Visakha
In Part 8 of our Visakha series, the Buddha explains the different types of Uposatha observations.
Wat San Fran is proud to present stories taken from the Jatakas, Dhammapada, and Buddhist history. These stories often use past rebirth stories (Jatakas) to reveal the connection between past and present, and illustrate the relationship between cause and effect.
Check out the playlist #AnimatedBuddhistStories by Watsanfran to explore the complete series.

🎙My humble obeisance to Arahants, the noble ones. While listening about their observance of Uposatha, really for a moment the defilements of mind were abandoned. Absolute detachment with the worldly possessions not out of suppression but out of pure understanding that how they can become a hurdle on the path of enlightenment is extremely practical. Minimalism and simplicity brings us so much near to the truth. Clouding of the cosmic intelligence by the consumption of intoxicants is the eye opener. 🙏✨ My sincere gratitude for your incredible work and all the pointers highlighted by the Arahants on the path of enlightenment in this story 📩

Hope you're doing well! I recently checked out your newsletter and saw this awesome animated photo on page 3 featuring Angulimala and a serene monk holding a food bowl. It really caught my eye! I was wondering if there's any chance you could share that image with me? I think it would be great for personal reference. Your newsletter always has such cool stuff, and this one was a standout. No rush at all, but if it's possible, just let me know how I can get my hands on that pic. Thanks a million, and looking forward to hearing from you!

Arahants are free from the cycle of rebirth right meaning that the soft bedding leading to more sleep doesn't matter as no rebirths are gonna happen right Or do they have to actively refrain till their death as till that time the may create dezires cause of this stuff that kind of contradicts the notion of arahant a person who became free from all desires and therefore suffering as the mind won't go in that direction or is there still a chance for arahants to develop desires when they are in this world Im hoping you see and clarify this as it is bothering me quite a bit

@@atrudokht I know religious groups are not a monolith, lol and I'm sure there must have been a jain committing murder at some point in history, or cheating on his wife. It's just that no major religion encourages being cruel to some beings but not others, and if they do they don't phrase it that wag.
@RenukaJayawardhana
@RenukaJayawardhana 7 дней назад
I think they are not referring to the Jains, in general Lord Buddha must have meant people who practice good when near teachers, and when out of boundaries from teachers sin, Lod Buddha's path means whether a teacher is present or not, do not sin, be good. Because Lord Buddha said to followers, to continue to give offerings to their previous teachers as well

Seeing people dance makes get attracted or cravings towards them (helping them to create karma and extending their samsaric life), when actually the body is filthy, though whatever we call as pure( food, water) and input to the body, the output from body, sweat, saliva, vomit, blood, faeces, urine everything is distinguishing, there is not a grain in the body to attach to as called valuable, that is the reality (beautiful fine skin, wrinkles, teeth decay as such)

@@study-su1gc Let me explain, our mind in its natural state is happy, we impurify it, when we mentally love someone, our mind is at sorrow, if we have to distance from them for studies, or if they die. if I have an enemy, I do not like to be around that person, mind is sad. this is not only true with persons but also things, a young kid really loves toys, separation from toys bring sorrow., a young girl child may really hate guns bringing guns close to her brings her sorrow, the moment we deattach from this cravings and repulsions the mind comes to its natural state of happiness
@study-su1gc
@study-su1gc 11 месяцев назад
Umm so an arahant recognises that other people have greed and dezire and therefore if we take their belongings we create suffering and karmic debt so lets say we say something harmful to an arahant is that gonna create karmic debt or not as an arahant is free from defilements and suffering so like our intentions matter here while we are saying something but not when stealing as then only others suffering matters,or it is both our intention and suffering caused to others????
@RenukaJayawardhana
@RenukaJayawardhana 7 дней назад
if we take something that does not belong to us, it is a sin, the arahants will not be offended, but still, the act of stealing will deliver us bad karma. similarly, if we do harm to any being it is sin, the arahants will not be offended, but still, the act of harming will deliver us bad karma.
