Well I popped around my dads a few days ago and he had been off drifting in his boat and caught the first sea trout of the year. They are lovely fish and cracking to see. We used to catch quite a few trout, but unfortunately the seals get to them in the nets first. It was later weighed at 4lb! Bigger than I thought

Had one right up in the city many moons ago, just next to the the Ribs of Beef on Magdalene St. Good to see there's still a few about.

Well deserved for your dad mate, is he gonna eat it or sell it, if he's eating it i hope you get a bit? I saw one about the same size caught up the river Yare a few years ago, the chap didn't know what it was and put it back, take care mate,NorfolkRay

I think hes going to put it on the market out of curiosity. They are virtually all bought by government scientists to study, but the scientist is on holiday at the moment. I havent seen one on the market in donkeys years

A rare fish indeed,had a 4 pounder 3 years ago,the first one I’ve caught in 40 years and probably the last,must confess as valuable as it was it got eaten,the other half said that was nice have to catch more of those,she couldn’t understand why I couldn’t stop laughing,😀

@@brettlittle9913 We used to catch quite a few of them before the seal numbers went mad. Now we get parts of them. If we go out a few mile, you still get plenty of small ones in the mackerel gear

Never seen one let alone caught one in 58 years of sea angling.

In serious decline, not quite as screwed as the salmon yet, but not looking great for the future.

The scientists who take most of the sea trout for analysis tell us the stocks are good for trout. They say the salmon stocks are in serious decline because they venture out of British waters and get hammered by overseas fishermen.
