true, though transported criminals by NO means had it easy, hardly anything like seen in this story. Moll's case would have been very, very exceptional. The average 'criminal' transported in that era to the American colonies was a young man or woman, often alone and forced to work off an indenture , typically seven years...IF they managed to do that...if they lived long enough, their master was supposed to give them enough resources to start off on their own....though many times that did not happen, by way of being cheated. Recourse was not much for former indentured servants. The mortality rate was very high and poverty was rife even among those who sucessfully worked it off and were released.

Young people? How young? I watched this on PBS, too, and I'm not at all sure it would be appropriate for "young people".
