One of my favorite scholars!!!! He's done so many great interviews for documentaries, etc. on biblical history and criticism, FANTASTIC show Jacob!

Agree with him or not on his world-view and politics, Crossan is a treasure-trove of deep insights about early Jesus movement and one can never get enough of him. Thank you for this !

What is the likelihood that Simon of Samaria originated the Jesus Christ character, the original 'Pauline' documents ? And that Simon and his writings were co-opted by anti-Marcionite christians because Simon and his writings were in the original christian bible authored by Mark of Sinope ?

I love Crossan, but you’d think a historical scholar might be at least slightly skeptical of coming to the conclusion that Jesus and Paul were exactly who he would hope they would be

His claim about the resurrection has some justification in the Scriptures. His connecting that with evolution and humanity moving towards a hell or heaven, this is his personal take because what he lives personally.

_Jesus foretold and warned about false prophets to come. He warned what they would do and what they would say. Paul then does come and do these very things._ Matthew 7:15 *Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.* Matthew 7:16 *Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?* _Jesus says in Matt __7:16__;_ *“...Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?”* _Paul said in;_ Galatians 1:11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. Galatians 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
