I loved this serie of videos and love your work ! I'm planning to buy one soon and try to learn as many thing as i can before, and now I want to buy one even more
i must say, they are relatively easy to work on when there's no rust. that might be true for most cars of this age though. bring that pug back to life and enjoy it
That broken bumper is a big setback, there are not too many good bumpers left, so that is going to be a difficult one. (Same for the center caps on the wheels) Anyway it’s nice to see the progress made, keep up the good work. A few tips: the fan in the ceiling console just needs a small drop of oil, then it will be quiet. There should be a ground strap between the clamp on the catalytic converter and the chassis, it seems to be missing on your car. The backlighting of the top center console screen does not work, it looks like 2 of the 3 lightbulbs are broken. A bit of spray glue can fix the loose fabric on the side panels in the backseat.
Wow thanks for the info and the tips! the backlight is an easy fix, the screen itself however is not showing anything, still haven't solved that one. could the missing strap on the clamp cause a check engine light? i've been fighting with that off camera.
@@Retrospek Don't throw it away, front bumpers for the coupe's are rare and expensive. A bad bumper still costs 400,- EUR... I have center caps for these wheels. I can send you one so you can replicate them on your 3d printer if you want to.
you can to some degree 3dprint replacement patches in the bumper the plastic should be PC-PBT which you can also buy as printer filament. I repaired my own replacement bumper that came with a small damage using a patch with glueing tabs on the back and then plastic welding it in using weldingrods i also printed myself. The old bumper i am going to attempt to repair in the next summer. It has cracks where the headlights are and a smaller crash damage from someone backing into my car
Oh man, thank you so much for this content, I can totally relate to you. I have same color and engine as you, just different interior specs (SE with black leather), I bought this car 3 years ago, with same reason, to restore it to factory conditions. I bought 3D printer, just to print parts for this car, main printing project was those caps for starfish wheels, I see you missing those, but I also see this is captured year ago, if you still did not found it, we can get in touch for model. Also thing same as yours, after fixing bumper I had small crush and had to drive to bulgaria to pick up new, which contact I'm willing to share with everyone who suffer from coupe bumper :) I had ups and downs with fixing this car, but still loving it and planning to keep. You are giving M539 Restorations vibe, maybe peugeot does't have as strong community as bmw, just keep doing this great work(and improve camera quality), fixing these great old cars and this will turn out great.
Thank you for the kind words! The crash happened earlier this year and the new bumper literally just went on the car last week, that's how much i had to search an work to get one, was a nightmare. Not to freak you out but i heard that the rear glass is even more impossible to get a hold of, take care of yours and get it insured if you haven't. I agree, if anything bugged me working on this car, it's the lack of community and *actual* information out there, even the 406coupe Forum was not that big a help as i originally anticipated... If you're willing to share your center-Caps files, i'd happily print and install them in the next video.
@@Retrospek Seems like yt doesn't like links, if you are 406coupeclub member, I just posted there. Also, forgot to mention on previous comment, hopefully you still have that aluminium gear knob, that was unique for coupe, try to get it back and keep it OEM :) also it is still possible to find it via some local peugeot dealer.
Looks like you put alot of time and effort into getting it back to the streets.. so why didnt you go for the V6? Just bought the 3.0 myself, its a hell of a machine compaired to the 2.0 and 2.2, or even the 2.2HDI... i driven all of them in the saloon models.:)
True, if you want the full 406 coupé experience you should go for the V6, i would then prefer the XFZ. But the 2 litre engines also deserve love and for a daily driver are more than enough. In all honesty, the original reason for buying a 2 litre was that we had plans for an engine swap. We eventually decided against that for multiple reasons, i will go into all that in the next ep. Thank you for watching!
@@Retrospek I have the newer XFX engine. My old 2.0 XU10 vs the XFX i have now allmost both do around 10-11km/l.. so it was an easy choice to go for the V6 =) The 2.2HDI does around 16 km/l with a 170-180HP remap and pulls like a train. So it you want a daily driver, thats a no brainer tbh :) I dropped a follow and a like.. GL with the project. :)
@@justincase9471 i do have it.. But im not sure you can use it on other ecu's. It was my own originale map that got downloaded, modifiet, and then uploaded back to ecu again.
Thanks. Manual says with the engine cold, check if the coolant level is between min and max. nothing else. System Capacity is 4.25 litres, that is if you drain every last drop and refill.
