Since this is a spoiler review I can say this: I laughed so hard seeing Nick Cage fighting the giant spider. Everyone in the theater looked at me like I was crazy

The running has grown on me I can’t lie, the speed he moves kicks the friction on the ground down to basically nothing, so he moves more like an ice skater than a runner really there, which is kinda neat
That's how I feel it's exactly like an ice skater, and since he's entering the speed force when doing it there is no reason he would have to run regularly.
My favorite thing about this movie is that there is no true antagonist. Ezra is in 95% pf the movie and most of it is Barry having to struggle internally (and externally) with himself, how he’s changed, who he could’ve been, and that he can’t save everyone.
I love that they made the Justice Leauge feel like a real thing in this like making Flash the janitor of the JL is what they do in the comics it's like a running no pun intended gag with them. Also loved the dynamic between both Barry's.
How weird was it to hear Barry call Bruce his best friend? It worked and was true. The Bruce and Barry scenes were some of the best in a bad cinematic universe. But you've distinctly shifted your meta axis when Bruce and Clark aren't your World's Finest... And I kinda like it.
That’s kinda interesting, I agree Barry and Bruce are like the world’s finest. It’s weird but it does work especially given Superman for the most part isn’t traditional Superman in dceu.
It's sad because Ezra legit killed it. He came off sincere and angsty, when Batfleck turns him down for dinner and says "Maybe next time" then gives him this prolongued look before closing the door to make sure he was okay, that really hit different when he see's Clooney at the end instead of Batfleck, because that prolongued look was the last time this mentor/protege couple saw each other. Not to mention that is what Keaton said as well when Barry couldn't save him he says maybe next time.
I still find it odd I haven't heard anyone bring up how when Barry and Ben Bruce were talking about time travel he brings up the time travel he did in the ZSJL movie
How cool would have been if it was the Rogues Batman and Flash were fighting in the beginning? Instead of a random killer, would have been so much better if it was someone like Captain Cold or Heatwave

James Gunn said that blue beetle is the first dcu character but Superman legacy will be the first dcu movie. After seeing this movie and how it shows that certain things can be the same in one universe while other things are different I think Gunn means that blue beetle will still be set in the dceu universe but that version of blue beetle will also exist in the dcu universe.
@@Akkbar21 The Batman was a big success and Superman: Legacy in 2025 will be the palette cleanser and start the new universe. The only DC movie next year is Joker 2. Only 2 DC movies so far are coming out in 2025 with The Batman Part II and Superman: Legacy. If Blue Beetle is successful, it gets to stay. If not, they’ll move on.
I thought Batman was gonna drop the dude and Aquaman was gonna pop out the water. As much as I liked this movie you coul feel it missing a Terminator and Super Mermaid.
I will say that while I wasn't a huge fan of the movie, the scene where main Barry yells at his alternate younger self for saying, "OK Mom" was so good
Crazy how we use to think Multiverse movies were too confusing for general audiences But now the most successful and acclaimed movies the past few years are multiverse movies 😂 One of them even won best picture at the Oscars
I remember when Bioshock infinite came out and people needed explanations for what the hell was going on with the multiverse. Now it’s like “so The lighthouse and the city are cannon events and the man is always a variant of Booker in some way”

@@thegloveofficial3838 i don’t think it’ll ruin the movie but it would be a slight hinderance on the movie. The CGI in flash didn’t ruin the movie for me it was just something I disliked. But the CGI that was overused was the stuff he used with the flash. His Batman stuff was great, Affleck and Keaton.

Granted the CGI was wonky, but I won't be suprised to find out that the the nic cage cameo is probably the most expensive deep cut inside baseball joke ever made. Yes because of the way the internet works people will find out about it later when they check out articles or see people like you talk about it. But for the general audience, a lot of which went in not even knowing there was any Ezra Miller drama, are not going to understand why Nic Cage fightng a giant spider is a joke.
It was okay. I think it was more enjoyable than Ant Man, Black Adam, DSMoM, and Eternals. I think the movie was insanely over hyped. Controversy aside, I still think Ezra is a bad cast for Barry. Keaton was insanely enjoyable, Kara didn’t really feel necessary at all, not helped by her aesthetically not looking like Kara either (could’ve kept the actress and just made her blonde). I genuinely had a few tear at the end when he’s talking to his mother, but that’s due to my personal history I’m assuming. It’s still a good scene.
Can you explain why you think Ezra Miller is badly cast? I personally hate what he’s gotten away with, so just unload all your complaints, I won’t be offended.
@@Popcultureguy3000 Personally, I can not stand his mannerisms and type of humour as Barry Allen. I found it so hard to watch the Flash in JL 2017. Synder JL flash was a little better but it was still bad.
@@Popcultureguy3000 He isn’t written to be Barry and acts more like Bart Allen, not even Wally. He doesn’t fit Barry at all as far as any version from the comics.
The great thing about this movie was that it was also a SOLID Flash origin movie. It was a smart way to continue an overall story, wrap up plotlines, set up plotlines, and still found a way to give us that "first time using powers" moment. The "great powers/responsibility" moment, but also cashed in sequel tropes like team-ups and power upgrades, etc. As a DC casual who enjoyed the Snyder stuff, all in all, the DCEU first run was pretty solid and something different.
@@Byronic19134 The only change Gunn was a part of with the Flash was the ending with Clooney if that was his call. He literally had nothing to do with it otherwise. The leaks matched up months before he ever got the head DC job. Blaming him is frankly stupid and completely wrong. The movie had 3 endings with the first being Keaton Batman and Supergirl at the courthouse which was shown at CinemaCon this year and shows things changed. That was shot in 2021. Then another ending was shot in October before Gunn got the job with Cavill, Wonder Woman, Keaton’s Batman, and Supergirl at the courthouse. It’s when Cavill thought he was back. The third which is in the theater is Clooney at the courthouse which was shot in January. Stop blaming Gunn.
@@Akkbar21 It isn’t tied into a reboot since Ezra Miller is done as the Flash and the Clooney thing is a joke to close it off. If the original Keaton and Supergirl ending aired or the 2nd one with them alongside Wonder Woman and Cavill’s Superman, then it would seem like a relaunch with the universe changing.
The movie was okay but If you don't vibe with the writer or directors comedic style or jokes. I can see why people would get frustrated with a joke every other scene. That was the case for me as much of the time I was cringing. I grew up with the animated Justice League Flash who was written with the perfect balance of style and tone. I can't stand Ezra Miller's weirdo Flash because of that. The CGI was wonky as hell and took me out most of the time. As for Supergirl, I liked her rage as that is true to the character and other than Batman's introduction scene, I thought he was cool. Overall the story was interesting especially with the reveal of second Barry's obsession with saving his universe. I did like the chrono dome scenes and the cameos. I hope we are done with Ezra Miller and his version of the Flash.
The Jason Mamoa scene was meant to have a phone call at the end that was Affleck calling from whatever universe he got trapped in. Hence why he filmed a (now scrapped) cameo for Aquaman 2.
Loved this movie , obviously a more accurate flashpoint would’ve been great, liked the humor more than the kiddy mcu humor , regardless if the movie was good or bad it did it’s job with resetting the universe (but it was good so hell yeah)

When he's with his parents before other Barry arrives, it's just him saying nonsense. No epic moment can happen without a joke. The tooth when the other gets powers, the costume falling when we're shown the ring, cutting the hear when other Barry makes his costume. Every f***** time, it was a torture for me 😂 But glad your theater enjoyed it. In mine I didn't hear anyone laughing to be honest but also we were like ten ^^
@@mattfortmuller5 GOTG Vol. 3 literally just came out and Secret Invasion is coming out on Wednesday which from reviews is said to not have much humor. The “kiddy MCU humor” criticism is a dumb thing to say. A lot of the humor worked in the Flash, but there were bottom of the barrel jokes. There was the weird “Come on, Barbie” line. Shang-Chi and No Way Home didn’t exactly have a ton of kiddy humor in 2021. Neither did Multiverse of Madness and Wakanda Forever last year. She-Hulk and Love and Thunder exist along with Quantumania, but you’re being disingenuous.
I thought the humor was evocative of the old Superman movies. I saw it right after Across the Spider-Verse. It was a little jarring how similar they were. Ron Livingston was a good recast of Barry's dad. I'd like to think the real 89' universe had Chris Reeve Superman in it. Maybe even John Wesley Shipp's Flash. Just no Justice League.
Really looking forward to the new era of DC although Gunn is really gonna have a tough job . In the general audience the DC brand has been tarnished. Even now , at the time of writing I'm beginning to see headlines saying the flash is not making as they expected
If you’re a die-hard DC fan willing to overlook the rote storyline and public menace that is Miller, the quippy performances and the nostalgia bait of Keaton et al might raise a smile. But it’s diminishing returns here, as studios struggle to make a convincing argument for why audiences should care about any of these characters when they only seem to exist as mechanisms for a cynical business strategy. No stakes, no Gods, no masters. Just infinite universes of IP stretched into infinite content, as far as the eye can see.
I personally support firing Ezra Miller, and I'm going to see this movie. And also based upon the box office numbers, Miller is most likely going to be fired by Warner Bros anyway unless what Andrew Maschetti said about Ezra Miller being not replaced is true.
The movie was better than I thought it would be, but it’s by no means one of the best comic book movies ever. It does bug me that we didn’t see Reverse Flash or how his mom was killed. Also, Kara confronts Zod initially and then just returns to the Batcave like she didn’t just fly away bc the movie isn’t over yet. Couldn’t get past either Barry running and they were both kind of obnoxious to me because I don’t like the actor. If Barry A had been better in either Justice League then maybe the movie would have been better for me. I did love the Nic Cage Superman fighting the giant spider. Give us that Superman movie, DC, you cowards!
Cool show! You guys touched on it a little I liked all the Barry mom stuff really hit home but yea other than that and just the outlandishness of it I probably won't remember the other parts once the new dc stuff starts coming out

I have a theory that Jay/Zoom is actually using the chrono bowl to make time remnants and then found out about the multiverse thru what happened in the movie.
Interesting theory! I’m not sure if they are gonna continue any real plot point from this movie honestly. But since he mucked with time it could age the kid up and maybe give him powers. It could be a great origin story tho.

@@princephillips7410 I don't think it's a great reason to hate Flash at all, infact during that scene I really appreciated how Flash covered the kids eyes and turned him around so he didn't see his fathers brains splat all over the asphault when he landed.

Why wouldn’t Barry even stick around to see who killed his mother? Is it because they were going to make it Reverse Flash but didn’t want to try to fit that into the movie?
I love humor, but not that kind of humor. Saying his parents he has to take a s**t in the garden, d**k jokes and an all lot like that ? I'm not twelve. It works with the mother but it's 4mn in the movie The cameos are ugly and useless. The movie has no arc. He's supposed to understand to let go and that you mustn't change the past but he still does at the end so he learned absolutely nothing. Oh and of course a lot of the CGI are terrible, it's crazy to see that in 2023 aside of the duplicate effect I don't think it's gonna do good. Most people are fed up with that kind of stupid humor super hero movies But great for those who enjoyed it
Why didn’t Barry try to get kryptonite? Did he even mention it at all in the film? Why didn’t Barry try to phase his hand through Zod and destroy his brain?
You know that Henry Allen would have gotten off if he just kept the receipt and they really didn’t want to address that option in the movie. Only one camera and none at the check outs, huh?
I thought this was by far Ezra’s best performance as the Flash and they should be priased for this work. Even with all the problems surrounding them. Overall I thought it was great, was it a perfect comic book movie? No but was a lot better than what I expected it to be.
Enjoyed this movie, this is the best thing they have produced besides THE BATMAN for their new era cinematic universe! If they can keep this pace they will do well. Ik this is an unpopular opinion but Ezra really made this movie for me. They did amazing job and I wouldn’t mind seeing them continue as the flash as long as they cut the shenanigans 😅. Props to everyone involved in the movie production 😁

The Suicide Squad by James Gunn was a much better movie along with Peacemaker as a show. Ezra Miller was never coming back as the Flash even before the movie flopped at the box office.
I was thinking where’s Superman (I thinking if Zod either killed Kal-El, or he turn him into The “Doomsday” of This Universe, kinda do The Super-Doom Comic where The Man of Steel turn into The Monster that killed him)
Honestly Benny I have to completely disagree here. I’m an avid Flash comic reader. Barry Allen/flash is my favorite fictional character. This movie was a massive let down. It felt like a cop out…yes the flash did “carry” the movie, meaning it was Barry’s story…but it was not a flash story. No Flash universe characters. No flash lore. No flash family character interactions. No scenes with Barry as a forensic scientist…no mention of Thawne or RF…I don’t even think they mentioned the speed force. This movie would have been fine if there was a movie before it more akin to a Flash year 5. He’s had these powers for 9 years and he’s still acting like the immature kid to the mature rest of the league. Not to mention I didn’t feel connected to the mother in this at all…yes the TV did use the mothers likeness as a speed force representation in the later seasons a lot when it went way down hill…but the show made me care SO much about Nora. Watch any of season 1 and you’ll see so many flash backs and touching scenes which showed us how great of a mother she was, how big their connection was…go back and watch Runaway Dinosaur from season 2 which Kevin Smith Directed, the show did such a better job with that. This felt like a decent time travel movie with the Flash as the vessel that just happened also to have other nostalgia based justice league members in it. I think average fans will possibly enjoy it (depending on whether the humor hits with you or not) but as a diehard Flash fan I hated it. Then again, I think Ezra Miller as Barry Allen might be the most miscast actor for a role in the history of the world. He acts more like Bart Allen/Impulse with his Jittery Slapstick quippy humor. I’ve never liked his portrayal so this movie was going to have to be an extremely good flash movie for me to changed my mind about that. I personally still think that CW Flash seasons 1-3 are the most comic accurate, well done, well written, true Flash content that we will ever get and we probably won’t get another solo Flash depiction again because this movie sadly won’t make money and due to the Ezra controversy Gunn is going to bench Barry Allen to avoid the controversy and that really sucks. Grants Barry will always be the superior portrayal for me and at least I can always revisit that.
I Agree. Barry Allen is my favorite as well and Ezra Miller didn't portray Barry at all. They added Patty and did nothing with her. They used Albert Desmond and also did absolutely nothing with him. No Captain Cold, Mirror Master, Weather Wizard, or Trickster. None of his villains showed up. The only cool and creative thing he did with his speed was create a tornado. Barry is very creative in the use of his speed. It's frustrating because everything I love about Barry Allen wasn't even shown in the movie. It was like I was watching someone else with his name. Reading some of the Silver Age, New 52, and Rebirth comics of Barry had shown me some levels of consistency that created a distinctive feel and personality to him that we didn't see portrayed at all in the movie. It spits in the face of fans that know the Barry Allen character in and out.
The CGI was so bad but maintained a consistency of style and ugliness that it became a stylistic characteristic of the movie that by the end was not an issue for me. That's why I actually like the face that Christopher Reeve superman for example, was CGI bc by this point all depictions of the speed force were. I dont really by the way the director made the explanation sound, but it's clear there was a deliberateness with how they juggled what was in the budget and possible with the time constraint and changes.
I finally watched the movie today and holy shit it's a huge coincidence my mom made us spaghetti tonight!! 😂😂 I didn't know spaghetti was gonna be such a thing in this movie tbh, I wasn't really spoiled on this movie before going into it
The way I saw the stuff with the 89 universe and the DCEU continuity mixing was that their worlds kinda combined in a way and merged both for the timelines into one, just the way I interpreted it but I’ve only seen the movie once so far so who knows
I'm actually a big fan of the running mainly because it's comic accurate, it's just nice to see someone attempt to replicate that style in live action.
Almost walked out at the "Baby Shower" scene but glad I didn't. It was fun. Also, not sure what screen you guys were watching it on, but the duplicate scene in Barry's room was pretty clearly digital instead of practical effects. Could have gone Parent Trap approach instead.
There was only one or two scenes where I noticed the duplicate effect. The masks were mostly terrible though. Definitely fake and it takes you out of the movie
Because of the ambitiousness of the visuals as well as It Chapters 1 and 2 I have full faith in Muschietti as a director but damn crunch time rly fucked this movie up in some places. Overall rly enjoyed it still.
@@TheShockVox The movie’s been delayed so much because of like 5 different script overhauls, Director changes, and ofc the Ezra miller controversy which delayed reshoots.
I stand by I think it is a good movie and a fun movie. I enjoyed it but I dont really like it. I just am bothered by the personality of Barry he just doesnt feel very Barry to me. I thought the story pacing was fine and I liked the changes that they made overall to flash point and how they made it work in house.
I thought the movie was awesome. I enjoyed this one more than any of the other movies, and the slight averse, with the exception of one in the woman. Kind of hoping a little more for sure the world and what we got but I thought she was great. Michael Keaton is Batman I like how they close the wonder woman and Ben Affleck. I really hope they bring Michael Keaton back and they do a Batman beyond movie. I doubt it though.
If it was reverse flash who killed her it's basically from comics . If it was random burgular they r actually adapting it from animated Flashpoint movie where a burgular killed her when she's making Barry's bday cake

I enjoyed the Flash movie! Imo the Dark Knight is in my top 3 of movies of all time and this isnt that good but it was good for a Flash movie!! Sasha Calle should stay as Supergirl imo, i loved her as Supergirl!
why every time ONE character makes a metaphor or a theory explaining something like the multiverse or time travel, EVERYONE ASUMES it is an absolute fact and the definitive explanation of how it works? its like "the dc multiverse is like spaghetti and that is the RULE for every single dc proyect". seriously?
My only complaint from this movie is the absolutely horrendous CGI in the speed force. Regardless if Andy Muschietti said it was intentional it is still looks absolutely terrible

This movie was definition of 7/10 for me, it was ok, it had its moments, but there are parts of it that felt like it was a rushed forced jumbled mess. The whole fake campaign about how this movie was supposed to "crisis that will reset everything" kinda ruin my expectations The cgi was definitely interesting some parts has cw flash quality, some parts were decent. Regardless of whether its true or not erza miller still being flash after this kinda bugs me to.
Favorite Thing about the moviie: The creative use of speed and the speed force chronosphere effect. I was hoping that when i got a flash movie some day it wouldnt just be really cool slow motion. Using film as a depiction of moving through time is an unexpected way the human mind and cognitize a quick visual representation of time slowing to a crawl backwards. Favorite scene: The Barry's at the apartment after young Barry get his powers. This movie's comedy is actually unexpectedly good especially when it comes to gags with speed. They snuck in an origin story in a movie with an established character by giving his more immature self his abilities even recreacting the accident. That god damn Speedy Gonzales joke!? Thats going to be stuck in the happy bank of my mind forever. The CGI: ..........its a cartoon. I legitimately dont care anymore. These people arent unionized like writers yet and if it's in something this wacky or whimsical it's not so much that i can forgive it, cus i don't. It's just not as distracting as the first scene with floating playstation babies. Again the cg is perfect when it needs to be like i said with the speed force. I think it's more of a problem where the artists chosen may not be able to catch up with the creative ideas of Andy M(I'm not even gonna fuckin try with that one)i when it comes to bringing them on screen.
I thought the movie was fun. CGI was bad, look for scenes like the baby rescue I almost feel like it's better to have them look cartoonish because I feel like that scene with totally photo-realistic babies would have upset people. Especially the baby that he saves with a microwave.
