The Forgotten Hot Hatch, HSV may have established itself via modified Holden V8s. The Approach HSV took with the VXR was in the right direction.
It puts out a respectable 237 HP which was on the top end for its class and it has also become a Holden Classic but how does it stack up 15 years later?

The only Holden on this car are the badges..Opel Astra H OPC,and the best color for this car is Arden Blue..

Fun fact only 412 HSV VXRs were imported to Australia not including the nurb edition. Nearly half of the VXRs have been wrote off!

These are really popular over here in the UK sold as a Vauxhall Astra VXR , very popular among car enthusiasts here but i still see more Ford Focus STs around

Yep, the forgotten pocket rocket. extremely quick little beast, only downfall is that it is a bit limited for headroom for taller drivers.

HSV haven't done anything to the suspension tbf, it's all designed and built by Opel in Belgium. Sold as the Astra OPC/VXR in the rest of the world, and probably the cheapest, most common hot hatch to see apart from the mk7 Fiesta ST. Not very quick standard (pretty gutless actually) but they go well when tuned to 300hp before needing forged rods, and with pistons, wedged block etc people over here have had 800hp out of them.

The VXR had IDS taken out of it to save weight. That’s all HSV did.

@@DeathByPancake7 no it didn't. IDS is a factory option when getting the car new. My Zafira VXR has IDS suspension. Most get it deleted and coded out with tech2 as it cost £250 per corner to replace. At that price you might aswel go aftermarket and sell the remaining ids struts to cover the cost.

I owned one of these new back in 09 for a couple of years. Scared the fq out of me each time I drove it. Power was awesome but serious traction issues. It would slip at any speed under power even with its 19" 235s

The wheels are made by Ronal. They arent an additional extra from HSV. Every vxr came with either Ronals or Snowflakes in 19s. The body kit is a standard vxr kit. Nice video but i think before you review cars you should do a little bit of research first.

The dose isn't normal for these cars, the factory fit diverter valve is rubbish and fails easily causing the dose.

It’s actually an Opel which was the original company that General Motors owned. Vauxhall in uk Holden over there most built in Belgium 🇧🇪

That cars going to be down on power, that diverter valve is leaking bad, or atleast a vac leak from somewhere.

Wrong, the recirculation valve on the turbo has more likely been blanked sending air back into to the turbine blades which gives it the fluttering noise

@@leebateman7135 well neither of us are wrong or right I'm assuming this is a factory diverter valve and the rubber on those perish causing them to flutter and hit boost cut. I've got a turbosmart on mine and it does flutter at lowish boost but it looks like this car is standard.

True, I was also assuming but they didnt show under the bonnet so will never know lol i got a forge on mine but took it off and fitted a blank, the sound irritates me some days so the forge is going back on

Guys HSV has done nothing to this car lol. I have the original version. Opel Astra OPC. There's not a single difference other than Changes to the badges

Astras...shit cars shit engines that went bang at random...timing belt at 40k or you risked 6000 dollars in engine damage...and holden didnt care they were selling bad products to the public...Also prone to overheating in our hot summers...

Timing belt at 60k. I thrashed mine 24-7. Didn’t service it either and it held up just fine, never really let me down.
