The first-ever BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. Product substance. 

I just got a 2015 435i Gran Coupe the other day and wow, it’s beyond words. I didn’t know this was my dream car until I sat down and drove it. Unsuspectingly quick, laser precise and smooth like butter. This car is the real deal.

This was beautifully presented. Honest, subtle and down-to-earth.

I love my 428i xDrive. Been perfectly reliable and utterly beautiful. It's just a shame that this old generation seems more beautiful than the new one!

Why are so many people criticizing this car for its apparent 'uselessness'? There's nothing wrong with car companies exploring new and ever-more-specific niches. A lot of market research goes into the development of a new product, and BMW wouldn't have developed the 4 series Gran Coupe if there was no demand for it. Then again, the people who cry about it probably aren't in the market for a new BMW anyway.

Such beautiful design!! The new one looks horrendous compared to this 7 years ago. Goes to show a simple more elegant design is much better than a more aggressive look we have in 2021.

The reason why BMW fans are upset about this is because we were told that the 4 series was going to replace the coupe (two door) versions of the 3 series. Now this comes out and BMW now has three different mid size series cars (3,4, and 5). In essence BMW is competing with itself here. It's like this new 4 series was meant to compete with the 3 series.

I find myself drooling when I look at this car

It is very close to the sedan, but I think it makes sense, because it adds the more elegant Coupè looks without compromising everyday practicality too much. Maybe its even more practical, because the trunk space is easier to access than on the sedan, especially with bigger objects...

I absolutely love my 2019 430i rear-wheel drive. The exterior is absolutely beautiful. The very wide stance of the chassis actually makes the 225mm wide tires look narrow and I like it. The swoop of the window frame is gorgeous too. I love it all around and the ride is very good. My only serious complaint is that my car came with unbelievably NOISY Pirelli P7 run-flat tires. They were so noisy that I had to get taken off and replaced with Michelin MXM4 touring tires. The Michelin tires really made the car very quiet but that set me back almost $1000. This is car is super, but still upset about the $1000 to replace these horrible Pirelli tires.

amazing looking car. not as elegant as the two marketing guys say though, it's more of a show off design than a subtle, elegant one. that's the only problem i find with modern bmws.

Also joining the convertible and the coupe is the Gran Coupe. Like the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, it's a coupe that has 4 doors. However, unlike the 6-er Gran Coupe, the pillar, according to spy shots, is like the 3-Series GT, consisting 4 pillars - A-Pillar, B-Pillar, C-Pillar and D-Pillar, also similar to the Audi A7 and the Audi A5 sportback. Although similar pillar layout as the 3-Series GT, it is sleeker, like its coupe brother (F32).

My favorite part is opening the trunk.

I like the 4 series gran coupe. It's both a family and also a sports car at the same time. Wonderful design guys congratulations. However guys i have a e36 3.18i 1991 bmw (automatic transmission) i can very well see that back in 1990s interior material quality was far ahead of todays..

why do bmw keep making soooooooo many models? seems like they stretch a model a few inches n BAM new model or change the roofline and BAM new model, i kinda dont get it. are sales low? or why do they seem so desperate to fill every single slot with all these inbetween models?

looks like a good car but, i think it may cannibalize 3 and 5 series sales. Also why should i pay an extra 10 grand for a hatchback 3 series? Price may need to come down or it needs to introduce some other feature 3 series doesn't have.

I m dreaming with my eyes open because of Paloma ( the most beautiful woman I ever seen ) and because the Grand Coupe is simply the sexiest car on the road , my mineral gray one is gorgeous

sooner or later they'll start getting into decimals. introducing the new BMW 4.1415 series GT xDrive with 6 doors, and it's very sporty and very dynamic.

People the BMW 4 series replaces the 3 series coupe, please get it right! Just like the new 2 series is a replacement for the 1 series coupe. BMW tries to fill up their product line from series 1-7 if you haven't noticed, just like Audi and Mercedes for instance.

Usually it is preferable for a product to speak for itself, I think.

4 Series with 4 side frameless door is good...

Looks like the 3 series GT. The 4 series was like a two door 3 series. The 3 series GT shared the ''coupe'' lines and the 4 series looks identical almost to it. The interiors are even the same.

I was pure fan of Mercedes Benz. And this summer i come to my cousin in Stuttgart to start search for my first Mercedes. Then he say to me : I know that you love Mercedes more than anything but lets look one BMW 3er. That car is your choice but you don t know that yet :). On first start of engine i fall in love. I get everything sport, luxury, comfort, safeness, efficiency. And i buy now already "old" 325D E90 2010, and BMW now create much much much more better car. How is that possible? :D I can now only dream that i will earn one day enough money to buy brand new BMW from factory. ‘Sheer Driving Pleasure’ :)

Not sure what you are doing anymore BMW but please come back to your roots. Until you do I am sticking with Porsche.

yea sure this model wasn't "necessary" because the gap it fills actually was too small to be filled. but damn - the 4 series gran coupe just looks stunning! imho this is the most beautiful sedan bmw produces. both aggressive and classy!

What the hell is the point of making a four-door 3 series, making a two-door spinoff called the 4-series, and then making a four-door version of the two-door spinoff??

I am just a little confused because BMW changed the name of their coupe to the 4 series, and kept the name of their 4 door vehicle as the 3 series. But now they are coming out with another 4 series but it also has 4 doors. Why couldn't you have just called the 4 door version the 4 series and kept the coupe as the classic 3 series?

I really don't think a BMW 4-series Gran Coupe is needed, we have 3-series Gran Coupe and I have never heard anyone said that they want something between a 5 GC and a 3 GC. Also 4 series is supposed to be a coupe version of 3 series, so what's the point of 4 GC when it's got 5 doors?

30 years ago you make the first m3 and it was only two doors. In 2013 you stopped the m3.You launched the 4 series coupe and now we have a gran coupe. I think that after 30 years you will stop the 4 series coupe :D

Ok, I really don't understand BMW's naming strategy now. Weren't the even numbers supposed to denote the Coupe variations of the Sedans that are 1 number less? So they made a Sedan(4 series Gran Coupe) that's based on a Coupe(4 series) that's based on a Sedan(3 series). What??

Okay BMW, I was absolutely cool with the 6 series gran coupe; but this is just insulting to the 3 series heritage. If you are going to kill off the 3 series coupe just to have the even numbers in your range represent the more sporty 2 doors, then don't go out and try to sell a 4 door 4 series as a sportier alternative to the 3 series!! So what? Does are you now implying that the 3 series is no longer the sporty alternative in the luxury market, but rather a pedestrian volume car?

I like it, i really do, but the question is - why? What will happen to brand new 3rd series? just when BMW separated coupe from a small sedan - here we come.

I'm sorry but if i saw this car on the street i would think it was a 3 series unless i saw the obvious rear end, this isnt the case with the a5 sportback which you can clearly tell is a different car from the a4

The car looks good, as I expected from BMW, but the rear boot design is bugging me. It's quite similar to the 3 series GT. It feels like as if it's a lowered down version of the 3 GT. My opinion is, with this car released, they will have to gamble on their own product; either the 3 sells well or the 4 GC.

Coupe really? Please don't call it Coupe because it's not. It's nothing but 5 dood liftback, calling it Coupe is an insult for real coupes or even such beautiful cars like 6 Gran Coupe. It's 4 Series GT, not GC.
