I will be getting a Brittany. I've been researching for the past 3 years to try to find the best breed for me. I've known I wanted a gun dog breed for quite a while, but there were several breeds that all had the qualities I wanted, so I couldn't decide between them. (Endless energy, toy driven, tolerant of other dogs, and not too much shedding. I was looking at Standard Poodles, Poodle mixes, Wirehaired Pointing Griffons, Working Cocker Spaniels, Working English Springer Spaniels, Welsh Springer Spaniels, and eventually Brittanies.) In the end, I based my decision off the dog I already have; he doesn't stand up for himself, so he prefers dogs who aren't big enough to push him around. He's usually fine with larger dogs when he's outside in a big open space, but indoors it's easy for them to just push him against the wall and stuff. A Brittany is pretty much the same size as he is, so that's what I went with. Springers would have fit the bill as well, but I couldn't find any breeders I liked. Some Standard Poodles are also small enough, but there's too much variation in the breed, and I decided not to risk it. I'm actually hoping my Brittany will turn out to be a bit on the larger side of the breed (which is still fairly small), because I'm hoping to go urban mushing with her once she's full grown. I also want to try bitework. Brittanys are not a typical breed for that, so I'm not expecting to win any prizes with her, but it looks like fun to me.

@@karisalmon3234 it kinda is, because when a dog is full grown they have their own mindset and its tougher to desensitize since puppies are still learning the way of life. i have too missed the desensitization in my pups early weeks and he is not very confident of himself and seems insecure.

It took more than 20 minutes for my dog to give a bit of a growl, even if they beg, give them a treat

j g if they make any noise or bark say speak and give a treat. Keep treats on you. It’s much easier to train if you catch them doing what you want and giving a command. For example when I potty trained my dog I said go pee when she would pee and gave her a treat. Now when I take her to pee if I’m in a hurry I can say “go pee” and she will pee on command. It’s also good to use a hand signal as well as a verbal command. For speak you just youse your hand as if it was a puppet talking. Good luck.

@@dailydoseoftiktok1150awesome! I just got a Shepadoodle yesterday and she's about 9 weeks. I've never had a puppy but we do have a 1 year old and they are surprisingly similar, except when my daughter bites me there's less teeth! Lol. Enjoy your new family member!

He needs to do it with a rescued dog. They’re more likely to have been traumatized than a puppy from a reputable breeder.
