I just can’t believe a DISNEY movie said P in V… it’s just such a drastic jump from absolutely nothing being even slightly inappropriate to casually being like “kissing? No, i’m asking if you’ve had sex.” Like holy shit.
@@nightmeowonelmstreet215 but that show doesn't originally come from disney, while prom pact is described as a "disney original" :) there are many shows on disney+ that don't originally come from disney, so they are full of swearing/s3x stuff and "adult stuff" in general. and prom pact being a "disney original", it IS shocking to have them have this stuff in it when i remember those days couples weren't even allowed to kiss in disney stuff or they did so just once sldkfj
The chemistry was so natural between Mandy and Graham. The tropes of popular guy/studious girl, friends to lovers, and enemies to lovers were all included in the movie and done so well.
I love this movie because it’s a little mature but still age appropriate for tweens/teens. Not every media with high schoolers has to be overly sexual and full of drinking.
Yeah, it wasn’t like that. But I still don’t think Disney should be even referencing, drinking and having sex in a tween/teen movie. The character made it sound like you’re not “cool” if you haven’t done that. And yes, a lot of teenagers probably do that in real life, but I personally do not think they should. Disney used to be a channel where you didn’t really have to supervise what your kids were watching. Now, I wouldn’t want my children to watch Disney at all.
@@Mariesoul6 well yes but Disney channel should be fully censored and fine. I heard that the inappropriate parts were removed from the Disney channel premiere.
@@Mariesoul6 well like stated in the video, it’s not a disney channel original, it’s a disney plus original, big difference, i do see your point though
What I loved about this movie compared to other romcoms was how it handled Mandy and Ben's friendship. Like, obviously the fact that they didn't end up together is great, but also, I like how they didn't just make Ben put up with everything and be a total side character. Mandy had to show that she valued him too. They are adorable.
Yess I liked how her falling in love with Graham and seeing how he's not a jock, and also apologizing to Ben gave her character growth since she came up as kinda arrogant and ignorant of others in the beginning of the movie.
here's my dumb little idea for a sequel Sequel Idea: Okay so it's thanksgiving break or something, maybe summer break idk, but Mandy has an internship and doesn't think she can get away in time for some event Ben has planned. So, it's the week of flights are getting delayed and it starts snowing and Mandy realizes she can make it so she and Graham get a car and start the trek back to their hometown to surprise Ben. But there's a catch Mandy and Graham have broken up, taken a break, etc. but it was recent nobody back home knows and they don't want to make Ben's event awkward, so they make a plan to fake a relationship. Meanwhile, Ben can't imagine Mandy not being here for [insert event name] so he and letoya get a car to meet Graham and Mandy in Boston as a surprise in Ben's beat up car in the snow What could go wrong?
@@chloebrown9106and then graham and mandy’s car breaks down in the snow so they have literally no choice but to talk to eachother and then they make up
The older, older movies they would, but the recent "older" movies for sure were weird about it... like finally something that feels like it would happen in high school
Like many of you, I liked the fact that Ben and Mandy stayed best friends and it stayed platonic. I also liked the fact that Gap Years are being normalized! Also, when Graham asked for consent to touch Mandy’s arm!! Ben and LaToya are adorable. I love how excited he got and said her full name. We love a dedicated boy! 😂❤ As for your Q, I think Graham started during the summer and maybe Mandy didn’t notice him because she was too busy making friends, dorm life, classes, etc. I’m sure Harvard has more than one food cafe place. 😂😂 I’d love to see a sequel too!!
I think part of what made this movie SO good was the fact that it was self-aware. It knew Mandy was annoying. The characters in the backdrop had things happening to them all the time (literally if you rewatch the movie you see a bunch of proposals, you see characters having fights in their relationships, etc). It feels like a fully lived in world rather than simply a set for the main two characters to fall in love. Which is partly what makes Ben and Latoya so freaking satisfying. They're not just the goofy side couple there to make the main characters look good. They have an actual relationship outside of Mandy. If they did make a second movie, I really would hope that they'd have the maturity not to make it a "break up just to get back together again in the last 20 minutes I"m not sure we can survive college" thing.
I was so happy about his promposal tbh like don’t get me wrong I CRINGED but it was still so cute😭 like at one point Mandy said something about the guys not even paying attention and just doing a random promposal that would make them look cool or whatever but graham actually paid attention and did one that was actually special for her😭😭
I really need a second movie, but by focusing on LaToya and Ben, just like this one was more for Mandy and Grahams' developed personalities, life outside of school, and what they want to do with their lives, I NEED one for LaToya and Ben. Because even when they're the second main couple, we don't really know much about them as individuals. A road trip could be hilarious; like in the summer after the freshman year of college, the four of them go to the beach or go camping. I would die to see Ben trying to impress LaToya while he's the goofy cute boy that he is.
I think what a lot of people don’t realize is that Disney has been slowly getting more mature for a while. There were one or two sex jokes in girl meets world (that’s when I first noticed) and they’ve definitely gotten more bold with the Disney originals. Everybody swears in big shot and surprisingly HSMTMTS brings up sex and other things like that as well. It seems like they’re trying to keep their audience by growing up WITH them unlike before when people would grow out of it. Sorry for the long spiel lmao
@@imgonnaputsomedirtinureyedabsthe only sex reference ig that i remember is in s3 and the little side plot with carlos and the camp guy and in one scene they’re coming out of one of the cabins and i think the camp guy is buttoning up his shirt 😭
Bro I stopped watching after Descendants 3 in 2019 and it led to this? I'm so shocked. Usually Disney goes viral for pissing off the conservative parents lmao, so their progress is shocking.
So THIS was allowed to air on Disney+ even after that "P in a V" joke, yet they said "NO" to a more mature revival of Lizzie McGuire? 🤔Jokes aside, I really liked this movie, and I also really liked the main character. Unlike MOST main characters in a Netfix teen movie (I'm looking at you, Sierra Burgess) Mandy actually faces consequences when her actions have caught up with her, and rather than being magically excused by the universe or something, she owns up to her actions by actually trying to fix the mess she made (She gives Graham back the letter, takes Ben to the prom, and even gets him and Latoya back together)
Oh! I was actually very happy when she corrected her dad on the song's name because I would think they would go full on "no like other girls" with this one. It made me happy, such a small thing but still.
This movie had me in a chokehold as well as pausing it a thousand times to shake the cringe off my body😆 I could say that Disney+ ate with this movie, defintely fun and fresh. I hope there is a sequel but I see it coming in a way because of all of the positive reviews it has been receiving but at the same time I dont want to jinx it. The idea about Latoya and Ben going on a road trip to visit Graham and Mandy is so satisfying and could bring forth more screen time for Ben and Latoya. Pitch the idea babe.💞
The first act was rough but once the tutoring started, it got so much better and the chemistry for the two couples was 🔥 I actually really liked this. Peyton has so much potential as a lead actress and so is Milo who has a great comedic timing. The other two leads are pretty good too and Graham is a total babe lmao. The other two besties are irrelevant tho lol. Like you said, I love the final act where Graham cuts her off and I actually got scared that they won’t end up together lol.
Gotta say this was one of the best DCOMS I've seen. Top 5 in all honesty. The dialog wasn't very cringy. The way they wove the 80s themed prom into the narrative was nice and yea a platonic boy/girl friendship definitely won this movie over for me. I found their sing along in the car hilariously relatable 😂😂
No because ben really is the perfect mix of stiles and peter while letoya is the perfect mix of lydia and mj, might be why I almost like them more than the main pairing lol
The one direction promposal made me extremely happy because it reminded me of my promposal. My date asked my friends to ask me my fav flowers and song, which at the time was Night Changes by One Direction, and he made an a cappella version of it, because we were both in a cappella singers. And it was done on a school field trip where over 60 musicians from my school were at a beach. The over the top promposal reminded me of my own over the top promposal.
Why must all adults in teen shows or movies be laughably incompetent? If the guidance counsellor had offered Mandy actual advice, then the entire plot might not have even happened!
she literally did. she told mandy that she didnt need senator lansing’s letter, a letter from a teacher who knew her well would be enough. but mandy had her heart set on the flashier option and didn’t even consider the teacher recommendation, which ended up working anyway
Are you really trying to blame this 18 year olds decisions on the counselor?😭she is a senior, young adult, etc. She’s not stupid. The guidance counselor gave her good advice. She shouldn’t have to say “Mandy, don’t manipulate Graham so you can get his father’s letter.”
in the movie, the counselor actually recommends she do backups outside harvard and that the letter is not necessarily what she needs. she tried to get through to mandy, so what happened more likely was that she tried speaking to mandy about her unrealistic expectations and stopped when she realized mandy wasn’t budging.
As an actual school counselor myself, I think this school counselor was pretty good compared to other school counselors in media. Like someone said earlier, the counselor offered school backups and encouraged Mandy to think about alternative plans. Also school counselors are trained to not take sides or offer the “right” thing to do. It’s up to the student to decide what they want to do.
mandy was my least favorite character but it was still funny when graham knew she was vegetarian "how did you know i was a vegetarian?" "...just an assumption" 😂 i also felt like graham's prom-proposal would have been cuter if they literally weren't fighting or not talking the day before. i loved ben by himself and his crush on latoya, they made the movie for me. finally one good thing disney releases in how many years?
This and the timing plot hole bothered me with the promposal- like hold up how were you practicing with the girl before the Senator event when you LEARNED about 1D/Risky Business that day
This movie was so much more fun than I thought it was gonna be, what a pleasant surprise. Ben was literally adorable and ngl the movie made me laugh a lot. The scene where they're singing to imagine dragons was more funny than annoying to me because I have a guy friend who is still obsessed with imagine dragons and I sent that clip to him and he was like "I love imagine dragons" 💀
At first I liked the movie but thought it was mediocre, but now it's growing on me a lot more. The conflict of the movie was well done and had me feeling for everyone. I was kicking my feet and squealing at my tv every time anything happened in the movie man all the characters were super cute
yesss, I was so surprised by how much I loved this movie. I had assumed Ben and Mandy were gonna end up together but was super happy with the way it turned out.
my personal headcanon is that graham actually sent the letter after she gave it back to him. just narratively I feel like that’s a much better resolution to that whole storyline than to say “oh turns out she didn’t need it after all and got into harvard anyway”. it’d also be a cool move on his part, to realize that she chose him over harvard knowing what that meant for her, and by giving him the letter she was putting her fate in his hands
I kind of expected after the teacher reveal that he ALSO sent the other letter of rec - I liked the message that she didnt need it the whole time but also kind of unrealistic imo
I loved Ben and Latoya i really liked them more than the main couple, so cute. Tbh i dont think mandy and graham will stay together in uni HAHAHAHHA but lets go ;D a sequel with ben and latoya yes PLEASE
I think a good sequel idea would be either Mandy and Graham visiting home during the summer and hang out with Ben and Latoya. But because the last time Mandy saw Ben was graduation they “hang out too much” so both SOs are jealous and affects their relationship with one another. Or Ben and Latoya visit Mandy and Graham in Boston and are annoying them during their own couple’s time. These are very basic and predictable ideas, so I need the writers do a big plot twist or a bigger situation in general. Also Ben reminded me of Ross from Friends at times too. Like Milo could play Ross’ son if they do a reboot or smth
i want to appreciate how cool it is that the best friends were actually just friends in the end, but i had such a hard time overlooking the fact that they had so much more chemistry with each other than with the love interests (i later found out they played love interests in a show and it made so much more sense). plus i just did not vibe with the jock love interest but that's just a me thing
I want to see a prequel of the like camp thing where no nuts Plunkett started, it would be cool to see how everyone used to act and ben fawning over latoya haha
Tbh I was interested in this movie Cause of Milo and Peyton. When I watched the movie the first half was kinda mixed for me but the more I got into it I was absolutely loving it. I loved that it a was a clicks while also not being cliche and Ben and Laytoa are Superior 😤🤧
The only reason I watched the movie in the movie in the first place was for well, MILO. But i actually ended up liking it a lot. At first, Graham looks like a total poser and typical jock, but he turns out to be such a gentleman. I think I loved this movie.
i was at a loss for words when i heard explicit language like i was completely off guard ,but i was surprised how well made this movie was. throughout the years, dcoms have been going downhill, so im hoping disney channel keeps up with coming of age movies 😩
i knew it was a cringe movie and still watched it for the cute basketball guy whose name i forgot. didn’t finish it cuz i hated the main female character but i loved latoya and the other guy i forgot his name. other than that the script was very much giving second hand embarrassment specially with the nsfw comments
i actually loved this movie, milo also being one of my fav actors really made this movie conforting. im so glad i got to see peyton on screen again, i missed her.
This is also not technically a dcom in the traditional sense, it premiered on the channel but it is technically a Disney plus original. This is why it had so much promotion. A regular dcom just gets a few commercials on the channel to play regularly ahead of the premiere. Lots of Disney movies have premiered on the channel that are not dcoms. Ratings are also kinda meaningless when it’s on streaming and there’s other things with the same rating but very different themes. But it’s certainly refreshing! Was looking after a few pre teens and they seemed to enjoy the movie!
i watched this because i read the title and i trust your judgements completely and as i should because i loved this movie! Peyton Elizabeth Lee deserves all the spotlight she’s getting and so much more she is that girlie! Graham fully grew on me and i can honestly say i’ve not cared about most male lead love interests in these movies anymore but he made an impression! the only way i can describe it is it gives me feels? i felt like i was in middle school again and loved it!
my head canon is that Graham was in boston a while and sort of sudo stocked mandy while she was out touring the campus maybe for early admitttence and when she was there permanently he approached her... reason for this head cannon is because when we see mandy at college she s hanging out with a new group of friends and they look like they hang out at this particular coffee shop a loooooottt so when Graham runs into Mandy, it could possibly be mid first semester freshman year.... or Graham could have just been walking by and saw mandy in the shop and stopped in... Overall I decently liked this movie... the main reason I watched it was because of Ben's actor who i know from other disney movies and enjoy his acting/characters there I wanted to see how different it would be to see him in something else...
When I saw the movie I was interested in it because of milo, but after watching it, I really enjoyed it!! Mandy started to become a little frustrating to me as a viewer with her hatred towards anything that wasn't aligned with her beliefs/interests, like queen love you but it's just a promposal 💗I liked her storyline tho! I would def recommend it, a fun watch! And Graham and Mandy & Ben and Latoya's storylines were interesting and fun!
I thought graham had a gf . That’s why his friends were talking about liv with graham but Mandy said she was just helping graham out for the promposal but is it true or just a lie ? I would not want for graham to have a secret gf
It didn’t do what I expected, that’s for sure. I thought once she defended Graham to his dad instead of asking for the letter of recommendation, maybe he would’ve sent it in anyway like he respected her staunch defense of his son? Or maybe Graham or one of his brothers overheard her and did something? Anything but what we actually got. Because it means the entire plot was moot! She should’ve just asked her guidance counselor to write it in the first place! 🙄🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ Maybe I’m reading too much into it, though. I also think they could’ve made up better at graduation to make the scene of them meeting up in Boston better. It wasn’t a bad movie, though! ☺️
I think that Graham wanted to set up and acomplish things for himself in Boston before reaching out, instead of seeming like he was just chasing mandy.
the only loose end that they didn't tie up was addressing whether graham was using mandy to look smart (like the dude had another girl over near the gala dinner...)
Let us remember that Disney said “the P in the V” on Disney+ but still cancelled the Lizzie McGuire reboot for being too inappropriate and adult 😤😤😤 That said Prom Pact was incredible and I loved it.
I spent almost an hour trying to find this movie lmaooo, I thought at first it was on netflix but it wasn't there, so I thought maybe it's an upcoming new series or movie but there was none when I searched it up, then I tried on hulu, prime, then back to netflix...I never guessed it was on Disney+, that was stupid of me hahahaha I just knew that the actress was familiar and her best friend so I searched her up, and I saw that Ben was Zed in Zombies and Peyton was in Andi Mack and Secret Society of Second Born Royals. Long story short, watched the movie and enjoyed it sksks, I wish they would make more movies like this.
i literally love this movie so much not just by disney standards but general teen standards. i love milo manheim and the actors who play mandy and graham were amazing too anyway the movies a 7/10 from me
I wish there was a film about getting into an Ivy League when you never planned to & then almost jumping off a building from the stress (several times) & yet graduating & then returning the the same Ivy League for graduate school with a 4.0 & STILL almost jumping off a bridge now or in front of a train but loving it still. Sounds sorta specific I guess. Maybe I can relate.
