I just watched Thomas and he was in Claridges , I think every top hotel is after Thomas he is so good at his job if I win lotto I want to stay in one of these hotels I prefer the old world hotels ,
Interesting watching him do this show years ago for the claridges and now Corinthia. I used to love doing business with the events team here, they're lovely
I love his precision and skill. He's truly in the job he was meant for. Also, anyone else getting some Christopher Plummer (from the 60's) vibes from him? Such class and elegance!
I have stayed at this hotel - the service is wonderful- especially breakfast - we had a very present waiter ; a true professional . That was 2017 . Can’t wait to return.
I have stayed places where I had a hand-written welcome note in the room on arrival. It's a lovely touch. I ordered tequila on line recently, and got a hand-written thank you as well. I hope good manners never go out of style.
A few years ago. The company I work in had a award ceremony in a fancy Hill country hotel.. The award recipients had a suite with concierge service.. and extras. A hand write note on arival was indeed nice.. I get few times to brag about it. Im never going to a place like that with my own money. But I'm so happy I was given a glimpse ...
I have a feeling he out grew the last place. I could tell he seemed excited by trying new things and was advised by travel agents there's competition with places that are trying new things... Claridges works because it's service is consistent, but I could see that getting boring.
As an appraiser and someone who obsesses over bone china, I nearly jumped out of my skin over the broken teapot, and died a thousand deaths over the bespoke 15,000 piece banqueting service!
literally any other normal person: oooh wow such wonderful service, what exquisite attention to detail! the furnishings, the china, all incredible me: what fountain pen is that and what ink is he using. i need brand names and nib sizes
What a shame to cut corners and have stainless steel cutlery instead of silver plate especially with authentic English bone china. Stainless steel belongs in a hospital not in a luxury hotel.
I used to make macrame pieces to order. I always added a hand written thank you card within the order. It’s a lovely touch and customers really seem to like it. ❤
Attention to detail? Yet he opens the door to where the china is kept and a sign is hanging sideways because it now has only one pin holding it. Back of house I know, but how many have opened that door and not straightend that sign? That is where the attitude starts. It's is the little things
Actually it does. First the casting. Liquid clay is poured into the hollow casts. Of lid, pot, handle, and spout. Then they have to dry slightly before being removed from the cast. The handle and spout are then "glued" on with liquid clay. Further drying is recuired. Until solid. Note that clay shrinks when drying ! When tested for no internal flaws, and if the lid actually fits, the pot is glazed. Then dried and fired. Preferably 2-3 times over. Lastly the pot gets decorated. Then fired again. There is always a chance of something going wrong during this process. One small air bubble can explode a full oven ! Plus a tiny spot of burnt in dust will make a tea pot second rate, at best....
I am completely confused by this video. Is this the same guy I saw as the manager of Claridge's in London in a special produced by the BBC? Ithis Corinthia also part of the Maybourne Hotel Group?
Just think, you reach your final day on Earth, you look back at your life lived and see that you spent most of it running around after a bunch of over-privileged rich people, pandering to their every pathetic whim, making them feel important because they have money. You spent your valuable time being their servant and that was the sum total of your working component of life’s journey..
That is why I left London... After 15 years of working in hospitality in hotels like Rosewood, The Lanesborough, and finally Corinthia... It is way too much stress, rush and struggle... Even though have to admit Corinthia is one of the very few hotels in London that actually care about their staff and rewards them accordingly. Rosewood wasn't bad either, and is a pretty stunning hotel. After some time however, you get tired of all the maddnes involved in serving the rich and famous!!! So basically you are spot on...
Wait a minute … this ONE man is making executive cost decisions for a hotel for a 15,000 banqueting service & he just broke a tea pot that takes a a week to make. This is how you can go bankrupt overnight & look… there’s no one there to stop him & his inflated ego. Wow ! No wonder the UK is going under, it’s not just Johnson & Brexit .. .it’s decisions like this by ONE MAN. Ridiculous.
chill out dude. anyone can break a teapot (and it wasn't even complete yet and not at its full strength). nothing to do with his management abilities. and wtf does this have to do with Brexit. you need to get out more.
