I have been a top fan of PMG since the late ‘80s. I have heard everything. This rendition not only makes me smile, but it brings tears to my eyes. You have done such a great job in honoring one of the greatest groups in the history of contemporary jazz. Thank you for carrying the torch forward.

Yes the attention to detail is almost too much sometimes, I can be such a geek xD Still, after hundreds of listening to the live version (The Road To You album), I still hear new details, small instrumental parts hidden in the mix. I just can't get enough of this wonderful music. It took indeed a lot of work, and more will be needed. To improve certain tunes, but to learn new ones too! Cheers

Thanks for the comparison! These tunes are truly masterworks, as much as Mozart and Beethoven's imho. Pretty sure Metheny and Mays' music still gonna be listened to in a hundred years.

I loved PMG back in the day but kind of lost touch. I don't think I ever listened carefully to what an incredibly complex piece of music this is -- floating meters, keys and tonality. It's a stunning piece, and incredibly well rendered by this band. (I hope they play live, as it would give my wife and me a good excuse to return to MTL, her birth home and the city we were married in.) Very beautifully done, First Circle!

I am a Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays fan going back to the early 80's, and the thought of anyone trying to copy the Pat Metheny Group I thought was laughable . . . . until I heard this cover. This was simply magnificent, beyond brilliant, and perfect executed. I am in chills and absolute awe!

Hey Glenn! I had similar thoughts before, and even while working on the project. This is such difficult repertoire and although the solos of course won't ever be as good as Pat's and Lyle's, I think we kinda succeed at channeling the energy and musicality of these masterworks. Thanks to Lélia and Roxane especially for this tune

Nailed it!!!!!! I've seen PMG do this live 3 times and have been a fan forever. And a lot of groups have tried to do a good cover of this song, some with and without vocals. But this is by far the best one so far. And, you guys come closest to replicating the musician and instrument setup they used. Beautiful work, guys.

Thanks, Robert!! Yeah a special attention was given to they setup, especially the keyboards one. The JX-10 was a must! Considering the amount of gear the PMG used, we just can't go the 100% imitation game, like other cover bands do. Huge money would be required, as some instruments are rare and expensive (Oberheim FVS-1 and Roland GR-300, for example...). But with the emulations of these instruments available nowadays, we can get pretty close! Cheers and thanks again :D

i first started to listen to your tribute and i noted a few deviations from the PMG version and i believe it was due to the volume on some movements on certain instruments and after a couple of minutes it hit me just how good you were and it even was so good it brought me to tears. The beauty of the music was overwhelming and i wanted more more more. Thank you for adhering to the music and translating it to the heavenly state you went into all the way to your brilliant conclusion.

That was absolutely amazing. It is amazing enough that Pat and group wrote and performed it. These guys and gals did an absolutley amazing rendition of it.
