always loved 105E, had a few in the 70s/80s, put a 1600 crosflow in one cortina back axle, single leaf van springs, capri front struts with disc brakes, Escort bobble arches all round 10 x13 Steel banded wheels on rear and 7 x 13 banded steels on front, really loved that car, wish I had it now, sold it to a mate for £250 in 1976
The 997 c.c. version of the 105E was my first car in 1969. My second-hand 1961 vehicle cost £30. and needed a lot of work inc. new back axle even though only 60k on the clock! Cheap cars were not made to last then. A massively under-powered vehicle (70 m.p.h.tops on flat ground) but a great introduction to car motoring .
Just watched this & I'm left thinking damn I so wish I'd never sold mine, the gold one about halfway through is to die for, it takes me back to the 70's hot rod racing scene as all the top drivers wouldn't entertain anything other than either an Anglia or a Mini, they ruled....
my first car was a 105e with a 1500 gt Cortina engine in it, life has come a full circle as I now have a 105e with a hot 2ltr ztec under the bonnet. its noisy, bumpy, as all tuned anglias are but it is lairy as f**k I love it
sorry for the years late reply. 1600 crossflow, with a lot of work. a3 waggot cam, head modded for unleaded, bigger valves, better valve springs. 1300cc pistons, weber, blueprinted and honed block, lightened crank,
@wordreet no old son like i said the ford SAXON is a ford mk1 Cortina shortened by about 2 feet and just a two seaterthink of it having nothing from the "B" pillor backwards(the "B" piller becoming the "C" piller!)oh and it also had a "continetal" kit fitted so the spare wheel was siting on the back bumper! fantastic looking little car!
@wordreet strangely Ford did make a Ford SAXON..it was a shortend coupe version of the Ford Cortina.. the orginal ended up at Ford's headquarters in Dearborn Mi USA but it was recrated in the UK a few years ago and it STILL LOOKS AWESOME!
Always liked these cars; they have character and are easy to modify for more performance. Seems like they would do well in the muddy hillclimb trials, as they are short wheelbase and light, but apart from a single estate car, I've yet to see one out there.

NoisyNeighbour i know! I Only made it at the time to give me some ideas for a project I was going to do. I was only 15 at the time lol. I never expected it to get any views at all.
come on this isnt exactly exciting? if it was a drag car with 1000 bhp like i have seen but they are just not. i do respect the fact though that some of u guys love these car but i just dont like. :(
Nice to see a proper car from a time when cars were a product of a mans imagination, not a computerised mess - "Shake that arse" I would like to shake them by the neck!
