Every time I add to my music system, I play the vinyl record that my dad gave me 20+ years ago. If I were fortunate enough to win the Fluance, it would be the same… Simon & Garfunkel’s, Bridge Over Troubled Waters.
Hey Chris! It’s been too long since we were attacked!! Glad you’re back! The first album is a hard one, but I would have to choose a boxed set of Nat King Cole on white vinyl. My father and I would listen together when I was a kid and just never stopped. He’s gone now but to this day hearing Nat sing still brings me joy!!
Glad you're back, Chris. I always enjoy hearing your perspective. Fluance, the first thing I would play would be The Complete Blue Note Thelonious Monk (Mosaic box set).
@Fluancespeakers To celebrate a kick-ass Canadian company, I'd have to go with a Canadian band just across the river from Detriot and go with @theteapartyband - The Edges of Twilight
Nice review. The first vinyl on the plus would be Supertramp , In the quietest moments. Pink Floyd ,Animals would cap the day Cheers to everyones choices !
Welcome back Chris! First album I would play on my new turntable would be The Band "Cripple CreeK" the same song/album i've played evetime i've upgraded
Glad you are back! Fluance, first album I would probably play is Jesus Christ Superstar. It is extremely dynamic given the rock and symphonic elements.
This couldn't have come at a greater time for me. I'm very much contemplating parting with my AT LPW50-PB for being noisy and purchasing an RT82. I don't want a built in phono preamp at all. My Denon stereo receiver will work until I upgrade to something better. I like my LPW50, but I've yet to isolate the 60Hz hum I'm getting. I've owned two other turntables (lp60x & technics sl-b10) which didn't hum on my system.
First album would be Ella and Louis on Verve, then Kind of Blue, then Mozart Clarinet Concertos w/ Benny Goodman on RCA, then Live at Leeds .... pretty good afternoon, don't you think? Hey Fluance, gotta get that cartridge broken in and oil warmed up😊! tio Jimmy, from beautiful 😍 bucolic 😮downtown Schnecksville, PA, sun 🌞 and fun 🎉capital of the world 😅!
Nice review. I have the RT82 with an upgraded acrylic platter. Alongside the OM10, I also have... a VMN95E cart/stylus on a non Fluance headshell. Why not a Fluance headshell? At €30 for the headshell, it suddenly becomes €130 with import duty and packing/delivery to Ireland...no local dealers stock Fluance...so I understand them not wanting to include overseas viewers in their giveaway. You are spot on with regards to the tracking ability of the AT set up vs the Ortofon offering. I prefer the AT. Possibly due to the predominantly 1980's vintage records I play mostly. It's not a great amount of spend to get into that AT range of styli in comparison to some other brands. Next on the list for me is an ML stylus...and possibly a RigB body swap...see what all the hype is about.
I would play the UHQR Miles Davis Kind of Blue….I preemptively bought this record and still don’t own a turntable for financial reasons at the moment. C’est la vie!
Fluance, seeing that you hail from the wonderful nation of Canada, I would play the 1973 album "Sundown" by Gordon Lightfoot. If I can't find it, then perhaps "Gord's Gold' may be easier to locate.
Great review! The first album I would play would be Dave Brubeck - At Carnegie Hall, an amazing live jazz recording that would really shine played on a nice table.
Great review! Love the comparisons and the detailed analysis. I've bought a total of 3 Fluance Turntables and recommended to a friend who ended up buying one as well. Bang for the buck, Fluance is hard to beat. The first album I'd play, Pink Floyd - Momentary Lapse of Reason.
Thanks for the comparison of the two turntables it helps on trying to pick out a new one. Fluance.. I would play Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives "Way Out West" :)
