its been brought to my attention the front end is not stock! its a F6/Pursuit front end, original ute came with a XR8 front end.. was not told when was given the car to review and honestly never noticed the difference but just want to clear that up guys~! hope you enjoyed it other wise :)
Still. Damn nice Aussie. Here’s one from the states that would have been amazing here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1l5LTnPHNXY.html
Thanks to the traitors especially labour and liberal. They built great cars here , ive got holdens and old Chryslers. Love the fords to. Its a disgrace they're all gone.
Australia is sadly going down the gurgler with production we sadly no longer have Holden 😔 we hopefully have to take good care of our last Holden’s and fords
dude im from Sydney bought one over the phone it was in perth drove it back with a mate across the nullaboor fkn insane car is all I can say as per the pic that's her on the trip
SPEARSNATOR REEFA that’s awesome m8! I’ve done that run before for a skyline I used to own was in Sydney 😆 drove her back to Perth lol! I think the ute would have been the better drive for sure, great cruiser
Murat Harman I can completely agree! Felt way more powerful! I’ve also heard you can easily get near double the kW from just a tune! 😳 thanks for the watch!
@@RossReviewsau yep... FPV came out with 2 versions... the BOSS 335 (GT) and BOSS 315 (GS) but they are essentially the same motor with different tunes. Stock 315's had about 5psi boost while the 335's got 8psi but both were non-intercooled. Custom tune will get them over 420kW at the engine.
Ive got a gs aswell its a sedan auto i put a full exhaust system on it pulled 328rwkws with a stock tune i think Ford numbers are very understated then after a flashtune it made 405rwkws run 11.6 on 20s aswell
Ross, loved the review, even if I'm a dyed in the wool Holden man! All you need now is some lovely person to lend you a gtho and an early monaro gts just to see where all this started from! Great work fella!
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wFTZunJ4BMk.html there is a boss 351 version that actually makes 404kw from factory. Makes more power then both the LSA and the LS3.
The only thing I will pick you up on is FPV didn't close. FPV was made by ProDrive. The v8 supercar manufacturer. ProDrive bought the company tickford that started the XR thing. FPV have just changed their name to tickford. They do up mustangs similar to rouch and Shelby. Great vid though. I have a FPV gt 315 2010 with the 5.4 litre boss.
yeh i guess you're actually right i see some tickford editions popping up again around the place.. cheers i should of added that in. glad you enjoyed the vid love the FPV GT!
@@TheNitroRaptor both amazing cars! i reckon would have sold tons in the states! utes are my fav tho.. light in the back so they love to light up the rears!
And Dodge with their Charger pick up truck. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BZoCvIYhinM.html. Some aftermarket company needs to make a pickup conversion kit for the S197 and S550 Mustangs and the 5th and 6th gen Camaros.
Mate has an old one ,boss 260. Thing never plays up ,will run forever. Good looking car to. Holden and ford made great cars apart from their alloytec engines in the later holdens.
@@RossReviewsau You do good reviews mate . Very honest I've still got an old Aussie Mopar. 77 regal se . That's been one hell of a good car. 26 years has never let me down. Built a 360 for it and goes great. My ss by ute is a good car to but the old carby cars are great fun. No computers, traction control just 450 HP going wild. Love your videos mate , great work.
The ford V8 power numbers are underated in the supercharged cars. The very last Sprint model actually makes closer to 360kw to the rear wheels! (Dyno proven) The reason for all the Ford badges is its a GS model or the same as the old XR8 and was released by Ford as a sports model. FPV is a tunning arm hence the lack od ford badges. :) Love the vids keep them coming :)
Hell YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! God I miss that we made these great vehicles. At least we still have them to admire. It actually made MUCH MUCH MORE MATE on what they call overboost. Some report 400+ KW. And when you start playing with them the sky is the limit. Great video mate. I have a Holden HQ 1974 Sandman with a 5.0 Ltr V8. No where as powerful but I love it. We have lost that Holden Vs Ford era. Thanks for doing videos on these iconic cars. Bloody criminal that FPV is gone but it dies along with our Aussie cars. Long Live Ford Aussie Utes. And Holden.
couldn't agree with you more m8!!!! such a shame there gone but im trying to make it my mission to get as many great aussie cars on the channel as i can! hoping to keep a bit of the aussie muscle car history alive for the future youths! and on that point of the KW i really did think it had to be more than what they advertised because this ute was down right terrifying when you put your foot down! lol felt like a lot more power than the LS3 maloo i reviewed
Now we have fords latest performance ute a 4 cylinder turbo diesel they slapped a raptor name on it, what a joke,. Ford lost the plot with performance Ute's in Australia.
@@RossReviewsau Oh and Ford charge $75,000 for it WTF !!!! even VW who banged on about how good their 4Cyl Biturbo diesel Amarok was and you didn't need a V6 eventually brought out a decent V6 Diesel for the Amarok, I dont see any 4Cyl on the road nowadays, they are all V6 so what does that say the consumer wants, NOT a 4Cyl that's for sure, Ford has fallen into the same trap because the car is built in Thailand, and the 2.0L BiT was suited to their market not ours, rumours are the replacement model is touted to have the 4Cyl 2.0 and a V6 twin Turbo Diesel option
Mitch James thanks m8 means a lot you’ve been following the channel! Trying my best to only bring fun and different cars on the channel.. mighty car mods is awesome and what better way to represent the badass power in this FPV 🤣
I got one but it's a SSV Holden Ute, back in the days I would given it this bloke, but hey we are both suffering so time to support each other, as a Holden there nothing that came close or over took and that was a Aussie bread falcon with the Barra motor, that's tops guys
Another awesome review Ross keep up the good work. By the way where from Canada are you originally from? I am originally from Australia but I live in Toronto now the last 10 years. Cheers
thanks m8! im from Perth Ontario! about 4hrs north of Toronto.. went from perth to perth lol glad your enjoying the channel 🙌 ps hope your staying warm lol just had another 40degree day here
Well if the FPV that your driving has less power and the Holden ute that you said had 500hp and the FPV somehow will go all over the place what does that say? Lol That Holden chassis is better and can handle power better. If you can put your foot down in a 500hp Holden ute and can't in a FPV ute then it's the chassis or the tuning of the chassis. But w.e at the end of it all it's not ford vs Holden anymore its us vs electric now! Lol
GS was the cheapest FPV V8, right down to XR6 base trim. Basically an XR8 with GS badges - even the stereo was fleet and it was under braked too. They weren't very popular in the big scheme of things and were discontinued and the XR8 badge was returned in later models. The car you were driving had the wrong front grill and wheels for a GS, had the stripes removed and obviously an aftermarket exhaust. Probably been tuned too. They were overpriced new for what you got, but if they added any more kit then the GT was going to look overpriced. I looked at one once, but for a base XR6 spec car with a V8, some old style GT wheels and stripes, they were overpriced in my opinion. They didn't sell that well and the last took quite a while for dealers to get rid of.
Alex Kidd this car drove mint.. the only thing I could point out that needed fixing was the grill was a little bit loose on one side you can see it at the begging of the vid.. but other than that from my time with it I couldn’t find any other faults and the car drove great! So much power in this ute!🤣🤘 had to be carful to keep it straight😅
I would like to submit that the greatest Aussie ute is in fact the XH XR6 Falcon Utes! Known more commonly as the EL and EF falcons. They started the double headlight era and also kicked of the amazing legacy of the atmo barra. Back then the 6 was faster than the 8s and handled better as well. Looked very tough.....My personal favorite😉
It's a great car no doubt but U r seriously wrong. In fact way off. The most important and most Australian ute EVER is the Holden FJ ute. Full Australian car and a true legend.
@@RossReviewsau I disagree. As far as engineering, design and production as well as it's roll in Australia's workforce at that time it stands miles ahead to a Ford that was mainly engineered overseas and far from a true Australian car/ute. This goes for the modern day Holden's as well. I certainly appreciate a American coming to live here and have a huge interest in our car's. U r American right? U MUST understand there heritage and what they mean to us. To put the GTHO phase 3 3rd on your list compared to the HSV Holden 1st is a case in point. The HO won Bathurst placing 1 and 2 with Allan Moffat and will ALWAYS carry more history, look's and love in the car community. Mate I love your work don't take this the wrong way but it would seem U don't understand us.
@@RossReviewsau mate U also put a 6 cylinder turbo Ford😀 ahead of a XU1. The XU1 won Bathurst with Peter Brock. A absolute classic car. U can throw in the HQ Monaro as well. It's not about power. If U said top 10 powered car's ok but mate U said top 10 Aussie car's. Those 2 mentioned as well as the FJ would certainly be in there.
Great review Ross, and the panel were blown away with your having made note of the most practical feature of this vehicle ... the stubby holders on the tailgate, and the liner to "sleep it off". That excitable rear end was intentional on FPV's part, as it was designed to encourage the owner to weigh the back end down with slabs, ensuring maximum utilisation of all features. The panel have also noted your use of correct terminology : impressive. One thing though mate ..... 0:50 You were standing behind the ute, and not "in front of" it. I had to get ya. By the way, those "GS"emblems go back to the XB falcon of 1974 or thereabouts.
Tony Buhagiar ha classic glad you enjoyed that bit! And dame smart addition with the engineers making the back light so you can load it up with crates🍺 to weigh it down! 🤣 should have mentioned that..
Correct, because of the leaf spring rear end in the ford it has a larger pay load then the holdens. Downside is the ford doesn't handle as well as the holden with its irs rear end
@@trikdoutvl ..... Yep! : just ask Eric Bana. People couldn't believe that he took a leaf-sprung XB coupe into Targa Tasmania, with the end result being one written off classic. Wealth does not offer immunity from being a dumb-arse.
I remember seeing eric banner was car enthusiast n he had the xb. Didnt know he crashed it tho. Ive got a xr6 turbo with a bit of work done. Fries the tires well but doesn't really do anything else lol
ford is famous for understating their V8s.. this def felt like more to me.. tho the FPV 310 Barra is one hell of a weapon!! they are built up straight out the box ready for 1000 hp.. (GS doesn't get much love from FPV)
unfortunately i'm not sure this was a dealer car so i didn't get much info on it.. possibly was not as it had aftermarket wheels and the front bumper was different
GSs (and the Pursuit Rspec and Pursuit Final, as they were based on GS Ute) didnt get Brembos in the MY10 and MK II range (not even optional). The Limited edition MK I GSs could option the 4/1 brembo's as per GT though
iSTELTHYi cheers for the info.. seems crazy you could have optioned them..😅 but to be honest I didn’t really notice the breaks lagging much, but again wasn’t on them that hard..
Ford USA should offer the Barra 6 as a crate engine as soon as it turns 21 years old like Nissan USA did with their RB26. Any engine that is 21 years old or older is exempt from EPA certifications. NHTSA says 25 and EPA says 21.
Beast60 it does.. but to be honest there is something more Aussie I feel about a V8😅🤷♂️ I love the F6s tho😍🔥 But these are beasts in there own right.. Loud and tire shredders 🤣
Beast60 your kidding right. Ive had both xr6t ute and still have a gs ute. Stock for stock xr is slower even when you tune them both its not till you start replacing parts on the xr does it start to gain ground on the gs the down side to the gs is its not intercooled so it heat soaks like a bitch on a hot day
Sorry mate, I've ran my stock auto 335 gtp on 20's and my brothers stock auto 310 f6 on 19's the same night and my gtp was 5 tenths quicker down the track 12.3 to a 12.8
