0:53 Quick correction here, Way of the Dogg isn't actually on Xbox One or Series X, as far as I can tell. Just the 360. So for those still interested in this, you'd better pick it up before July. Also, good video man.
I'm surprised that anyone took the effort to review this game, and why do I say that? well because I worked on it! One of the earliest unity games on the 360 and PS3 and it suffered massively from the engine being broken for large parts of the development.
Just played through and beat it and I actually really enjoyed it. Only major critique is a bunch of FPS drops in certain fights, seems pretty important to have a stable frame rate in a rhythm game lol.
I remember the game as far as the title, but never played it. I feel like developers were trying to make games based on rappers, I mean you had the Def Jam series, the 2 50 cent games and ....this game. Do you remember the Wu Tang game for the playstation? I never played that one either, but it seems so bootleg, and we love those, right? haha!
Yeah, I remember the Wu-Tang game but never got around to playing it either. I heard good things about it back then. It was actually a reskinned version of another game called Thrill Kill that was too graphic to be released. You can find the rom online though. I also like Wu-Tang, so I need to go and play it already.
@@DadDude See, that's hilarious nowadays "Too Graphic?" haha! But I did not know that. I thought the Wu Tang game was trying to be like another mortal kombat with the whole fatalities and all. I think those are automatic for each character from what I could tell from a few videos I've seen. Yes, Wu Tang was one of a kind, very unique, combining beats with martial arts themes and samples.
I've not played it, but it'd give it a 420 simply based on your recommendation lol I looooove videos like this where you consider the basic idea "Is it that bad?" What I've found is that so many quickly criticize games to extremes and are seemingly reluctant to consider their merits. Good on you for doing so :)
Haha thanks so much man. Yeah, there's a lot of games out there that get mediocre or bad reviews, but are still worth checking out. I always enjoy finding them, too.
I remember a radio dj would chime in whenever they would play a censored Snoop song to fill in the silence. Smoke [meat] everyday! I wonder what kind of twist happens in the game, does Martha Stewart join to help the player or something?
I just want to put this out there even though this video is a little old, just cause I thought it was funny. AJ isnt literally Snoops nephew in the game, Snoop just calls people nephew.
When you showed the logo, I remembered seeing this pop up while browsing XBL Arcade on the X360. I also figured it was going to be a horrible fighting game, so I passed. Now that I know what it is...I pass.
According to Giant Bomb's page on Snoop Dogg, he was also in a game called 'Fear & Respect' and... Tekken Tag 2?! Oh, snap, I forgot about that one - he IS in that, but in a special stage, where he sits on a throne or something in the background of a club. Not playable or anything. Missed opportunity, lol. Take a look: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Qg-jnLTC_NE.html Man, I legitimately forgot about this one. I guess I forgot about a bunch of early XBLA/PSN download-only titles, to be honest... and I'm sure the ones _I remember_ are super obscurities to other people in kind. Does anyone remember Crash Commando on PS3? This awesome sidescrolling, like, team v team class-based run-and-gun shooter with vehicles, so Battlefield by way of Contra, basically? Yeah, I bet the ol' digital graveyards for the XBLA and PSN (well, I understand some of these are still available for Xbox consoles... heck, I still play World of Keflings on my Series X every once in awhile) is loaded with interesting obscurities that deserve a proper evaluation these days. Hope the emulator community can crack a bunch of 'em before they're gone for good. Interesting vid, and fun lil' review. Pretty gross how this was so mis-analyzed by reviewers and, um, general morons back in the day. I wonder if Zen Studios' KickBeat was also shredded by people who just didn't care to learn about what it was trying to do? I know the general disinterest from coverage outlets for rhythm fighters seems to persist because 'God of Rock' came out JUST THIS APRIL and hardly got covered at all....
Wow, thanks for the great comment. So much stuff I didn't know about. It looks like Crash Commando is still available on the PS3 store. I might have to pick it up. Do you know if it has offline multiplayer? I wishlisted God of Rock and might check out World of Keflings, too. The emulation scene has definitely been at work archiving these digital-only games already. I got the delisted PS3 Tetris game that way lol. Might do a video of digital games that are still worth picking up for PS3/360 one of these days.
@@DadDude Now, it's been quite a while since I've played Crash Commando, so take what I have to say with a grain of salt, but I don't _believe_ it has local multiplayer. It's probably just bots at this point since I can't imagine any MP servers still up. It's a real shame, as it's a lot like Supersonic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars - people ignored it but it's a really good design, and while SSRPBC got a second chance when it was reborn as Rocket League, THEN people found it and it took off. Crash Commando deserved that second chance and never got it. At any rate, good luck if you go looking for XBLA/PSN games for a future video. I went and looked it up on RU-vid, and thank GOD 'bframe' has those videos - there's a TON to go through and try to hunt down now, lol.
