Humans are connected to nature. There's a reason in cities, cooped up in houses, or in general being not in an area where you can access the outside, can lead to greater levels of depression. We need to hear the birds, feel the wind, and walk amongst the trees. Some people use it to clear their minds even. That said, it doesn't mean every forest is safe to walk in, as theres a chance your mind might just be cleared from your skull.
Original Story: Forest Awaken

Being from up here in Massachusetts the stories from up here hit hard because you hear of eerie myths and stuff like this every now and then. This was one of my favorite stories I’ve heard of yours so far. This is gold.

So I grew up in Taunton, inside the Bridgewater Triangle, and also in Norton for a while, a short hike away from the Hockomock and about a five minute walk from King Phillip's Cave. I'm not the paranormal type and I never saw anything all that weird but having spent several nights in the woods and swamps, I can 100% see where these folktale stories come from. It's very easy to develop a sense of paranoia while you're out there, especially if you're alone. Trees groaning and animals moving through the woods seem a hell of a lot more sinister when you're in the middle of nowhere in the night. Nothing is coming to save you if something does go wrong. There's also a lot of history to Massachusetts, and it's mostly bloody and unpleasant. King Phillip's War was the bloodiest war per capita in the history of America, and there are indigenous burial grounds and holy sites everywhere. The woods and swamps have seen bloodshed, suffering, and cruelty like few other places in the country, and while I might not be the paranormal type, it's easy to imagine sometimes that all that strife might leave... imprints. Also Raynham is prounounced like "Rain-ahm", not "ray-ham".It's not the weirdest pronunciation we have either, the town Worcester is pronounced "wiss-ter", or "wiss-tah" if you want to play up your Boston accent.

I know im late but I just discovered this channel. I basically live in the freetown state forrest and drive through there around copicut reservoir often, theres nothing scary in those woods at night lol. Just drunk teenagers and rusted rams and jeeps blasting through mud puddles. Its not even a big forrest and borders one of the most densely populated cities in the state lol.

I have hiked through Freetown Forest at about 1am. I don't believe the stories and was with my gf of the time and my other friend. My gf at the time was terrified but I knew it was just because we were in the woods at night and she thought there were cults in there. After hiking about 4miles in on the trails she was so freaked out that we were forced to turn back. When we got to the car again she told me she had seen someone in a white hood in the forest. I still to this day don't believe her and never saw someone or felt being watched. I still think it was just the fear of being in the woods at night. The biggest reason I didn't believe her was because she never spoke up and told us she didn't see it until the way back so it wasn't the reason she wanted to turn around. To this day it was just a creepy walk in the woods at 1am but nothing more. I'd like to do it again and go further!

This was basically a new age telling of Ichabod Crane in Sleepy Hollow, the way the author used descriptive language and insinuations. The way the narrative character reassures themselves by natural occurrences dismissively. The way it’s so New England lol.

So the dude has a revolver, knows how to use it (despite the idiotic "warning shot" he took which is a bad call in 99.999% of circumstances), has the awareness to check his round count before a looming engagement, knows that he has an spent chamber, has extra ammo, knows how many additional rounds are in his pocket, but then DECIDES NOT TO TOP OFF THE CYLINDER? I'm sorry, that's just bad technique man. There's a reason that basically everyone in the world ditched their revolvers in favor of magazine fed semi-auto pistols. In fact, there are several. Capacity, reload speed, controllability, reliability, and most guns in most cases will indicate that they're empty in some way. But in all, capacity and reload speed substantially favor semi-auto pistols. But hey, at least he had SOME sort of gun...

You can REALLY tell that the person who wrote this knows nothing of the North East. Even in the supremely rural areas, they don't talk like country bumbkins, and there is only one species of rattle snake in the North East, but in all of my time hiking around there I never came across one (to the point of the idea of there being a snake pit being comical to me).

Great work with the narration and sound effects. The main character seems to have experience hiking and has the smarts to bring a gun and extra batteries for his flashlight but not fully charge his phone nor bring a compass or a physical map? He also walks for hours and doesn't turn around until its starting to get dark. I just feel the main character didn't make sense. Good story but they should have made the main character more believable.
