Vans, f250 and 350s and a few land yachts back in the 70s. Beast of an engine but damn hard on fuel..i had a 460 in a 79 bronco and it wasn't factory.. it was sitting on 38.5 tall by 15 inch wide 16 inch wheels and wow was she thirsty AF. Id put 60$ in it and get maybe half a tank and this was in 2013. 40 gallon fuel tank
Yessir the BBF 460 can be taken to 100 over.. a 557 is crazy..the powernation guys did this before they put the 557 in a old school grand marquis that made somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 hp. Then they put like a mild 150 shot on her. That thing was a beast for a land yacht..i really hope they kept that motor around and they put in something else one day, something that weighs a lot less then the marquis does.. that would be sweet..btw if you haven't seen there ford 300 straight six build check it out..they had it go from 83 hp and 170 ish lbs of torque to 270 hp and 345 lbs of torque..naturally aspirated..stock bore n stroke..just head work, mild cam and flat top pistons.. after the turbo it was pushing 500 hp and over 500 lbs of torque..absolutely insane.. it was a 300 from a generator of some sort..
@@cellphonelightsaber yessir, the build is on YT power nation channel ,what's really crazy is when you cut two Cleveland 351 heads in half then weld 3 pieces of them together and they fit on the 300 block, not sure of the power figures with the Cleveland head but I'm sure it's a beast, Ford 300s have lots of potential and there next to impossible to grenade.
Hey man! I have a 76 Cougar that had a 400 in it that was locked up. I got a 460 out of an 86 truck that was carb swapped. Cant seem to find a motor mount cofiguration that works. Needs to "sleeve" over the 400 frame but attach to the 460. Any tips would be cool. Thanks!
I am an FE guy. I have accumulated. enough parts to build 6 FEs and the parts are capable of 800-900 hp. I’m 64 and blind enough that I ll never get a license again from a workplace accident, skull fracture is the back of my head. I certainly don’t need to start over with 460s.
My friend growing up had a 460 f250, when his parents went out of town, he strait piped it, they got pissed and made him fix it. Early 90s, single cab 5 speed big block, it was a fun truck to take to the lake.
@@Mc88Flyy mine needs alot of work but hopefully by next spring I’ll have it roadworthy I’d like to find a straight axle that way i can actually keep tires on the front but one day she’ll look good as new
@@whitefarms1991any update on yours? I just started working on her again, got half the wiring work done. I hope I can crank her up within the next 6 months. I think these blocks can hold 1k hp, If she runs good and is healthy I’ll probably do nitrous just for fun. I’m shooting for 500tq to the wheels (before nitrous)
I have a 70 f100 that we restored. I pulled a 460 out of a Lincoln continental and tore it apart down to the block bought everything new to restore it. Took a while to tune and what not but driving like a champ now. Pretty spendy to drive though.
@@danonoveh8114 yes but comparing them to rest Ford blocks the coyotes take the cake bottom of the list goes Windsor’s, inline 300s and 144/200 then the i4 from rangers to 385 series then FEs and Cleveland’s then modular family and coyotes

429 is a beauty, it's the only engine I know of for classic mustangs, I'm just now getting into big block ford mustang engines and so far the 385 is the only one I know of for the boss 429

All that is true, and it will tun for years! But, the added weight, the price to get a light weight transmission that will stand up to 600 ft pounds of tork time you release the button? A Windsor based block with boost!

I’ve had a lot of 460 they are power houses and good motors and tuff but them horses drink a lot but if it’s power ya want then you better like spending money
I’ve said this a dozen times and I’ll say it again you can do anything a 454 can do with a 350….. a 351w is awesome but it can’t stand with a 460. 454 is just a boat anchor to me unless your willing to actually spend some money and build a race engine because aftermarket parts are cheaper and easier to get for the 454 vs the 460.
Hey, I have a 2002 ford thunderbird, this car is cherry! Looks super super nice. It has a V8 3.9 that's a jaguar motor. (same motor as 2002 Lincoln ls.) I need some help getting more muscle and power. Besides sell it. It looks way to nice to part with! Help bro!
Becareful with iron gears around roller cams most are a steel or billet stell core and will prolapse an iron gear before you can say hawk Tooah always a safe bet for composite or mealonized
I’d never disrespect a 454, I love both motors. If I was going to bore something like you’re talking, I’d get an aftermarket world industries or Merlin or dart block, that isn’t just made for cubic inches, but actually designed to handle the power that you will produce
