Long before the first American pioneers established homesteads on the Miami River, its banks were occupied by the Tequesta indians. Today, archeologists have discovered the remnants of a Tequesta fishing village on a development site in downtown Miami, and what they are finding is completing a vivid picture of what life was like for this prehistoric community of first Miamians.

Archaeologist here. There is a site nearby known as Miami circle that was excavated in the late 90s. That site had some condos from the '50s built on top of it, and the circle was nearly mistaken for seepage from a septic tank. If this video interested you, there is a wonderful BBC documentary on Miami circle also on RU-vid.

What soulless developers are okay in destroying a historic site like this, which itself stands as a symbol of the history of Miami itself, yet are perfectly fine with building over it like it was nothing. Same problem happened with the discovery at Surfside after that building collapsed. Miami politicians let this happen for greed of waterfront property, the money is just too good of a take for soulless people like that.
