Nah, A lot of my friends including me are doing well in life despite not getting into IIT. Hell, I didn't even get into NIT, did my masters fron US, from an OK-ish Uni (not very highly ranked), now I work at FAANG and earn 4-5 times more than my cousin who went to IIT got into FAANG but in India. All I sacrificed was 2 more years I had to spend for my masters, which is not that big of a deal, plus I got a better paycheck in the end. So, don't get depressed, there are a lot of avenues in life which can lead you to a comfortable life if that's what you dream of.

Its like how people think once they get to hollywood they are gonna be a superstar/actor and be rich, but reality hits them and they realise they have little talent because of lack of knowledge or they are just not as good as they thought so they get put in films no one watches.
