Even Courage The Cowardly Dog entered the world of CGI, the show still retains the comedy-horror charm with Courage's exaggerated frights and the uncanny valley look of the titular Fog's face.
I was curious why it was aired on Asia and not premiering on the US. I remember watching this as part of huge marathon on Cartoon Network Asia and I was blown away by the new art style. Thank you for actually letting everyone in the world see Courage this past days.
Most shows struggle to bring their art styles into a new animation method.. And yet Courage has always pushed the limits of 2D, sometimes blending CGI animation already. The Style, cinematography, shot composition, and off-model eccentricity/stretching is so on-point it doesn't feel jarring in the slightest in comparison. Rest in Peace, Lionel Wilson, Arthur Anderson, and Thea White.
I was so sad when the last episode aired. Knowing you’re still going at it fills me with an indescribable joy. Thanks for keeping Courage alive and well, Mr. Dilworth!
Imagine my surprise when I sat down to have a nice dinner by myself and this popped up first! I laughed out loud to myself several times at the gags, this is totally in the same Spirit of the og show! It's just like when I was a kid. Thank you so much for making and posting this. 💜🐾
Glad to see all of these rare or completely unknown to the public Courage shorts getting uploaded in high quality. Rewatching the show I always liked the experiments the digital animation allowed, so it’s really neat to see the next step of that with a whole CG short even if it didn’t lead to a full series. Kudos though, excited for Howl!
As a long time fan of your beloved show. This short animated film looks very interesting. The 3d design and voice performances is beautiful. The humor and horror style, is still the same. We hope some day, that Courage will return and having a new fun-scary show!
And we almost got a prequel series about Courage still living with his parents before what happened in Remembrance of Courage’s Past. Which would have come out around 2022 given the date of the animatic being 2021.
Hi Mr.Dilworth I Really Like This Animation And I Wanna Recommend You If Courage Returns It Would Be Better If It Is In 2D Cause If It Is In 3D A Lot Of People Wouldn't Feel That "Old Courage" Vibes (I Think That Too) But I Think You Made A really Hard Work! Keep Working In Courage! :)
@@StretchFilms courage, the cowardly dog didn't scare me as a kid and hey I'm glad to see it back on cartoon Network for a little bit aren't you going to bring it back on cartoon Network because it sucks the whole network not your show You must save cartoon Network from being the worst network ever
I remember when this first came out I was a bit on the fence due to the switch to CG instead of the hand drawn, but seeing it again years later I’ve come to appreciate it. Your work & characters will always be special to me & Always close to my heart ❤
I knew Eustace's voice here sounded familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Then when the credits came, I looked the name up. It's the same VA as Rex from Toy Story.
It’s just kind of weird CN had this thing of _NOT_ bringing back classic series when the creators wanted to and then bringing back others those respective creators wanted nothing to do with Anyways great to finally see this short in not-terrible quality, thanks Mr. Dilworth
Love this short! Wish it would’ve lead to a full revitalization for the series at the time, any more Courage that you and the team would actively want to make would’ve been awesome!
I love how this pilot is 10 years old and Cartoon Network never picked it up They are losing out, most cartoon viewers are Millenials...the same people who watched this cartoon 25 years ago and are now adults who still consume cartoons Children arent really watching cartoons, theyre on RU-vid and TikTok Thats why Cartoon Network now has a 90s-early 2000s block that begins at 5pm and ends at 7pm...catering exclusively to Millenials And Adult Swim now starts at 7pm....whereas when I was a kid it began at 11pm Cartoon Network needs to *LISTEN TO THE FANS BECAUSE THATS WHERE THE MONEY IS*
For the people crying for courage to come back, I ask why? It was a magical show for it’s time and all the og voice actors besides courage are no longer with us….imo it wouldn’t feel the same without Muriel’s voice ❤️
it'd be neat if they could vind voice actors that are spot-on. I never quite liked Eustache's voice in the cartoons later seasons. And this little 3D movie he honestly sounds terrible to me... but yeah, it may be better to keep this magical show a relic of the past and not have the present ruin it.
@@DoodlingHitman because he’s voiced by famed actor wallace Shawn who’d you know from a ton of movies, kids shows, etc. His voice is iconic but not for Eustace. He gets some of the mannerisms right but sometimes it’s not even close. He was Eustace in the last courage the cowardly dog production which was a cross over movie with scooby do which was Muriel’s last work of art before Thea white sadly passed
@@hey_its_kev He was voiced by a completely different actor in the crossover Jeff Bergman, I felt he was a alright replacement but I feel they did not direct his character right in that one.
Actually that is fair, once again the original VA passed on which was a very sad thing that happened back when. I be honest when I was younger as a kid I did not notice Eustace sounding different due to the use of archive voice clips with Anderson performance blending in those clips. Once again RIP Lionel Wilson since he was a great voice actor.
honestly its lacking the otherworldly colors and the sky, althought beautiful. in the show they go above and beyond with the color pallet. somtimes the night sky doesnt even look like earth, and add to the errie settings
Thanks for making my childhood as great as you did with your amazing animations and mindset. I truly appreciate all your hard work! Thank you Mr.Dilworth
Man I remember when this came out, I got so excited for more Courage even if the swap from 2D to CG was a little jarring. Then BOP, nothin'! You were always too good for that network! Out of curiosity Mr. Dilworth, have you seen the Courage the Cowardly Dog fangame that the RU-vidr El Gato Del Tejado's been making? If nothing else, the people who grew up with Courage will never let him fade away, even if CN wants to let that poor little dog rot, I think that's how you know you really made something special.
Yay! More Courage. I will always love the old animation style and prefer it over all CG, but I do like the flavor of this take on Courage. It does still work with the cg, tho I will always feel the 2D vs 3D cg effects have a greater impact when it comes to the creepiness factor. Still love it all the same. Thank you everyone who worked hard on this! It's as good as it's ever been!
Yo! The CGI here reminds me if the Garfield show, which may seem like a negative, but i actually really like that show and i think this is a really charming look! Good work!
Man I remember watching this 20 years ago on cartoon network when I was a kid. I Hope Mr dillworth could bring the show back on so the new generation of kids could enjoy it just as I am when I was child.
Why is there no “We interrupt this program to bring you...Courage the Cowardly Dog Show, starring Courage, the Cowardly Dog! Abandoned as a pup, he was found by Muriel, who lives in the middle of nowhere with her husband, Eustace Bagge.”
Hello Mr. John R Dilworth. I am from India and if we say "Courage" people will say it is 90's generation kids cartoon. Im near to 30 years but still I enjoy Courage the cowardly dog cartoon and recently I introduced this cartoon to our relatives kid. He liked it very much. One request sir, if you restart making courage cartoon please make in old way and maybe use old technology. We would like to see courage in old way only. Please don't introduce smart phone in the cartoon.
I had so much fun watching this! I think you did a great job transferring it to 3D, I could really see a lot of possibilities with Courage in a 3D world. Such a pleasant surprise to see another episode of one of my favorite shows.
@StretchFilms, if Courage were to make a return to TV, who would you pick to voice Muriel since the original voice actress passed away a few years ago?
No because Thea White the voice of Muriel died back in 2021. The last time she did her character was in the crossover of Scooby Doo meeting Courage. And John R,. Dilworth had no involvement with it.
I think I'm one of the few Brazilians here, but I want to say how much I love this cartoon, and I want it to come back to Cartoon Network and get new seasons. Courage is so cute. There is no way to post the special in Portuguese I don't understand much English
