Everywhere you turn you receive messages about how important it is to be present and mindful. Yet so often we are distracted, worried about the past or future, and overall disconnected. Despite this we set goals, we try to change our habits, and fall short.
The first step in any change we want to make is noticing. Noticing our patterns, our internal experience (thoughts, feelings, memories, physical sensations), and how we respond to the world.
We can't change patterns we don't see. This video is all about that first step of present moment awareness.

I just discovered ACT and I don't know where it has been my whole life. I really struggled with intrusive thoughts as an OCD sufferer and every other method I tried never gave me so much peace as ACT has. Now I simply observe the intrusive thoughts, the fear, the anxiety, the bodily sensations, and then I allow them to stay or leave if they please. I picture them as actors on a stage in a theatre; and I as the observer just watching them. I allow them to enter and leave the stage throughout the play of the present moment. This has brought me so much calm ever since I started using it. Thanks for the video.

My new GO-TO Channel..I will be listening ti these videos over and over again, until I have this info ingrained into my psyche...not obsessively, mind you, but focusing on the present..staying in the NOW.

Love this! If there are any other videos you'd like to see please let me know. As you can probably tell I've been a bit behind on posting stuff but want to get back at it. These comments help a lot. Thank you.

Hi Jessica! I love the ACT videos that you're sharing on RU-vid. I wish there were more opportunities for women in ACBS to connect, but delighted to find your videos. It's wonderful that you make the core processes approachable.

Thank you so much for sharing! And yes, connecting is so important. Are you a member of ACBS (Association for Contextual Behavior Science)? They have a Women's SIG (special interest group) that can be a great starting point.

@@theacttherapist I have been a member of ACBS and in the Women's SIG for many years. It's challenging to recognize everyone in the Women's SIG and I think I'm more under the radar because I haven't published or presented at an ACBS WorldCon. I'm so busy with clinical work, that writing or producing media is on the back burner for now. I love your videos! Fantastic work Jessica!

Thank you Jessica. The thought that my life got ruined after doing Ayahuasca is very strong. Things are much more intense inside now - panic, fear and depression which I did not have before. I feel like it distorted my values. How accept and work with that?
