Back in 2019, I had to sell my 2015 Fiesta ST. We had twins in addition to out 18 month-old son, so I’ve been driving a Chrysler Pacifica for the past 5 years… Yesterday, I bought a 2018 Fist. Damn, seems like even a rather basic full time AWD system is a gigantic advantage over 2WD on a loose surface considering that a stock VB WRX on high performance summer tires is still faster than a much smaller and lighter Fiesta ST rally car on gravel tires.
there is also more than likely a huge power disparity between the WRX and the Fiesta here, sure there is less grip technically but exit speeds are MUCH faster with the WRX just because it can spin all four easily as well
They ran the fiesta in the wrc for so many years and now discontinued it and yet we still never got an awd rs version 😭 Welp now the yaris gr exists. From toyota of all companies.

Yeah it makes sense, they dont need a homologation model anymore so why bother. But those cars were some of the coolest you could buy
@@Mr.Marbles I do not know where you are located, but the Yaris GR is VERBOTEN in the USA for street use, as were the Integrales when they were dominating the Group A era of the WRC. ☹

Braver than I (or you have many multiple rides to choose from?), as I will not even autocross or open track mine as it is a daily driven, ONLY car for me. But I have worked on ARA rallies with it, but only driving at less than half the pace that Cyr carries down the stages in this car in the video, and with a skid plate, evap canister protector, and fairly tough wheels/tires.
Here in Europe we don't use this version of Fiesta. We use the 1 litre turbo with original 140 hp. The rally version has more hp and the 5 speed sequential gearbox. 3 cylinders
The only hothatches left for sale new are FoST, Golf GTI (every VW iteration of it) and the Type R which is ludicrously expensive. Everything else is capital ded.
@BB-wz6bx I understand, l just said that, cause here in Europe, we have many different type of these litte cars to race in the rally. And maybe we have little different rules between Europe and US
@@Gasoline2009 Yes, the WRC ERC, etc. rules only allow for the base Fiesta 3 cylinder Ecoboost to compete in the Rally 4 (used to be R2C) class, and not the Mk7 1.6 ST Ecoboost, nor even the Euro only Mk8 3 cylinder Ecoboost. The Rally 3 class Fiesta is based on the Mk8 ST, but yes with an AWD kit added along with the Sadev sequential similar to the one used in the FWD Rally 4 car. Since it is such a minor, unsupported (except for the Scoobie Motorsport USA/Vermont Sportscar big buck juggernaut) and unwatched form of motorsport here in the states, very few can afford to campaign any actual Rally 2 or 3 cars here, let alone any older Rally 1 (pre-hybrid factory cars) rides here. There are even very few true, full Rally 4 spec cars in our fields here, sadly.
@brycea0225 yeah but the focus is like the fiesta just fwd. Just the R5 group the fiesta are awd. And think the different between the WRC and the R5, are not just the different HP, but the WRC has the central differential, in the R5 just front and rear different, in the center there's just a solid trasmission.
