How to fish the Nikko Hellgrammite on rock walls...
Doing some pre-fishing on Douglas lake for an upcoming tournament. The weather this day was terrible but i had heard the fish had been biting good so i was hoping to find some to come back to later. Started fishing a rck ledge and found some smallmouth and largemouth sinking the Nikko Hellgrammite on it.

Great discussion of your experience on how to use the Hellgrammite - thanks. I've been fishing them with a "mojo" rig using an owner 1/0 or 2/0 "cover shot" straight shank rigged weedless with the finesse weight pegged 6-16" up the line with great success. I put the weight closer to the hook on a rocky bottom and longer with grass/weeds. Works great

Great video just just a FYI never put your hook around the eye because it nicks it and then it messes your line up, I usually put it on the foot of the eyes but never the eye itself, hope it helps

Wow this video was just what I needed! My order of Hellgrammites came in last week and I was having trouble getting it rigged up on my hook. They are extremely tough and durable. Seeing how you rigged it helped a lot. Way easier to get on instead of running the hook all the way through like I was trying.

Just a tip, don't put you're lure with the barb in you're line guide. It can scratch or mess it up. Put it on the attachment to the line guide, Dad taught me that and you don't want to mess up a line guide.

I have fished all my life with live bait and am wanting to change to a modern type bait. I have bought hellgramits but haven’t used yet. Could you tell me a few artificial baits to fix up a small tackle box to fish small private lakes and possibly creeks. I will fish for anything that will bite

I can help out DW. My favorite 5 baits to put in a small tackle bow include these. Zman Micro Chatterbait, Keitech Easy shiner 3-4", Hellgramite, Zman CrawZ and a small squarebill or jerkbait .. I can target any depth with these baits and present a multitude of presentations! Also, some terminal tackle would be some 1/10 oz shroom head jig heads and some bulletZ heads for thick cover or rock structure!

Was so exciting to see the big smallies. Hope that wasn't thunder. Wow, the geology of the lake was awesome, can you imagine the earth's upheaval to stand those rocks up like that. Easter is at our door, pray people will let their children know the true meaning and it not just getting a basket full of candy and colored eggs.
