.

whats crazy is that I have played through Skyrim like 3-4 times and have put in thousands of hours over the years but still never played through the vampire dlc. So I have another excuse to buy Skyrim for the 6th-7th time.

My Skyrim Special Edition is gonna be forever queued for updating on Steam lol. On my limited free time I've been itching to go back to Skyrim but with all the amazing stuff the community has made. The loadout is basically complete and I'm ready for when I finally have the free time to go all in and I won't let this update that breaks current mods stop me!

I got it on PC. I think its worth it. Sure I can mod my game, but the bigger quests that come past the free one is worth $20 IMO. The extras past that like different armors and farming etc is a nice bonus past that.

It's just a great game, more DLCs please, I will pay handsomely

Back when it first came out me and my little brother made up a game for how long the loading screen were on the 360

i dont know if it's just me but i find that the graphics are a bit more clear and the colours pop more after the update on pc.

I loved Skyrim and I even supported the special edition, but there are so many good games out there that need playing. That 20*cough* 18 dollars can help buy another game or even give me another near 2 months of game pass to try and play other games. You treated me well Skyrim, but your time is done now.

I completely agree about the reused dialogue lines! I was so excited to start my new Skyrim: Fishing Peacefully Edition and then I get there and they just said very generic ass lines.... I was like OH COME ON

Played the first V edition years ago. Bought the AE version and I am loving playing this game again. Can't wait for VI, hopefully in the next couple of years. Fingers crossed...lol

I've been getting the 0kb bug a lot with the special edition. Like at least once every hour or so

I loved the AE on PC! They were saying 40 hrs extra for new chars, possibly 20 extra hrs for a high level character. So I figured an additional 20 hrs for $20 upgrade? Not a bad deal. When I finished all 74 additional pieces of content (confirmed with UESP), all the weapons, armor, spells, homes, pets, mounts, and arcing story quests, it took my L230 char an additional 70+ hrs. I located my family at the Lake View Manor but Hendraheim is my fave bachelor pad, and Golden Hills Plantation was incredibly useful and made me almost 15K a day by planting rare alchemy ingredients!

I wish they added sea travel. Not fast travel by ship but just smooth sailing, maybe a few storms. You can go below deck to eat or sleep or look out the port hole

There are perks and builds and multiple quest endings that fundamentally change the game, pets and new companions as well that change role playing aspects. There is too much to list or get into but I can see why people would assume its not much. Its actually a lot role playing content for people who cant acess pc mods. I do not support the price tag but facts are facts. Also backpack types are essential in survival mode (especially for a skooma trader rp/ smuggler rp) along with camping since there is a massive weight limit and no fast travel.

I own Skyrim and I’ve still never played it.

I suspect the next gen graphics upgrade is the HD texture pack that PC has had for years now. I am seeing lots of textures and details that look better than they did on Xbox one.

I will admit that my bar is pretty low but the only problem I have with this is that I didn't get a fresh achievement list.

TLDR: It was worth it to me lol This edition made me reload my oldest still existing game on special edition, a level 57 Nord last played in 2018. And he was a recreation of my very first (and only character) on 360. He was my last vanilla play through, my achievement getter, my do every quest regardless of alignment guy. Started finally leveling up the things I had avoided, Got him to level 80 like he deserved, and since he was much older than my other saves I went to the Thieves Guild and greyed his hair, gave him wrinkles. Gave the Ebony Warrior a good death. All this just to head to Goldenhills to start a lavender farm so old Bjørn Stormborn could retire within cannon. Picked up the game a freshman in high school, gave my character his happy ending a married man with a toddler. Bethesda may’ve just done this for a money grab, but I certainly don’t regret it.

1:58 I'm pretty sure you can turn off hardcore mode in FONV? I know for a fact that I played with it on and then turned it off once I unlocked the achievement. Did they remove that option in an update?

I got the update and picked up the upgrade for twenty bucks. I just took my PS4 apart and cleaned it and added some new thermal paste so it doesn't run so loud and I can hear the game. Anyway I've been playing the quest with the saints and seduction. Those golden and dark bandits are handing me my ass lol. I have high level archery and sneak. They detected me right away and start attacking. I'm a level 37. I'm having a good time with it tho.

I’m actually new to Skyrim.. I like the medieval sword & sorcery vibe.. I even made my character look exactly like the villain from the 80’s cult classic Sword & the Sorcerer lol

I'm debating on getting it just to check out the new content but don't wanna buy a 10th copy for my ps4. I don't think I can discover anything outside the new content, I platniumed it twice and feel like I've done everything worth doing.

It is on my wishlist, along with 90 other items. I absolutely will enjoy it because it will freshen the game. I'm ok with $20 for the apx $120 content I don't already have from grabbing CC whenever I could catch it for free. Problem is, I only see it as DLC which I very rarely purchase for any of the games I have enjoyed. For $20, I'm currently looking at 8 games on the Steam sale and trying to decide which ones I'll get. As much as I adore Skyrim and a year hasn't gone by that I don't play, it will just have to get in line and take seat.

I know I’m the minority, but I’ve been a gamer longer than most of youve been alive and I’ve never thought of playing Skyrim. Too big of a game for my taste, too much commitment. That being said, I jumped in on PlayStation 5, anniversary edition, free of charge from ps+. Started a week ago and let me tell you, I’m mindblown at the biblical size of this game. I really don’t know where to even start but I’ve finally got the hang of the game. My friend recommend to run pass the troll and I didn’t realize what he was talking about until the 7 thousand step climb, and I instantly knew what not to do 😂 I’m now level 17 and I came back for that troll and slayed it for good measure. But the game is absolutely fantastic on the ps5, especially being free, and in a way I’m happy I waited and got to experience 60fps and everything for the first time. Loading times are so fast, I can’t even look at the 3d gear on screen.

The engine update will be worth it get people used to modidng for what I'm guessing is a similar engine that Starfield will using plus even move stability but I would subject if your pc a heavily modded play threw wait a few months after the game is done updating the bug fixes are down. Or start new play game lightly modded experience with basic mods .

What if I'm halfway through everything on special edition then buy anniversary upgrade. Will it gives me the new quests and content still during my playthrough or do I need to start a new game

If I upgrade from Special Edition to Anniversary Edition on Xbox One S is the placement and density of bushes and grass going to change? My understanding is the free update to Special Edition won't trigger these changes but the Anniversary Edition does.

Im on pc and i actually recommend it still if youre interested in a vanilla playthrough

A lot of this stuff is in my special edition version of Skyrim. Fishing is in the game for example...

I upgraded on PC and my Xbox series S because I'm one of those skyrim suckers. My perspective on it is that the upgrade is worth not having to pay microtransactions
