I saw this when I was very young with my father but I didn't understand it. It aired late and I fell asleep on the floor of the den with my blankets. I've been looking around for this off and on for years and years. Thanks for posting this.
Thank! I watched it in 1984, when I was 8 years old and I never forgot several scenes. I believe the series was produced in the context of promoting the Los Angeles Olympics that year. I stayed up late with my dad and my older sister, as the time that was shown in Brazil was very late at night.
I watched it back then in the early 80s as an elementary school kid and from then onwards I was searching to rewatch it for decades. Thanks for sharing, it brought back so many memories. In Greece this is a big deal. The Greek actors shown here are all well known actors of their time and the social - economic situation in Greece in that times was exactly as depicted. A shepherd boy entering the army was a big loss for a family's everyday life survival effort and these were the Greek problems in contrast with the "games dead end ones" that rich western societies faced.
i seen this years ago i just found it is a great movie note i started seeing the games since i was 14 an 66 years old never miss the games sorry for the late games waiting for it 2021
Lo vi en la televisión peruana el mismo año de su estreno, antes de las olimpiadas de Los Angeles. Me encantó verlo de nuevo, muchas gracias por colgarlo.
John Baxter Taylor Jr. (November 3, 1882, Washington, D.C. - December 2, 1908, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) was an American track and field athlete, notable as the first African American to win an Olympic gold medal.[1]
Vi, esta película en el 86 y me cautivó. Hace años la busco y al fin la encuentro. Eternas gracias por subirla. Me gustaría compartirla con mi esposo pero no sabe inglés. Alguien sabe dónde se puede ver en español? Gracias.
Not sure how much of the “backstories” are true, but I think the winners of the events were reported correctly. Regardless, this is a delightful movie. I especially loved the story of the US National Anthem. I would love to know if it really happed like that.
Some of the backstories are true. The National Anthem story is not and neither is the whole getting the Greece late. It's a fun film though. Oh, the American swimmer did far better for real.
This miniseries has something of a James Bond connection. Madam Ursula Schumann was played by Honor Blackman who played Bond Girl Pussy Galore in Goldfinger. Baron Pierre de Coubertin was played by Louis Jourdan who played Bond Villain Kamal Khan in "Octopussy".
When Jamie Connolly says that he's scared of the ocean, I think about talking to my husband about not wsnting to go on a cruise because the movie Jaws made him scared of sharks.
