Congratulations Eric I love watching these hunting videos because (even though I don't hunt) you guys all have so much respect and such persistent attitudes I can see the passion when you hunt these animals and there seem to be a lot of people who don't seem to understand it's not just for fun it's a way too sustain for your family's as well anyway haha people like you guys are my inspiration keep doing you 😄

I love the passion you have for hunting. I'm a shooter, not a hunter much anymore, but the great attitude and focus you have for your craft got me excited watching you experience your big moment. If we had elk in NC, I might take hunting up. Congratulations! For what It's worth, I thought both were good shots with a bow at what looked like 40ish yards. You just had really bad luck on the first one.

I love this video! I know exactly how you felt too. I arrowed a 190" whitetail in September and it lived. Later on in November my brother harvested it during gun season! Best feeling in the world!

I've watched ALOT of hunting videos over the years and it amazes me how hard it is to get the hunt on film the way it happened as a whole. This is probably the best all around video I've ever seen. The preperations, excitment, and ending really made me enjoy your hunt. You guys should think about filming and hunting professionally. The energy is awesome. Let me know if you all need some extra eyes on the next one!!!

I watched this video 5 years ago, and it inspired me to go out and buy my first compound and learn to hunt. Now I've had many successful hunts, I even took a nice whitetail buck on public land with a longbow last year. This year I went out and had multiple successful hunts doing spot and stalk in South Africa with my compound. Came back to revisit this video, and it still gets me fired up to get out there and hunt. Thanks for the videos guys!

Why do people watch the hunting videos if they don't want to see blood and death. Your life is so simply. Your hands are clean. Someone else kills your food for you. Either that or become a vegan. Stay away from hunting videos.

I have read these kind of comments under every hunting video I've watched today. While I, as an archer, remain somewhat ambivalent to hunting, I try to refrain from making comments on the ethical issues of killing animals. It is certainly right, that the meat industry makes animals suffer more than hunters. Now I give you that, if someone eats meat and does not like to see animals hurt, they simply should not click on videos that obviously depict that, so they don't get upset. Also those people have a warped, egotistical worldview, not taking responsibility for the consequences of their behaviour. I actually think, they should be exposed to/confronted with the suffering of animals (in slaughterhouses, as that is probably the source of the meat that they consume) and either become okay with that or quit eating meat. BUT, I'd like to point out a problem of your comment as an example of a certain kind of argument not exclusive to hunting videos: People don't only expose themselves to what they enjoy, nor would it be favourable if they did. The conclusion, everyones negative reaction or criticism is just an expression of the outrage or discomfort of having had to see something that upsets them, is ignorant to the fact, that people who are vegetarians or vegans actually criticise the killing and not it's depiction. You might tell those, they should stay away and leave people who enjoy hunting alone, but why should they do that? You wouldn't accept a pedophile's demand to stay out of his buisness, I suppose? That is analogue to telling pacifists, instead of commenting on videos about wars, they should just stay off media and ignore what's going on. Of course, again, if someone supports war, they shouldn't be offended by it's unsparing depictions. People engaging in discourse over controversial topics is part of keeping civilisation going. Nobody got the right to not be confronted with dissent.
@jaegarbombs7297
@jaegarbombs7297 6 лет назад
Maybe you can see how wrong it is when presented with an alternative to psychopathic brutality... that's why there's comments. To protect innocent lives. These animals are more intelligent than most people killing them.

Damn man, that is one MONSTER bull! Congrats!! After reading these comments, it's unfortunate that there are people out there so quick to judge and bitch about you& hunting in general, but it just shows how ignorant and uneducated people are about this sport.. because little do they know, this video was the PERFECT example of the hardwork, dedication, patience, and persistence involved with hunting (especially archery). But best part about this video is that although you had emotional ups and downs in this hunt, your positive attitude is what made the difference in you getting this bull. It's something special to watch man. I am hitting subscribe and I look forward to watching more videos! Btw, if you ever want to try a Colorado elk hunt in southern CO lemme know! Jake

I cannot stand the negative comments on this video. I realize that people have their opinions, but some of them are flat out wrong. If people knew anything about bowhunting elk, they'd understand that many times you have to shoot at longer distances. As for the first shot.. Everyone has wounded an animal. If you haven't wounded an animal, you haven't hunted much. That goes for ANY form of weapon. And for the people that say that bowhunting is more cruel than gun hunting.. you're flat out wrong. How quick the animal dies is all about shot placement. If you shoot an animal in the heart with any weapon, it'll die fast. If you shoot an animal in the guts, whether it be with a gun or a bow, the animal will die slow. I found this video inspirational. There has been times where I have wanted to give up on a spot or a certain animal and this just goes to show that if you really put the time and effort in, you will be rewarded. Thank you for posting the video and I hope to see more! P.S. Don't let the tree hugging, prius driving, obama loving commenters get on your nerves! They aren't worth your time!
@nahnope6573
@nahnope6573 5 лет назад
You don't HAVE to shoot at longer distances -- that's a choice. This dude does it routinely and there's other videos he's posted where he makes even worse shots. Shows a complete lack of respect for the animal. If you're going to take long shots, better be damn sure you're going to make it count. Practice, practice, PRACTICE!!!
@gregfoster6916
@gregfoster6916 5 лет назад
Dude when I still could I bowhunted and gun hunted. And your right about not always making a perfect shot, even with a gun. Fortunately my bad shots were simply clean misses and were only 1 maybe 2 total. Never lost or missed with bow, luckily. But as an honest hunter their is a big difference between bow and gun, they are by no means equal. It’s much harder to get a deer in range with a bow, so that gives the deer better odds, but when you poke a deer with an arrow it is almost never as quick as a gun. Most deer I’ve shot with a gun take less than 2 steps, and are completely still with in seconds, dead from the total shock impact of a bullet. I have one that ran maybe a a hundred yards or so but was dead in under 45 minutes and that was a bad shot. Bow hunting is more brutal. I’m not against it but even with a heart shot I’ve seen deer run a short distance the lay down and not die for 3-5 minutes. Double lung shot 1-2 hours. Single lung shot 4-6 hours, liver gut shot all night. Don’t lie to yourself be honest, it is what is. You gonna bowhunt you better practice hard, take high percentage shots, and get heart or double lung most all the time, or stick to guns. Peace. No offense meant, but be real
@hawkmaster3256
@hawkmaster3256 7 лет назад
you can still lose an animal even with a well-placed rifle shot. I've seen it before and so have others. the people running their mouths are the people who do not hunt and or are jealous of your monster bull. glad to see you kept with him and were able to find him

ray king Yeah, I agree. Penetration didn't look great at all. The shot distance from the point of firing to impact sounded like it was a bit far and the arrow lost velocity for a deeper pen.

Just why hunt with a bow? This video and Casey's video to me, at least proves why you shouldn't. Why not just use a modern weapon, a gun? Yes I understand you say its to feed your family etc, but using a bow seems cruel, and to me it seems the main reason to use a bow is selfish pride. Deaths over a prolonged period of time . . injuring a animal but not killing it . . . sorry. I don't agree with this.
@gethushin
@gethushin 9 лет назад
***** A bad shot can happen with any weapon on any hunt. I've seen some bow shots kill just as quick or quicker then some rifle shots, it's all about shot placement.
@pfalky2k
@pfalky2k 9 лет назад
***** gun? shoot from half a mile away. animal's hit before it hears the shot. that is NOT hunting. that IS straight simple murdering. hunter vs prey means balance. the hunter MUST be better than the prey. or they prey wins & escapes. THAT is Nature's hard & fast rule. be better. be faster. be stronger. be smarter. guns take all that out of the equation. bows, you need to be clever & stealthy enough to get close, you need to be strong enough to draw the bow. you need to be fast enough, clever enough, to take the shot when it's offered. any piss-ant coward can pull a trigger from a safe distance.
@dashby1435
@dashby1435 9 лет назад
pfalky2k I'd like to see you be able to shoot a whitetail at a mile with a firearm. I doubt you could, using a firearm is more than just fucking shooting out of your ass and "murdering". You clearly don't know shit about hunting with firearms.
@TheChadillac8907
@TheChadillac8907 9 лет назад
Mark Juric it happens with rifles too. I put down rifle hunting because it was too easy it's not even like hunting it's point pull done. And if not then you shouldn't be hunting at all. He just had bad shot placement. My uncle killed a deer last year that he shot on 3 separate occasions with a .300 win mag. So bad shot placement just happens. Bow hunting is more fair to the animals because it levels the playing field. And most of the time is a quicker death because of the size of the hole it creates and the amount of blood lost faster. So... quit bitchin and judging
@dashby1435
@dashby1435 9 лет назад
TheChadillac8907 Look pal, you don't just point a gun and magically kill an animal. You have to know the gun, know the ammo, be able to shoot the gun, make sure it's accurate, make sure there aren't any alders preventing the bullet from hitting your target, be able to get to the animal so it provides a shot, be quiet so you don't scare the animal away, spend hours, and hours, and hours, and hours hunting in the woods to find game to hunt, make sure you know where the vitals on the animals are, and then shoot it once it provides a kill shot. You don't simply sling a bullet out of your ass hole and hit a crow at a mile right between it's eyes. It takes skill and patience to hunt, I don't care if you're using a gun, a bow, a slingshot, a spear, an apache throwing star, an atlatl, a rock, whatever you hunt with takes skill to be able to use it against your prey. And of course a gun isn't the most "fair" thing in the world to hunt with, but hunting isn't about being fair. Hunting is about spending time with friends and family, being able to enjoy the wilderness, being one with earth, enjoying yourself, and hopefully getting food to bring home to feed you, friends, family, or other people. Hunters around the world shouldn't be dissing each other, especially in the world we live in where stupid douche bags are freaking out because we killed a rabbit to put food on the table. I'll be one stupid son of a bitch if I'm gonna let some fucking uneducated peta member (not talking about you) let my rights as an American and my rights to bring food on the table and enjoy life get taken away. Hunters should be with each other to fight this shit, not fuck around arguing which tool they think is best for hunting. Guns have their advantages like being able to generally kill quicker, being able to have many options with calibers and firing actions, etc. They have disadvantages too like being loud and scaring away game often, a lot of the time being heavy, having capacity laws and laws not to shoot out of vehicles, etc. Bows have advantages like being quiet, being able to legally shoot out of a vehicle, arrow options like being able to attach a string to the arrow to bow fish with, etc. They also have disadvantages like not being able to reload that quick without a LOT of practice, not as powerful as most firearm calibers, not a lot of range, etc. Every tool has it's advantages and disadvantages so lets all stop fucking around, work together, and start working towards the important things.

What a video. Thanks for taking the time to capture the ENTIRE process of the hunt. From waiting years to draw tags, endless scouting, heartbreak of a miss, and glory in success......so much more involved than what you seen on these mainstream television shows. Dedication and perseverance....you've got them both bud, and they can't be bought in a drug store!
