Motorola is back with its very own flagship smartphone in 2020. This is the Motorola Edge Plus. FOLLOW ME IN THESE PLACES FOR UPDATES Twitter - / unboxtherapy Facebook - / lewis.hilsenteger Instagram - / unboxtherapy
2:22 let's be honest the real reason most flagships nowadays dont have headphone jacks is to promote their brand's ear buds... Not for "mOrE sPaCe fOr hArDwArE"
I have a feeling this phone is going to depreciate in value due to the fact that is a Motorola phone. Once this phone drops in price, this phone will be a flagship killer for late 2020 early 2021.
Verizon will probably prioritize this thing on promos over other brands. Look back to the insane deals they did on the Droids or the Pixel 1 and 2. They were selling Pixel 2 XLs for $240.
@@Army-nx9lc someone actually gets it. Updates mean nothing it just people nit picking. Android 10 or 11 theres not much to write home about. I just don't get people some days, can you message yes can you snap chat can you ring people can you use you're phone yes. So what difference is the update. Sorry for rant
That fingerprint scanner is fast, but not the fastest. I feel the gap between fingerpress and unlock time. I don't know I would care about that more than the top notch processor instead.
It's enough for medium sized phones. I mean, if you wanna see something really nice get a good tv or monitor and watch it properly from a safe distance and without burning your eyes.
Using a 5,5" display and never felt the need of actually using 1080p while watching videos. This screen resolution thing became just a cashgrab. Whatchu gonna do on a phone? Brain surgery?
I love how massive your working space is on screen while you record your videos and how well you will up the frame with the perfect placement of the lounging chair on the left and the tv and setup on the right
@@kevinchong1538 So ur one of the idiots that uses airpods I presume? Some people actually enjoy quality sound through the aux jack. Bluetooth can't provide great sound at a low price just yet.. Let alone true audiophile worthy sounds.
The fact that companies like this can make a flagship with a headphone jack shows that all the other companies are lying to us when they say they have no room for it
You guys should look at Redmagic. It has A FAN IN THE PHONE! YET THEY ALSO HAVE A HEADPHONE JACK! Yes, phone companies pretty much lying to us about not having room, they're just lazy.
@@Jack_The_Ripper_Here their owned by Lenovo and I think he uses lenovo laptop. my problem with this phone is that it has recurring screen issues and owners are furious.
@@mdtaylor2274 Huge burn in visible especially on gray colors and under 75% brightness, it gets more and more visible. I had 2 and had to return them immediately and went with Xiaomi. Best decision I've ever made.
U can also swipe from the edge display into the middle of the device to open a quick menu with up to six apps that you choose to display. Essentially a quick menu.
Ever since it was announced, it has been my dream phone. Today, I am happy to announce that I am watching from my Motorola Edge+ (Fully Restored from the Famous Screen Problem).
I'm still using a Note 4, been hoping that these companies would change their tune and go back to making consumer friendly electronics. Doesn't seem like that's happening anytime soon, so now I'm just researching the cheapest of the cheap "new" phones. If I have to upgrade, I'm not giving these thieves a penny more than I have to. The fact that the masses accepted no removable battery is the biggest travesty to mobile devices ever, and it should be insulting to every single human being that owns a cellphone. It's strictly and unashamedly planned obsolescence. The idea that they needed to remove them for waterproofing is provably false, as phones had already achieved very high levels of waterproofing before that point. I remember pulling a Galaxy S5 out of a 100gallon tank of water, it had been there for a couple hours at least, and it was perfectly fine... There's absolutely no reason to take batteries away from people other than to lower the lifespan of the device. Lithium Ion batteries have limited recharge cycles. Once you break that threshold the battery is garbage and the device suffers for it-- or even breaks. All because of a 15$ piece of tech. When I bought my Note 4 I purchased two back up batteries for it. My phone still runs perfectly fine. It's not sluggish or anything like that. It runs every app without trouble. Cell phone companies know that the latest and greatest don't have any serious real technical upgrades over devices that are five years old, that's why they shovel new cameras down everyones throats. They have to create a system where people have a reason to upgrade every few years, and if you take away peoples ability to easily replace a battery you are 100% assuring that they will have to get a new device every two or three years.
@@DefianceOrDishonor yup you're exactly right. I have a Nokia 8 which was released in 2017. I got it in November 2018, and now just about 2 years and 8 months later, the battery is completey trashed. It's an unremovable battery of course.... Nothing wrong with the phone, the screen or anything. But I can barely use it without it being plugged in to the charger... Now I'm back on the look for a new phone because of a dead battery... They know exactly what they're doing..... Same with the no more headphone jacks. It's all a ploy to drain your pockets...
@@DangerousMongoose Do people actually care about this? Gorilla have been doing this "experiments" on their glasses but it's still not going to change that the durability is still literally the same as 10 years ago, like @Furious killer said, "glass is glass and glass breaks"
Im watching this from my edge+. I've never been so Happy with a phone. This and oneplus 8pro. Battery is amazing. Speed is amazing. Hand the form factor in your hand is wow for such s huge phone
@@MrPDTaylor you're absolutely right, I still use the Moto z Play 1st gen, which also had more than a day battery life out of the box, and even though I got it a few years ago, it still holds up
Lew, man do some justice...it's Motorola! This device deserves your sim and another review vid. Lots of stuff missed out...S20 ultra ain't giving a stock android experience or a headphone jack or macro cam or edge functionality...we want a full use review!!
That 5000 MHz really does lasts for 2 days. I have Moto E4+ (5000 MHz). If you do not play games, then it will definitely last for 2 days (no continue use). I keep playing (games like darkness rises) straight for 8 hours and still battery remains like around 10-20%. It's Amazing.
I've moved up from a moto g4 play to a pixel to a note 10 plus and even though I love my note to death the moto really did feel so nice especially for the price. The ambient display was super nice comparatively
The ambient display is one of the things I really loved on Motorola phones and was one of the things I had to give up when I switched to Nokia. But now I've gotten used to the double tap to wake screen on my Nokia 5.1 plus
Update: I actually went with the S20 Ultra after serious thought. Got a good offer on my S10, where the price was justified. The 100X Zoom was definitely the main seller for me, considering I take ALOT of pictures and don't like carrying my camera with me everywhere. Absolutely insane phone.
Had this edge screen with similar features on my 5 year old Galaxy S6 edge. Never used any of them and just made the screen more susceptible to scratches and damage. Also cost double for any curved edged screen protectors. Definitely not a good idea.
@@fourlegged_chicken yess, but rn samsung himself undo the features, but maybe they are trying on the full bezelless, base on the rumor, who knows right... Haha hope so.
It probably won't. If you have Verizon chances are you're not going for a Motorola. I was so excited to finally upgrade my S7 but Moto goes and shot themselves in the foot AGAIN by making it an exclusive.
Still on Motorola G7 Power with a 5000mAh also.. planning to get this soon. Btw, thank you for a good review for this device. Other vids not as great. Good day
I personally HATE curved displays and rounded corners on displays as I hate watching content and using apps when parts of the content/apps are contorted and hidden
ANOTHER thing I forgot to mention is that the screen is technically raised when the screen is curved and even when using a case as a case is not meant to cover the screen so there would be like a few millimetres gap between the top of the case and the top of the screen and it sticks out past the case which doesn't help much with protection
Hello unbox therapy , I have to say this phone is pretty good I'm in Ottawa Ontario Canada in 2021 and I have purchased the Motorola edge plus after your review in grey but here it costs 2000$ full price and it's a really good phone and now I got android 11 and now I got face unlock and other new features it's a bit different then the USA version for example the shortcut bar it's used only for shortcuts , the edge display doesn't work for all apps if you want it to disappear and you dont have to put the phone face down for the light you can keep it right side up but I'm excited to see what I get with android 12 moto does really good phones thanks for your review you do a good job I've watched alot of your reviews I find them really helpful
The back doesn't make sense tho. Why angle the notice under the sensor but keep the M logo in portrait. Also the composition is weird, all the bits just look randomly placed. The front is amazing but the back is frustrating. And yes, it does matter.
That phone does everything extremely fast, great screen, camera and good battery and it looks great Him: yeah... i don't know... i kinda like it i guess...
Love the Advancement they made... what I cant wait to watch is the latest in tech which front camera can hide when you dont need it instead of motorised or small notch camera on dispaly.. Hopefully Someone is gonna come up with it. THANKS UNBOX THERAPY
