At ..48 yrs old I have recently discovered my Métis heritage..I had know idea…and recently I’m starting to learn where my family came from.. and I’m so intrigued..apparently my great great grandfather..fought alongside of Luis reil..and died for his cause…supporting the Métis nation.. Im currently learning more and more about my culture…long before Canada was even Canada …so cool..

@Raza Khan So is culture to you based entirely on bloodline and phenotype difference? Obviously, this is the culture these people grew up with.

You should be 🥺❤️ You’re lucky. 🤍😇 You the Aboriginals, in general, are the only people in Canada who are entitled to sing our home and native land. The others just act and pretend to be.

@Raza Khan You know nothing of us. Métis people are a distinct indigenous people; we have our own indigenous language called Michif; our elders were placed in residential schools and we fought in our own revolution against the English. Our culture is rich and DISTINCT; and specifically a mix of french Voyager men and ojibwe/cree women NOT just a random mix of indigenous here and a splash of this and that European. Don't speak of our culture if you know nothing of it, infact, why not just watch the video?

Great video. Proud of being Métis, from Fort Chip with roots in red river, Fort chip being the first settlement in Alberta. There is no Métis homeland in BC, buts it’s worth looking at the Métis who came and worked for the HBC in Fort Vancouver in the Columbia department of the HBC. It seems that the Métis in BC were part of the formation of Chinook Wawa, the west coast trade language of the time. Worth looking into whether these can be considered a Métis language historically from British Columbia. Thoughts?

But being a legit mestizo, do these white “Métis” appear ridiculous to you? Because you can then easily tell by their appearance approximately how little a percentage Native American ancestry they truly have. And Being several centuries removed from any indigenous ancestor, and crucially even from any culture that is distinct from the white French Canadians....
