This video has cleared up and filled in many missing details -- most especially (!) in explaining why, in QCD, positively charged protons are able to remain in close proximity despite their like charge. I've never before heard that it is because the like and opposite color charges of the quarks mostly cancel each other out, such that the "mere" residual force is enough to hold the protons and neutrons together. Another mind blower was to hear that quarks exert 10 tons of force on one another! Whenever this subject was addressed in other physics podcasts, the amount of force exerted was said to be 20 kg. I thought THAT was unimaginable...but--10 tons! Thank you for including so much precision in this recording. You managed to make the information accessible, without oversimplification. Additional comment: I'm re-reading the transcript, another thing you've cleared up is how the ratio of matter to anti-matter was calculated. The ratio is constantly referred to, but never explained. It's not a difficult concept, and I'm overjoyed to understand it.

I just want to remind everyone that for any of this to be accurate, you need to believe in something that is both infinitely small and infinitely dense and use dark magic to balance the equations. In other words, there’s still much to learn.

People generally have a very poor understanding of what the word 'infinite' actually means.. This is not any kind of 'fault', but just that we have evolved within the confines of what appears to be a finite environment, and we thus try to look at things in finite ways, also justifying those 'finite' thoughts. When I first approached the 'problem' I had the same difficulties, so it takes our minds a lot of effort to reach another perspective of understanding, but it IS achievable.. Firstly, there cannot be more than one 'instance' of infinitude, otherwise a secondary 'thing' would render them both 'finite'. So we are describing a 'oneness'.. Also, it can have no 'beginning' nor 'ending' as these would also necessitate a secondary 'thing' (or the utter nonsense of a 'nothing'!), so we are describing 'eternity' when we apply 'time' concepts. Then, we have to admit that it can only be the one thing that interconnects all other 'things', and we deduce this to be 'Space', necessarily.. All references to 'size' or 'direction' do not apply to the nature of infinitude, and thus have no relevance to our understanding of the true nature of existence. 'Measurement' has limitations.. When we point to any position in Space, we effectively create a 'beginning' to any subsequent forms of measurement, which only has relevance to the entity desiring to understand said 'measurement'. Measuring things does not make them a feature of the nature of reality, only a desire of 'measurement' from a Human perspective. Within infinitude everything appears to be at the 'centre' of that which it finds detectable ('observable').. So, the moment you create the perspective of a 'centre', you become that centre..Here we can find the real problem with using 'mathematics' as a tool for understanding infinite nature. We have to firstly posit the 'points' to be 'measured' in order for the measurement to take place.. And this is why we end up inventing 'things' that do not exist in reality from mathematical constructs that do not describe the truth about nature.. spaceandmotion

It's really mind blowing... I was wondering... Where did all the information come from... I mean, was the information present before the big bang and so permitted all the steps for the creation of all the particles, or did the information just arise little by little as time passed... And if so, how can that be possible???

However the universe started, it’s amazing to say the least. Few thoughts: 1) before the universe started, matter and antimatter balanced. So, there was nothing, not even energy. So, no temperature? 2) at the start of the universe, can’t imaging what caused the imbalance of anti/matter. Such imbalance created energy, which fueled the “high temperature” of the imbalanced anti/matter. 3) can’t imagine at such very beginning, what it’s like to have all the matter/weight of the universe today confined in a point with such “high temperature”. Could that the the needed condition for the “expansion”? Truly it only happens once in an universe. The rest is history; theories and laws defined by human of the Universe as we know it today.

Don't get me wrong , but " before the universe started" make no sense because it was not before, because there were no time. That is a fact.Also Space was created before the first beat of time. So before t = 0. We use "before" again, although existence, in the ontological sense would probably be more appropriate. What amazes me in all this; is the very beginning of the Book of Genesis: " In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. "So, The Space gained meaning in the separation of darkness and light, that is, the beginning of the flow of time. Physicists call this the space-time continuum. Before the fact of The Bang, everything was in the Singularity, infinite and incomprehensible, because there was no time. Absolute zero, like a billion degrees Kelvin, has the same meaning, probability, or whatever. The real question is, if the Universe originated from an infinitesimally small point, how did it change its enormous heat and begin to cool rapidly? If it has started to spread in nothing, it makes sense, but only if it is nothing infinite. On the other hand, that nothing was supposed to have an enormous heat capacity to absorb all the heat, right? Dead end whichever way you turn. It seems that the laws of physics themselves were created somewhat when darkness and light separated.

People are led to believe all sorts of nonsense, like we can imagine anything 'fantastical' and untrue, but cannot understand what IS real? Doesn't that seem a little suspect to you? People are taken advantage of because of their blind belief in things that are untrue.. And 'social media' is an ideal platform to promote as many false ideas and confuse people as much as possible. It would be very naive to expect that people with the most to lose would not be those who publish the most falsity all over 'social media' to maintain dominant positions in other areas of the 'community'..

good speech, now he needs to make a video about the universe one second before the big bang, and answer questions for example what started the big bang, why did all the matter in the universe decide to get together and bang, in a infinite space universe
@ozymandiasnullifidian5590
@ozymandiasnullifidian5590 2 года назад
Who said anything about an infinite space universe? Space was created at that moment and it expanded in incredible fashion in one small fragment of that first second, space and time are qualities of the universe, there was no space, and with that, no time before, if one can even say "before". Big Band was extremely fast spreading of space, and the beginning of time. And if the first moment you can't speak of the matter in a classical sense.

Eric Lerner can point as to why it is now a political 'problem' rather than one of true understanding (which we do in fact now have, albeit ostracised from media outlets) "History abundantly shows that people's views of the universe are bound up with their views of themselves and of their society. The debate in cosmology has implications far beyond the realm of science, for it is a question of how truth is known. How these questions are answered will shape not only the history of science, but the history of humanity." (Eric Lerner, 1992) spaceandmotion

I do not get it. Everyone says as the universe expands in the first few minutes the temperature drops. I totally disagree with this view. In the beginning everything was so packed, there was not enough energy level available for the universe to have too many forms. Everything is in an orderly fashion. As the universe expands more space is available for variations of energy levels, thus the universe becomes more chaotic. When the universe moves from orderly to chaotic, the temperature rises by definition.

I, an arm-chair physicist not particularly interested in *current* physics, remember it was talked about quarks having fractional electric charge like 1/3, 2/3 (and zero?) Is it still believed to be true? Or, is there any new theory of quark charges? Any answer to why all electrons are same? Wheeler once explained why but it doesn't sound right.
@RuthBingham

"Any answer to why all electrons are same?" "Commendation from NASA for research work at Massachusetts Institute of Technology on the Earth's atmosphere and the Moon's surface for navigation of the Apollo spacecraft to the Moon.. Dr. Milo Wolff has found the structure of the electron consisting of two spherical quantum waves, one moving radially outward and another moving radially inward. The center of the waves is the nominal location of the electron 'particle'. These waves extend infinitely, like charge force. All 'particle' waves mix and contribute to each other, thus all matter of the universe is interrelated by this intimate connection between the fundamental 'particles' and the universe. The natural laws are a direct consequence of this Wave Structure of Matter (WSM), thus WSM underlies all of science." spaceandmotion

@@fluentpiffle I suppose one could argue that all electrons are the same due to the total simplicity of their constitution, as described by Dr. Milo Wolff, i.e. two spherical standing waves. But does this really explain why all electrons are identical in construction? What is it, specifically, about these waves that defines the phenomenon as an electron rather than, say, a neutrino? Is it a very specific wavelength, for example? Where does the the electric charge come from?

@fluentpiffle
@fluentpiffle 2 года назад
@@RuthBingham Vibrational frequency, but it is because of the underlying nature of reality being one infinite thing (basically 'energy' we currently call 'space'). The spherical standing wave-motions of space (energy) are vibrations that accumulate and form into a temporary 'particle' structure, and 'particles' vibrating at the same frequencies will also accumulate together, forming 'mass'. So it is the motions of 'space' (which we measure as 'time') that also create the 'particle' effect.. When we realise that there are not 'two' separate standing waves, but just one universal 'action' taking place, where the in-wave is in fact the out-wave of other universal motions, we can make greater sense of it.. This is why we separate events into 'creation' and 'destruction' in our minds ('duality'), when they are essentially the same universal event taking place.. We have invested a lot of evolutionary energy in thinking dualistically, when the reality is not dual, and this means we have to take a great deal more energy to correct what is, in essence, a misalignment with our own true nature..

One other thought: 4) why when the universe expanded and cooled, it had to form all the matters (quarks, atoms, electrons, etc) as we’ve defined them? Why not the opposite of the theories, terms, and laws as we’ve defined them? I suppose if it (the universe) was just a total chaos, then we as human or any being wouldn’t becoming to existence to define them…

The debate in cosmology has implications far beyond the realm of science, for it is a question of how truth is known. How these questions are answered will shape not only the history of science, but the history of humanity." (Eric Lerner, 1992) One of the main reasons 'big bang' is pushed so ferociously is that it has been endorsed by the vatican.. "In fact, it seems that present-day science, with one sweeping step back across millions of centuries, has succeeded in bearing witness to that primordial 'Fiat lux' (Let there be light) uttered at the moment when, along with matter, there burst forth from nothing a sea of light and radiation, while the particles of the chemical elements split and formed into millions of galaxies ... Hence, creation took place in time, therefore, there is a Creator, God exists!" (Pope Pius XII, 1951) 300 years before this, 'the church' had Giordano Bruno publicly murdered for saying that space is infinite.. You 'do the math'.. NO! Please don't! This is why the erroneous ideas of 'infinity' are used in mathematics, specifically to confuse people into a misunderstanding of what infinitude actually means.. If space is infinite, 'god' cannot be.. People are led to believe all sorts of nonsense, like we can imagine anything 'fantastical' and untrue, but cannot understand what IS real? The theory of cosmic inflation is a wrong theory. The previous univese could have ended with a rain of high energy plasma of elementary particles that filled the universe after the contraction (Sanvattai). And then the universe could start to expand (Vivatta) during the time called Cosmic Inflation. And the duration of the further expansion (Vivattai) is similar to the duration of Cosmic Inflation. Again it can contract (Sanvatta) within a similar duration. The General Relativity doesn't allow faster than light expansion. Someone with a good brain should be able understand that the universe didn't have a good reason to be very small like an atom or elementary particle. Space doesn't have a process that can expand matter quickly making the cosmic inflation. Space is still increasing. So the Big Bang didn't create space to expand matter. A flat universe doesn't support the concept of Cosmic Inflation from a curved singularity. CMB Radiation showed that the universe was not a curved universe. So the Big Bang was not like a breaking of a curved geometry of spacetime. Therefore, the CMB radiation doesn't show that the Big Bang created matter and space breaking the curvature of so-called singularity. Seemingly, matter came closer to each other on gravitational forces that acted in the flat universe that already existed. So the Big Bang was likely a Big Exchange of matter from one side to another. And there was no need for a Cosmic Inflation to expand matter and energy faster than light. Scientists can't detect the duration of existence of accelerated particles to decide the time of the Big Bang.

@@ozymandiasnullifidian5590, Likely, matter uniformly expands into space that already existed beyond matter areas before the Big Bang. Seemingly, gravitational forces had changed the distribution of density before the Big Bang. Therefore, the pressure between densities could cause the expansion of matter. The speed of light depends on the density of the medium it travels. The speed of light in water is slower than the speed of light in space. Quantum entanglement and quantum tunneling don't support proving cosmic inflation.

I couldn’t watch this past 3 min. I was in discussions about 30 years ago in forums in black holes and elementary particles and without having a real background in physics the discussions were clear back then and slowly as more gets added it evolves into a complex formula with more questions than answers. But here’s what our take was for about a decade after we began. Black holes weren’t known to be in every universe in general but we knew they were. Same as for every matter that comes to existence so does an equivalent of antimatter , bare with me , this is a cliff notes version but still a bit long. Anti matter is specific to the matter it came to existence. That’s to say a hydrogen antimatter will likely not annihilate nitrogen. And when the hydrogen matter and antimatter to collide one of them may be 600billion years old or even appearing yesterday. Remember these are just notes not a full explanation. When you go to a subatomic scale the origins are a mystery to most unless you consider what exactly is a blackhole and if you go too far you get lost in trying to figure out where did it come from. Fact is they been around always. Forget about it in the present universe because what they do now is a sort of attempt to return things to the way they were before even the first subatomic particles arrived. I’ll explain that after. It is without anyones doubt that everything came from nothing but still the question is how. When nothing but black holes existed it was a nothingness unlike may be again since now there is an added equation to the formula called time. I’ll also do a cliff note quickly on how and what. As these black holes flung one another beyond the speed of light and collided in the great nothings tearing and plucking from one another mingling in what was supposedly endless realm the forces ripping plank sized holes in the fabric is what led to the first appearances of elemental particles into this and potentially other dimension at the start. All it took was the right position the right angle of approach the right amount of stretching to open enough of the spance of nothingness to generate 2 things. A flood through a wide mesh which contained all like a screen on a window but whose mesh was pulled open wide enough and long enough for those elements to seep through. That is 1 and the other is for a fraction of a microsecond time skipped forward. And had that not been part of the beginning then all things that have happened are happening and will happen later would have occurred at that moment in time. There are many connections forever between there behind the fabric with plank sized holes and this , where we now exist. But the connection between it and black holes is obvious. When the fundamental matter that made all that is in our space in all directions came to be there remained a void as the plank holes subsided back into its original state. Black holes are the great recycler. It’s function is to place back what was removed from the other side of reality by the means we are incapable of viewing from this side . A job it may or may not manage to accomplish. I could go on but it’s evident man has a desire to figure things out and do a good job at it so I’ll leave the rest to you. It’s not difficult, it’s in our DNA.

My new understandings of what many call 'God -The Holy Spirit' - resulting from some of the extraordinary ongoing after-effects relating to my NDE... Myoho-Renge-Kyo represents the identity of what some scientists are now referring to as the unified field of consciousnesses. In other words, it’s the essence of all existence and non-existence - the ultimate creative force behind planets, stars, nebulae, people, animals, trees, fish, birds, and all phenomena, manifest or latent. All matter and intelligence are simply waves or ripples manifesting to and from this core source. Consciousness (enlightenment) is itself the actual creator of everything that exists now, ever existed in the past, or will exist in the future - right down to the minutest particles of dust - each being an individual ripple or wave. The big difference between chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo and most other conventional prayers is that instead of depending on a ‘middleman’ to connect us to our state of inner enlightenment, we’re able to do it ourselves. That’s because chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo allows us to tap directly into our enlightened state by way of this self-produced sound vibration. ‘Who or What Is God?’ If we compare the concept of God being a separate entity that is forever watching down on us, to the teachings of Nichiren, it makes more sense to me that the true omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence of what most people perceive to be God, is the fantastic state of enlightenment that exists within each of us. Some say that God is an entity that’s beyond physical matter - I think that the vast amount of information continuously being conveyed via electromagnetic waves in today’s world gives us proof of how an invisible state of God could indeed exist. For example, it’s now widely known that specific data relayed by way of electromagnetic waves has the potential to help bring about extraordinary and powerful effects - including an instant global awareness of something or a mass emotional reaction. It’s also common knowledge that these invisible waves can easily be used to detonate a bomb or to enable NASA to control the movements of a robot as far away as the Moon or Mars - none of which is possible without a receiver to decode the information that’s being transmitted. Without the receiver, the data would remain impotent. In a very similar way, we need to have our own ‘receiver’ switched on so that we can activate a clear and precise understanding of our own life, all other life and what everything else in existence is. Chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo each day helps us to achieve this because it allows us to reach the core of our enlightenment and keep it switched on. That’s because Myoho-Renge-Kyo represents the identity of what scientists now refer to as the unified field of consciousnesses. To break it down - Myoho represents the Law of manifestation and latency (Nature) and consists of two alternating states. For example, the state of Myo is where everything in life that’s not obvious to us exists - including our stored memories when we’re not thinking about them - our hidden potential and inner emotions whenever they’re dormant - our desires, our fears, our wisdom, happiness, karma - and more importantly, our enlightenment. The other state, ho, is where everything in Life exists whenever it becomes evident to us, such as when a thought pops up from within our memory - whenever we experience or express our emotions - or whenever a good or bad cause manifests as an effect from our karma. When anything becomes apparent, it merely means that it’s come out of the state of Myo (dormancy/latency) and into a state of ho (manifestation). It’s the difference between consciousness and unconsciousness, being awake or asleep, or knowing and not knowing. The second law - Renge - Ren meaning cause and ge meaning effect, governs and controls the functions of Myoho - these two laws of Myoho and Renge, not only function together simultaneously but also underlies all spiritual and physical existence. The final and third part of the tri-combination - Kyo, is the Law that allows Myoho to integrate with Renge - or vice versa. It’s the great, invisible thread of energy that fuses and connects all Life and matter - as well as the past, present and future. It’s also sometimes termed the Universal Law of Communication - perhaps it could even be compared with the string theory that many scientists now suspect exists. Just as the cells in our body, our thoughts, feelings and everything else is continually fluctuating within us - all that exists in the world around us and beyond is also in a constant state of flux - constantly controlled by these three fundamental laws. In fact, more things are going back and forth between the two states of Myo and ho in a single moment than it would ever be possible to calculate or describe. And it doesn’t matter how big or small, famous or trivial anything or anyone may appear to be, everything that’s ever existed in the past, exists now or will exist in the future, exists only because of the workings of the Laws ‘Myoho-Renge-Kyo’ - the basis of the four fundamental forces, and if they didn’t function, neither we nor anything else could go on existing. That’s because all forms of existence, including the seasons, day, night, birth, death and so on, are moving forward in an ongoing flow of continuation - rhythmically reverting back and forth between the two fundamental states of Myo and ho in absolute accordance with Renge - and by way of Kyo. Even stars are dying and being reborn under the workings of what the combination ‘Myoho-Renge-Kyo’ represents. Nam, or Namu - which mean the same thing, are vibrational passwords or keys that allow us to reach deep into our life and fuse with or become one with ‘Myoho-Renge-Kyo’. On a more personal level, nothing ever happens by chance or coincidence, it’s the causes that we’ve made in our past, or are presently making, that determine how these laws function uniquely in each of our lives - as well as the environment from moment to moment. By facing east, in harmony with the direction that the Earth is spinning, and chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo for a minimum of, let’s say, ten minutes daily to start with, any of us can experience actual proof of its positive effects in our lives - even if it only makes us feel good on the inside, there will be a definite positive effect. That’s because we’re able to pierce through the thickest layers of our karma and activate our inherent Buddha Nature (our enlightened state). By so doing, we’re then able to bring forth the wisdom and good fortune that we need to challenge, overcome and change our adverse circumstances - turn them into positive ones - or manifest and gain even greater fulfilment in our daily lives from our accumulated good karma. This also allows us to bring forth the wisdom that can free us from the ignorance and stupidity that’s preventing us from accepting and being proud of the person that we indeed are - regardless of our race, colour, gender or sexuality. We’re also able to see and understand our circumstances and the environment far more clearly, as well as attract and connect with any needed external beneficial forces and situations. As I’ve already mentioned, everything is subject to the law of Cause and Effect - the ‘actual-proof-strength’ resulting from chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo always depends on our determination, sincerity and dedication. For example, the levels of difference could be compared to making a sound on a piano, creating a melody, producing a great song, and so on. Something else that’s very important to always respect and acknowledge is that the Law (or if you prefer God) is in everyone and everything. NB: There are frightening and disturbing sounds, and there are tranquil and relaxing sounds. It’s the emotional result of any noise or sound that can trigger off a mood or even instantly change one. When chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo each day, we are producing a sound vibration that’s the password to our true inner-self - this soon becomes apparent when you start reassessing your views on various things - such as your fears and desires etc. The best way to get the desired result when chanting is not to view things conventionally - rather than reaching out to an external source, we need to reach into our own lives and bring our needs and desires to fruition from within - including the good fortune and strength to achieve any help that we may need. Chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo also reaches out externally and draws us towards, or draws towards us, what we need to make us happy from our environment. For example, it helps us to be in the right place at the right time - to make better choices and decisions and so forth. We need to think of it as a seed within us that we’re watering and bringing sunshine to for it to grow, blossom and bring forth fruit or flowers. It’s also important to understand that everything we need in life, including the answer to every question and the potential to achieve every dream, already exists within us. My autobiography explaining how I, and others I've told, have used this chant to successfully change our poisons into medicine titled: 'Saved by the Light of the Buddha Within', is now available at Amazon Books for 99 cents (the lowest Amazon allowed me to price it) You can also read more about Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo in Tina Turner's new book: Happiness Becomes You -- or you can Google 'Let go and let God' by Olivia Newton-John.

(If the redshifts are a Doppler shift) "... the observations as they stand lead to the anomaly of a closed universe, curiously small and dense, and, it may be added, suspiciously young. On the other hand, if redshifts are not Doppler effects, these anomalies disappear and the region observed appears as a small, homogeneous, but insignificant portion of a universe extended indefinitely both in space and time." (E. Hubble, Roy. Astron. Soc. M. N., 17, 506, 1937) "It should be pointed out that Hubble himself was not convinced that red shift was exclusively due to Doppler effect. Up to the time of his death he maintained that velocities inferred from red shift measurements should be referred to as apparent velocities." (Mitchell, 1997) Another problem with the expanding universe concept is that the redshift with distance is quantized, as Arp clearly explains; "The fact that measured values of redshift do not vary continuously but come in steps - certain preferred values - is so unexpected that conventional astronomy has never been able to accept it, in spite of the overwhelming observational evidence." (Halton Arp, 1998) Arp is also very close to the truth when he writes; "In addition it appears increasingly useful to view particle masses to be communicated by wave like carriers in a Machian universe. Therefore the possibility of beat frequencies, harmonics, interference and evolution through resonant states is opened up." (Arp, 1998) The Spherical Standing Wave Structure of Matter sensibly explains these 'quantum' or discrete standing wave interactions. "Modern Cosmology is founded on the belief that the Hubble Redshift with distance is caused by a Doppler Shift due to receding Motion of the stars / galaxies within the universe, thus leading to the conclusion of an expanding Universe from some primal 'Big Bang'. The Wave Structure of Matter solves the many problems and contradictions of this Big Bang theory by deducing that the Hubble Redshift is actually caused by decreasing Wave interactions with distance. This also solves the problem of uniting the finite and the infinite, i.e. how our matter can be finite yet exist within infinite Space. The solution is simple - but because it requires a new way of thinking about matter as a wave structure of space (rather than a discrete 'particle') it takes the mind a little while to adjust."
