Today we listen to the very first electric guitar pedal demo. This is truly a guitar pedal nerd's dream, and I am so happy to share this moment with all of you. They had tuners already, Conn made the first strobe tuners in the 1930s, big and heavy, because they were mechanical, but they worked. It's funny though... handheld tuners came before pedal tuners.

What they probably meant was that this isn't a hollow body guitar. Solid body electrics came a good long while after hollow body electrics.

Not at all, being Gibson he was probably referring to an ES-335 which was only a couple of years old at the time

I accidentally played Court Of The Crimson King one more time than was prescribed by the manual of my previous turntable model, causing the turntable to become sentient enough to get a job and an apartment of it's own.

I think you need to make a Fuzz-Tone reissue with a rotary switch with fixed settings labeled: Sousaphone, Tuba, Bass Sax, Cello, Alto Sax, Trumpet and of course Fuzz Tone. A special issue version could relabel the Trumpet setting as "Bee punch." A footswitch should be an optional extra. Of course, it should come with a demo vinyl single. -Tom

This is really cool to me - it never occurred to me that their first ideas about a distortion pedal was to almost use it as a primitive synth, in terms of reproducing the sounds of orchestral instruments. That's really fascinating.

I used to listen to records with my grandmother on her old 70's massive stereo unit and when she passed I was given that stereo despite it now being broken but because I haven't had the time or money to fix it, I have not been able to re-live those memories of sharing music with Nana.

I was thinking its a bit more like saying the first ever guitar pedal is actually a bass pedal. The world has had it backwards the whole time. The real question is if this sweet bass pedal can help guitar players do more good things.

I'm living in Tokyo for work. I spend so much time at the second hand stores all the time to find interesting guitars/ pedals/ parts. I see all kinds of vintage vinyls and I wonder about them. If only I'd have a turn table! Thank you for the nerdy video.

I need a turntable because of the genuine love you can feel when you play music on vinyl records as opposed to listening to streaming them. I’ve never had that experience first hand and would truly appreciate the warmth of it in my home

I have a large vinyl collection from 2 grandmothers that I can only look at their beautiful covers. I really need to show my young son the warm sounds a record produces. He can't even believe you can get sound from a needle.

Josh, you owed it to that demo to appear in a suit and with a jazz box. That would have been in the spirit of the times! Incredible that back in 1962, all they were thinking about was to emulate "old fashioned" instruments and tunes, as opposed to spearhead rock'n'roll sounds. Amazing too that most demos are with a bass guitar...

Hi Josh... I need a turntable because the last one that I had was a very good quality belt-driven device, but it was terminated suddenly by a bolt of lightning. No joke, lightning crawled down my FM antenna, toasted the tuner and then clawed it's way thru the turntable on the way to ground. The synchronous motor in the turntable was no more, and I still have cartons of old early rock history on vinyl that I would still love to hear and possibly digitize one day. I am also a guitar geek, and love your pedals and videos. It is very refreshing to see a pedal builder that is not afraid to promote unique builds by other small companies like Earthquaker and Wampler... it makes it seem like you are not so much afraid of property rights and saturating a specific market, as you are actually kinsmen in a similar venture all just cheering each other on as you do something you enjoy. Keep it up, guys.

I don't need that turntable (but it would be super cool). Got a fair collection of Vinyl I want to digitize for my kids. Got all the digital tech sorted, analogue input is the last bit. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and knowledge, big fan of open source thinking (to a point ;p business is business just doesn't have to be a winner takes all mentality, there's enough here for everyone). The amount of saliva building up along with the tension when you were unwrapping the record at around 1:14 is breath taking to watch. Also; I have thirteen records including the one from my own band that I have yet to listen to on vinyl. This is why I think i deserve the U-Turn Turntable. Love the videos!

A few years ago (10 probably) I inherited a small vintage vinyl collection which prompted me to drag out my ancient 1988 turntable and start listening to the warmth of vinyl, I'd love a great rig I could rely on.
