When ever a fuel tech video comes on I watch it. All those guys are so nice and chill and calm, they always look like there just having a blast when there at the shop.
I'm glad to see that it's not just me. Whenever I work on my projects, EVERYTHING takes longer than I expect them to and nothing fits like it should. I love watching your videos. Good luck this year in NPK, we want a win this year!!
Yep,, things taking MUCH LONGER than we first guesstimate it will is a sickness EVERYONE must endure,, it's just part of that deal. Oft times we spend more time chasing parts or a specialty tool than doing the work.
So sorry to see the Donk get damaged! That sucks! Hate to see the trim and all the body damage. You are super fortunate that your dad does all the paint and body for your rides. I just my Buick GSX into my paint and body to fix a dent and paint work on a fender and hood after a six month wait. It’s so hard to get a great paint & body guy these days. Best of luck getting the Donk right👍👍👍
Hope y'all don't every stress about getting videos out. Pretty sure the majority of us love and support you guys. Remember your health is important and to not stress.
It would be awesome to do a History of Shawn. How he got into racing, his 1st car and things like that. COME ON FOLKS AND LIKE THIS COMMENT. MAYBE WE'LL CATCH SHAWN AND PHANTOM'S EYE!
@@TheBlazerSociety I'm saying YES to both comments. We 'morons' would enjoy learning how these two began their automotive careers and how they came to be buds. We already know Shawn was an electrician and if memory serves had a successful electrical contracting business but we don't know what Danny (Phantom) did before he and Shawn went full time drag racing.
Fire donk is probably my favorite build, I love OG and the NPK, the 55 is absolutely gorgeous, but there’s just something so awesome about the fire donk! Can’t wait to see it hit the track again
From a truck driver’s perspective. Good job on the driver for keeping the truck up right. Blowing a steer tire in a big truck is the most dangerous tire to have blow out there is. I’ve been driving 26 years and have had 1 steer tire blow out I was lucky that it happened in the middle of the night on a 4 lane interstate because it took the whole 4 lanes when it blew out the rim ate in to the pavement and there was no way to turn it. So props to the driver
I am from Holland and watch everything on this cannel for 4 year and the rest of the street outlaws and love it I hoop your comming to Europe soon love the cannel
This video was recorded a few months ago, but here’s some electrical ideas but you probably already know all of this. Do you have enough electrical grounds? Body to chassis ground, block to chassis ground, block to alternator ground etc. Everything works so much better when you have a bunch of solid grounds. Sometimes after you completely rotisserie a car and put it back together everything is so sealed up with paint etc. that the few factory grounds wont work to good, so adding more grounds helps. Even after the block gets painted a lot of your electrical grounds will go away so you need to add some. In car audio everyone upgrades their electrical with the big 3 or big 4 wiring upgrade with a bunch of oxygen free 0 gauge or bigger copper wire.
Thank 187 Customs for posting this video taking your precious time !. Take your time to post another and have some rest whenever you can, we all morons can wait you guys.👍
I just can't imagine all the money you boys burn through just to do and maintain but we still love you we're praying for you we look forward to seeing a successful season.
Shawn and Phantom and your wife and son..man I hope that you guys stay safe and do well for NPK 2023 and beyond..I met you both at the The Texas Motorplex a couple of times and enjoyed it a lot..my health has gone to sh*t and looking like my days may be numbered..so I wanted to tell you guys Kick some ass ! Good luck and give them hell ! You guys deserve it !
If the E gate fails it absolutely freaks out the entire ecu it’ll throw all the 5v circuit into a frenzy. FT e gate wiring is missing a step that’s important. Also FT is supposed to be releasing an ECU patch that helps with some of the egate issues. I just went through all that with a couple e gates.
I blew a Texas speed 427 right down the middle when my e-gate sent all the boost I was assured it was my fault but after having multiple tuners look at the logs and everything that happened and looking over the wiring it was a faulty part and I don't have TV money or RU-vid money that engine took me five years to save for now I'm building a 5-3 until I can get something better and I'm just using old-fashioned Gates like I know top to bottom
@@freedomfox8183 ive been there… spent a year building a mini cooper engine for the track from oil pan to valve cover …. decided to use an e-gate instead of the vacuum assisted like normal with the aftermarket ecu… dyno’d it and ended up with a milk shake in the drain pan…. Believe me, I feel you. Not the same cubic inches … but building a 2.0 to make 350+ is a feat in itself… so I honestly feel your pain. I put a stock mother back in and threw my parts onto it (minus e-gate turbo & manifold) …. It’s a part of racing but also the worst part. You’ll get it back out even better than before. Respect 🙏🏻
2 red tops (batteries are capacitors ), extra grounds. Battery to engine - engine to frame. High amperage demand is a storage issues less than an voltage output issue. On street cars. The alt is there to keep Battery full, once the alt is powering the fluctuating amp draw of the actual components/loads it ain't gonna last long. Add a 2nd battery
We ate up a bunch of alternators on our big block boat. US alternators hooked it up and no more issues. Man I like when you guys are riding down the road chatting it up. The Texas speed run to get the motor was cool. Well except for the tire rub issue.
I'm a truck driver. I was in Arizona when that truck was "in the desert" for what it looked like. The car turned out well. I'd have never known your car was in it.
The four bolts In the lifter valley and the four bolts below the exhaust ports are what makes these heads and block a six bolt head/block. The five bolts above the lifter valley are just like any other LS head, those don’t contribute to any “clamping force” . I would imagine Shawn is aware of this and just misspoken.
Love you guys works and don’t mind waiting on quality. Hope to meet y’all some day and shake the hands of folks that work hard for us each day even though they are successful in what else they do.
You guys are doing a awesome job on this channel. Keep it. Stuff happens. Nothing u can do about it. Just roll with it. I injoying watching yals RU-vid. And and street outlaws ect. It takes time to get this stuff done. It's worth the wait. Keep up the good work. Have fun..
Just an idea I’m sure you’re aware of. You could have your alternator built to put out anywhere from 130 to 500 A and be adjustable from 12 to 48 V. Just idea
Definitely want to see the K5 videos , just picked up last year a 70 and 72 K5 their both in the POS category but I can rebuild them like you said if you can get the parts, some of them are a year out !!!!!!! Keep up the good work love everything y’all are doing.
Project doesn't always come out perfect it's always try and error . Don't stress just go thru everything you will eventually sort it out it's normal 😅💪🇺🇲💪🇺🇲💪🇺🇲💪🇺🇲
Even though you are running high output or heavy duty alternators they still burn up. You could be exceeding rpm that alternator can handle. May need bigger pulley on alternator to slow it down. Love the videos
Videos are great dudes. Phantom does a great job with content. Don’t feel Bad for being busy. Videos are awesome as usual. Looking forward to the NPK season and the F150 build
The crashed donk,, it's so good you guys look at all the issues as "the cup is half full" instead of "half empty". Staying positive is always the best way to look at stuff. "IF" you see this note there is a saying I picked up from one of those PMA books by Napoleon Hill I read many, many (over 40) years ago that helped me deal with things that went wrong. I had a concrete construction business for 30+ years and I can say I had a least 'my share' of stuff go wrong. I remembered what I read,, "Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal to or GREATER BENEFIT." My task was to do as you guys do,, LOOK FOR and TAKE ADVANTAGE of that GREATER BENEFIT. IT IS THERE,, we just need to find it.
Push come to show no matter what I love watching you Guys content. I'll always be a strong fan. Just know That you always have A CMV driver that support you always watch your stuff. I wish I could come and see you but I'm always working but keep up the good work. I love watch and you guys thanks for all you do
You guys are always working on your PHD Projects half done. But when you have your schedule and your amount of projects, it's hard to get anything done. Keep grinding while you're young and enjoy every minute of it.
I can understand about your dad wanting it better bc i work at a body shop in ky and that car has his name on it bc thats his work and he wants to show how good of work he can do.
Soooo anxious for more updates on both of the Murder Nova’s (especially the NPK car; and yes I like all your other subjects too)!!!! I know y’all are super busy, but I like seeing all the crap y’all got to go through in busy times like these (because of y’all’s personalities). I know that ain’t fair to you guys, but I really have been missing the 187 team! What’s funny is that I complain about how boring and uninteresting the shop videos are with Lutz Race Cars when they are just doing their (the same kind of) daily routine/tasks in their vids. Y’all are fun (familiar) bcuz you remind me of a good portion of my people. Anyway, I am a huge 187 MORON and will see y’all for the first time in Michigan on October 7th @ US 131 Dragway (Martin, MI). It’s a good track, y’all should enjoy your first trip up here! Thx for being a good distraction from my daily grind brother(s)! I can say your content helps a lot bc just being there (new).
If you are over drawing amperage you either need to reduce load or up size your wire size but the very best thing you can do to automotive wiring is to run Isolated ground wires to everything you possibly can period if you run Isolated grounds you will see your fuel pump run faster your water pump will turn more rpm it is well worth the work.😮
Hi Phantom, just wondering what’s going on with the Caprice wagon. I’m a big fan of the box Chevys. Can you make an update video about it soon? Thanks guys👍👍👍
@187 Customs, Besides the Elec. Water Pump, what Radiator etc. did you’ll go with? I’ve got a TT Nova I’m trying to finish the Cooling System on, and it would be great if I could pick your brains a bit about it. Want to keep this thing as cool as possible, and I know you’ll have tons of experience. Keep up the great content !!! #MoronNation
Even 6 bolts ls engins have head gasket issues above 35 lbs boost . The extra bolts are are smaller and just don’t solve the issues . After it lifts another head get fire rings put in and 1/2 inch head studs with copper gaskets and you should be good . Ls is great till you wanna go above 1500 hp then requires some love .
40 lbs is a lot for that combo.. cleetus ran something really similar from texas speed and was killing motors around 40lbs. 30-35 seems reliable. Im no expert.
If it weren't for bad luck, y'all'd have no luck at all. I honestly believe that Kicker got sucked into the black hole of woe and misery that plagues your fleet when they put the ol girl in their trailer. I have similar luck and can appreciate the persistence of Shawn and Phantom because it really just sucks sometimes. Keep smiling and goin fast.
Are all the grounds good? Grounds from the cylinder heads to the engine block, block to the frame, frame to the car body, car body to the battery? Might be good enough for things to work for a little bit, but not good enough for things to work correctly for an extended length of time? There’s a lot of powder coat on this car.
Phantom, when those electric wastegates first come out turbosmart was having all kind of trouble with them burning up. And blowing up people's motors. It wasn't the wastegates fault people were pushing them with 12 volts... they are only supposed to have 5 volts to them but no one reads the instructions.
I'm sure that the pellets is what happened to your water pump also. You gummed up the impaler which made the motor burn up from trying to turn that crap through it.
Doing a little stereo in my life if you’re drawing anywhere near the max output of amps off the alternator it will burn them out and then low power causes multiple things to burn up. I don’t know if it works the same with car parts but with car stereos, you will burn a system down on low power output.
