Nice. There was a white 170 out at rockingham dragway racing last weekend too. I figured they’d be closer to a 9.5 1/4 in real world conditions which is probably why they didn’t show the times on the reveal either. Either way, 9.3 for the first pass on a stock car is very impressive

This was a brand new car dude isn’t used to and first time taking it to a track without knowing what works best and still ran a 9.3, it takes time to learn a car and what works best. 9.3 is impressive and I guarantee people will get that time down once more hit the track

I was at the track on this day and mine and my sons 11 second cars couldn’t get down this track that we usually have no issues hooking at were struggling to get down all day! DA was there the track absolutely wasn’t! That car ran very well considering there just wasn’t any hook! Just in case all the experts want to say I told you so! That 170 is going to run the numbers!!!

@@PyroBlonde7777 sir it was worth mentioning cause on October 22 the temps and DA were almost exactly the same and traction was not an issue at all! It’s worth mentioning also that there were Bracket classes on the 22nd which I believe is why track was prepped better on the 22nd and not on November 19th

Ron Silva ran his 170 at Irwindale 1/8th strip & ran a 1.35 60ft @5.930 1/8th 118.97mph. He had to take power out with the torque management just to hook up. Compared to my time slip 1.388 60 ft & 5.99 @ 118.08 with a 1/4 mile 9.304 @ 148.33, Ron had a 9.2 with power taken out! Ripa had the weather but track prep & seat time limited the potential of his 170.

The first demon was supposed to do 9.6 but most I seen were roughly mid 10's. This one supposed to do 8.9 and for a 9.3 first pass...damn impressive! Not saying first wasn't impressive but this is closer to actual claimed times.

Because they were released with 808 hp not the 840 everyone expects. And almost no one takes out all the $1 delete stuff, like passenger seat, rear seats etc. Then you need to use your drag radials on a perfectly prepped surface and properly operate the setup, staging, and trans brake, and ultimately the Christmas tree and your good/bad reaction time/hook up/launch. That's why the mid 10's like any other Hellcat Redeye that arrives at the track driven by a rookie. Most people need to take the driving school at Radford. It should be mandatory if it isnt already

Give us real world numbers....it's more impressive when someone buys a car and they do better than factory claims than buying it and being disappointed you can't come close to it. To me that's a type of false advertising, or click bait shit ya know. I brag about my best timeslips in the worst conditions. It so funny when people are saying I thought you said your car was only this fast....why you go so much faster here? I be like oh cause the weather is good today lmao!!!

How many runs it took Dodge to hit 8.91 is the question? My guess Dodge did 8.91 in the best conditions on the stickiest track ever. Gonna be hard to get it under 9 most of the time.

I would agree if he was getting high 9's on his 1st run but he knocked off a low 9 second run with no problem in not optimum conditions. Tim Kuniskis said they were getting multiple 8's when they were testing this car; quite a contrast from the original 2018 Demon just getting into the high 9's in perfect conditions with a lightweight pro driver.

The 170 has a torque tune setup in the drag mode that allows you to detune the powerban in any suitable way. If you need to change the shift point sooner or later you can do that to keep the most positive traction without breaking traction.

I could immediately tell that you were at Island Dragway. I think I still see parts of my 4.10 diff scattered down the right lane! 😜 Island’s track prep on test and tune days is always a bit shoddy. Especially this late in the season. The 170 is a monster. Definitely in the 8’s in ideal conditions/prep. Wow!

The 70 body is 110 in wheelbase. The Cuda was 108, despite EVERYONE thinking they were the same. The current wheelbase is 116 in so its never going to happen. You can put a Roadrunner on that chassis and modern drivetrain tho

This’ll definitely be a big - and proper - segment of demon owners. And someone will eventually beat 8.91 fully stock with more optimized track / car prep combined with driver techniques. That being said, to each their own… If I was going to track something I’d go all the way, cheap and fast - not $200+K. In the meantime I’ll stick to touring, canyon runs, and 1 second smoke shows.

People keep saying this but it's a modern auto that is a factory built drag car. It's not gonna be that hard to run it its already modified to run quarter mile by the factory. Thats impressive for a muscle car, i mean wtf it beata most hypercars in 1/4 mile but then its focused on dragraces so its not a surprise💪 but isn't it hybrid or something?

9.4 @ 147 is pretty damn strong. That easily beats almost everything from the factory, including EVs. 8.90s is definitely achievable.

It doesn't beat the plaid model s which costs just 89k now, the zeekr fr 001, lucid air sapphire, rimac nevera, pinninfarina Batista etc.

True, but who cares?! They are boring one trick ponies. 2 runs in them, then your on trickle mode. They'll never be a V8, and they'll never produce that thundering sound.

@@7s29This is true I love ice cars myself but that plaid is no joke especially the track pac , This Demon is fast on the track still didn’t beat a Plaids time , on the street it will absolutely useless , and that’s were 98% of us always drive

Well new for new it would be 90k some but yeah used you can find 70-80k Plaids with relatively low miles

slower than the first ever customer delivered Tesla Model S Plaid, even on the road 1/4 mile for the plaid was faster than that, even in those conditions.
