Last week we witnessed a piece of Lappa history, as the first ever locomotive-hauled train ran along a newly-laid section of 10.25″ gauge track, linking the Newlyn Downs Branchline to our new station.
Known to many as the "Eric" line, the original track has followed the same route since it was built nearly 30 years ago. This new section, along with the station and a crossover will allow us to run more frequent trains - plus, make it easier for people to get on and off.
We're very proud of our gang, who worked extremely hard in challenging conditions (including snow!) to lay the new section of track, which will now undergo more testing before welcoming passengers from Easter onwards.
