The Forgotten Towns of Route 66 in New Mexico

I’m born and raised in Albuquerque, been here 30+ years and I had no idea the Tinkertown Museum existed. Thanks for teaching me something about my city lol.

I'm just imagining a horror movie where everything in Tinkertown comes to life.

Over the last 5 days I've learned that Jacob and I have very similar tastes in food. "Whatcha get?" "MEAT."

Two years ago we went over that musical highway and we had to drive over it more then two times! And the more you do it the better it sounds👍😊

Tucumcari Tonite! Tucumcari has the best hotels, people, and the BEST restaurant ever.

Thanks! I did Route 66 in 1995... pre internet. We had so much fun start to finish. Found ourselves on a few dirt roads and dead ends, and even a big steer in our path at one point. Chicago to LA, had to drive East first. Sent postcards to friends and family, met some characters at various post offices. We got our kicks!

In my 200 square ft city apartment. All of that open space is zoinking my head. Groovy America.

Remember Tucumcari NM from when I was a kid on our road trips!!!Dad took us thru here on this route to our camp cabin in Colorado.We would be traveling in the old Packard or Rambler.

I want to go to The Tinker Town Museum. It looks amazing!

That last part was so random and hilarious. I actually busted out laughing at the office. LOL

I love raw reality, I don’t even need an acid trip.

You caught the end of the musical highway, the "...from sea to shining sea" part technically. You should have pulled a U-turn and tried it again!

Wife and i drove across country from the Shenandoah valley VA to Green Valley AZ. We stopped in tucamari NM to spend the night. Had the best breakfast at kix on 66.

I lived in Stanley and Morairty New Mexico when I was a kid. The route 66 was the only means of travel..no interstate then. New Mexico has a magic that draws you to it !

Tucumcari was in a song by Little Feat called 'Willin'.... I always wondered where that was! I have crossed over route 66 in my travels, but never rode the whole thing. I hope you guys have an amazing time! Stop at the Cadillac Ranch when you get to Texas! Amarillo! You two have to eat at the Big Texan!!!! Love you guys!

I was gonna say I hope you guys filmed more of the neon signs lit up at night. Thats really when Route 66 becomes pure magic is when those things light up. Tinkertown was more awesome than I thought it would be. Can you imagine if that place was the setting for a Night at the Museum movie and all those characters came to life at night?

Family used to own the ARUBA Motel Best Western years ago in Tucumcari. Was a rental horse stable behind it with a Cowboy called Homer who ran it. Also climbed Tucumcari Mountain and found a huge Dinosaur footprint in the rocks. Did know until I placed my hand on it and was hard to spot and sure it is still there. If you come up the back of the small mountain there is initials from 1912 inscribed on a small rock ? Do not remember the initials must have been early seventies when I lived there. As a boy used to have a friend that parents owned the Blue Swallow Motel.

I grew up in Bosque Farms New Mexico and I traveled Route 66 in the 50s and 60s as a boy, this thing is probably going to be back bring back memories it might make me even cry I don't know yet but I'm at 3 seconds and here goes

I way 10 in 1964 and my dad was re-stationed to California (Army brat). We drove 66 to get there. I still remember all the neon and road side attractions. Brought back memories. Well worth a tee-shirt.
