It was the worst episode of the series. If it was a pilot, which I think it was, they cast the wrong actors, none were impressive or could have carried the show. Guess that’s why it never amounted to a spin-off.

I remember this, this was a back door pilot. I think the reason it failed was because it was too similar to The Nanny. You had the single woman down on her luck (Fran-Mary Ruth), the boss who’s a single parent (Mr. Sheffield-Mr. Anthony), a British employee (Niles-Claude), a wisecracking employee (C.C.-Kim), and the child in need of a mother figure (Brighton/Maggie/Gracie-Mimo).

Haha it was always one of my favourites but I thought the joke was that they were similar to The Nanny (one of the characters reptesented someone in the Nanny), they just worked in a hair saloon instead and not that it was supposed to be a spin-off that sounds pretty lame actually.

I am sorry Mr. Anthony you did not make that up, Ringo Starr did. "Your sixteen your beautiful and your mine". This is a perfect example of why male hair stylists generally make more money than females, straight or gay. Women love to be flattered & fussed over and if they are handsome it just adds to their experience in the salon. Yetta is great, the fumes give her a buzz. 😂😂

Everyone is saying this pilot was just a clone of The Nanny, but it reminded me more of 'Cheers... But in a Salon.' Not a 1:1 obviously, but with the core of the show being the potential romance between casanova Sam/Anthony and ditzy blonde Diane/Mary Ruth, and the rest of the characters being their co-workers and clientele.

I think the main reason this didn't work was because at that point it was very dated. It would have worked in the seventies or the eighties but it just wasn't the type of show people were watching in the 90s.
