The Fractal FM9 is probably the best amp modeler you can get these days. Sure the Axe FX 3 has much more processes power, but there are few of its form factors that hold it back...

Super cool that you’re relating this to Phish. I’ve been using some Neural plugins on my computer the past year to get Trey’s tones with pretty great success. Now looking for a floor unit to play live, and debating between the FM9 and the Quad Cortex after randomly stumbling on this video. Thank you for the info!

Yeah man it all started with Trey for me. The plugins are a great way to get into the unit and I’ve heard great things about the Quad Cortex, just haven’t gotten to spend any time with it yet

My Mooer ge-300 do the same i can modulate what i want volume, tone, rate, etc... Everything i want, just have to program what i want and save it in my preset.

The only thing that I don't like about the FM9 is that im not comfortable putting 1700$ on the floor

Same thing with my QC. I’m thinking about putting it on a pedal board at least and raising it off the floor. And have space next to it for a Sennheiser EW-D wireless unit.

Get some plexiglass shields and you are good. Had the first fm3 and fm9 when it first came out and never had any problems

@@x3a3x3 My worry would rather be spilling beer/water. The plexiglass shields won’t do much about that, right? I‘m sure the units are more robust than the shields.

@@josuastangl7140 I play at church so beer is not an issue 😆 but I dropped cable ends a few times and even a microphone on the fm9 once and the shields kept it safe. I can see many scratches on the shields. But honestly it’s all about the sound, and fractal is second to none. Got my fm3 then fm9 when they first came out and now the turbo. They still put a big smile on my face every time I play! I wish they were lighter and smaller like a Quad cortex but the sound and features are superior on the FM9 imho
