Ice Princess wasn't a DCOM bestie but it was just as ICONIC. I saw this in theaters and it was big deal because Kim Katrall did this movie instead of the Sex and the City movie (made them delay the whole thing) ☕

One thing I loved most though, was how Haydens character wasn't just "pretty blonde mean girl" cliche. She had a character, and I wish Disney did more of this. Yes, she's not that "nice" as the "not like other girls brunette" but she wasn't comically malicious as any other disney mean girl. And her monologue, it's so realistic and that's one of the best parts of the movie, is that it is realistic.

I also agree that Casey's reaction to Gen walking towards her was totally her having gay panic. Casey and Gen are girlfriends, and no one can convince me otherwise. 😂

Apparently most of the skating was actually done by them, Michelle tratchenburg did ballet and took skating lessons for 10 months for the movie. Stunt doubles were only used mainly for the more difficult tricks that you can’t learn in a short period of time

GEN SUPREMECY!!!!! Genuinely love how she could so easily have been a stereotypical mean girl villain but instead they gave her depth and made her a super loyal and supportive friend!!

I hate when parents ask for/make their kids feel like they should give back to them just for being their parents/doing the bare minimum. Like THEY chose fo have US not the other way around. They made the decision to have a child (meaning they have to provide for them etc) and then act like we owe them something?? It literally does not make sense because we had zero say in being born/their child

the physics she explains are just logic. a third grader could do that. she just uses "complicated" words to explain simple things

it’s weird seeing this movie knowing the figure skating now is so much more advanced. there are kids the same age as those kids in the performances doing triples and quads

this type of "mean girl trope" needs to be used more. Like everyone who grew up watching movies like this were able to relate to multiple characters not just the quirky im not like other girls main character thats created so many negative stereotypes towards the way we view other woman. Theres not just the mean bitchy girl and the smart, I dont wear makeup type of girls

i watched this movie once when at was about 3 years old at my babysitters house while she was braiding my hair and the only thing I remember about the movie is the scene where she wore the new skates for a competition and they like messed up her feet and I think her feet were bleeding or something. all this to say I was traumatized and had a fear of ice skating for a while and I still think of that scene to this day

Michelle actually did the majority of the skating jumps and tricks, minus the triple and double axels and sowl cows.

I'm halfway through a physics degree and I've never thought about physics outside of studying. Watching this movie again made me realise she really do be thinking of physics way too often for her to not choose that.

Figure skater/coach here- I’ve skated all my life and I’ve always loved this movie. It’s not the most realistic in portraying the actual skating world (that testing scene and that beginner LTS class are both complete garbage lol), but I love the characters so much. The variety between Gen and Nikki and Casey, and even Zoe is fantastic. I love that they mostly casted actual skaters. Zoe, Nikki, and Tiffany are all played by skaters, and Hayden and Michelle both took months worth of lessons before shooting. Realistically does ten months get you to the level their characters are? Nope. But it does get you the ease needed to move through basic scenes as if you are. I haven’t seen that level of commitment to the skating side of stuff in a mainstream movie since, including I Tonya (which made no attempt to hide the stunt skater’s different brand of skates lol)

I feel like a lot of skating movies have the coach who’s also the mom of the mean girl and then their relationship struggles or the daughter doesn’t want to skate or the main character is a better skater/close competitor and then the mom basically adopts the new girl and replaces her daughter
