You're not alone in top tier feeling empty. It's such a strange sensation to play like 5 matches at 11.0, then hop down to 3.7 or something. At top tier no-one talks, everyone leaves after 1 death, people don't help teammates, everyone sits in camping spots, and revenge kills are just the norm. Then you go to even like 6.7 and people are talking in chat, people will bring meme tanks just for fun, maps feel like reasonable sizes, no one country just stomps everything. It feels like top tier is a different game that is still in beta. All of the features work, but aren't finished or something. Helis are interesting additions, but they give no real way to counter them effectively. prototype vehicles are cool, but they don't have a br high enough for them to go in. I wish Gaijin would take a full season, not add any new vehicles, and just do a full revamp of all of the main issues. Server issues, balancing issues, changing imbalanced maps, fixing exploits, and reconsidering the BR system. Hell they could open the dev server and have weekly changes that people could test and give feedback on. I'm almost tempted to start some kind of community driven feedback thing where i just enter games and try to get people to answer what they think are the biggest issues, take a tally, and submit a backed response. If anyone who reads this thinks that might work, let me know. I might try that when school isn't so homework heavy.

Maybe if Russia wasn't OP with their fake performing vehicles (We all see now how their equipment really performs), the maps were a size appropriate for the vehicles at top tier, and people didn't leave after 1 death then that might help out with the game at the top? To me top tier is not fun at all right now either.

My problem with top tier in War Thunder is that you have vehicles that are more mobile and capable then they have ever been and yet the matches are stagnant. Everyone is hiding behind their favorite rock watching their favorite two pixels and that it is it. In real life movement is life but in War Thunder movement is death so everyone sits. I also prefer bigger matches and, in my experience at least, I get those awful 6v6 fights CONSTANTLY at top tier - and it just exacerbates the previous stagnation.

Is TUSK an objective disadvantage in terms of the current gameplay meta? Yes. Does it look cool? Yes. Would I equip it for that reason and that reason alone? Also yes.

Honestly, The turret shouldn’t be able to move when reloading, if you only have a gunner and a driver. Who’s moving the turret while loading the shell??

Not gonna lie, with all these rounds being available for tanks, and yet you only take certain rounds for those niche circumstances, and use the best the majority of the time, I'd love to see Enduring Confrontation for tanks developed to add more variety in round choice. Granted I know the problems that would cause and if it really has a place, but it would be a nice little game mode offered once in a while to maybe see if the concept works

I personally like top tier, but I do completely acknowledge it's issues and that it's a complete fustercluck. I just like the chaos I guess. Or maybe I'm too happy to be driving an Abrams to notice that I'm dying on the inside. Who knows.

Love watching these videos, especially the USA tech tree ones since I main it but a lucky match is 1 kill without dying but I dabbled in Germany and it’s extremely easy with the tigers and panthers. Even got a super pershing kill with a stug 3.

Well its a package that was meant for urban fighting so it would seem silly in the video game but probably saved a lot of lives in real life. Especially the gunners perch.

As a spectator (I don't play) top tier is a bit dull. Mostly because the tanks are so similar, as you said.

can you do a guide on how to fly properly? when to use flaps, keys that you use to loop while looking behind at the battlefield, basic stuff like that which I dont know. I love your prop planes videos, like yak 9k, swedish thing, p47, xp50, f4f, f6f.. you fly insanely well and I keep rewatching them.

Bawz not wrong, top tier is kinda brain dead. you go to game and basicly who sees first wins. thats why i love low tier where the armour actualy matters. i love taking tank wich isnt good and have hard time to penetrate anyone, it gives me more reason to be creative with kills and you cant just push and shoot. I do wish top tier would be more like low tier, i love the tanks and i still enjoy it but not as much as lower tier.

my overall opinion on the tusk package is that it's sort of meh. I did save me like 10 times from stock Russian tanks, tunguskas and Leo's and you can somewhat side scrape bmp2ma with the Era package and the additional .50 is useful, however it makes the Abrams much more heavy. really depends overall on personal preference. would be nice if It had more ke protection to make it actually worth while imo

Top tier, ah yeah. People clamor for the next, latest, shiny, up to date tank/aircraft. What do they do then? They discover what you stated in this video, it's a push button war. Flip a coin to see if you got knocked out by tank from 3 klicks away, or the helicopter you can hear but not see. Then they go play another game or watch some mind numbing crap on the social sites. The reason why top tier is frustrating is because those of us who don't have top-tier premiums, premium accounts, etc. have to slowly grind out each component in a tier where everyone leaves after 1 death. And squadron tanks like the M1A1 AIM start with HEAT-FS as a stock round, rather than APFSDS, which just blows my mind.

The ERA on this should have 120mm of kinetic protection not 30mm x)

In real life the A2 is so much nicer than the A1. The heater worked for one. And all the new toys made the A2 look like a Tesla to the A1's 1994 Tercel.

Top tiers not really for me, as you say it doesn’t really have character. 5-6 Br can be so fun/funny people having a good time. 7-8 br has some really cool vehicles, jets and helis but still reserves some of that fun. Beyond that, small matches and expensive tanks. Some of the most satisfying kills are when you suspension wobble a firefly’s barrel to get the depression or get the right angle to take multiple hits in a heavy.

i been playing WT from the beginning, the top tier creep beat me off rather fast. I keep coming back down to tank rank 3 and 4 and been enjoying it for years. To me top tier is just the occasional experience, the fun is at low tiers. I came to WT for the ww2 airplane, it was absolutely awesome, top tier jets spamming air to air missiles just dont make it for me.

This tank is such a joke. After removing TUSK it's basically just an M1A2. Gaijin in their infinite wisdom believed leaving the armor values the same was logical when the SEP package is literally an armor upgrade. Yet, the LFP composite on the chest is literally garbage. Identical values to a fucking M1 Abrams. There is NO REASON to buy this tank.

This may sound weird, and may just be my personal opinion but I actually find top tier arcade to be more fun than top tier realistic due to the more chaotic play style, mind you I primarily play arcade (around 14.3k matches) as well but have a good amount (just a little under 1k)of matches in realistic largely in top tier, maybe try it out if you want!

the matches where you end up in the spawn 2 minutes into the match are not fun to play in either. doesnt matter whether you are the one getting stomped or doing the stomping

Duuuude youre so right about top tier being kinda boring, 95% of the players just use the best premium pack thermal boi and the only reliable strat is camp and wait, kinda trash tbh, like hooow abouut some raaaaange atleast...., i also love when a ground attack jet like an su25 dominates every other fighter like wtf?

the highest tier i played is 7.3 with my brother, and it was fun, just some annoyances like late into higher teir matches with russia you tend to get bombed by a Pe-8 4-8km into the sky, but its more fun then 2.7-ish br because t34 whos front mantlet has a hidden 30mm plate inside it which eats shrapnel like buttered corn and sloped frontal armor so mostly only tds or swedish reserves can penetrate it :/ sturmtiger will be cool looking and disappointing though!

Nope I definitely agree with you about top tier. I love 8.3 but 8.0 and 8.7 are good as well. A lot of fun vehicles in those tiers. You get some of the benefits of top tier but not quite the same point and click experience.

You're not alone. I very rarely play anything higher than 6.0 - 7.0. When I do go higher, it's just to grind out / spade out a vehicle. Not sure why I even bother because I never play it again after it's spaded. I guess it's just my inner completionist nagging at me. But, yeah, point and click game play doesn't do it for me.

I noticed that every match I'm the weakest tank even if I move in rank so apparently until you get in the upper ranks the best thing you can do is track the tanks and help repair, it's the only way I've been a asset on the battlefield but it's so hard not to play😂

If gaijin added maps that were 8000m by 8000m for top tier only, I know hardware wise this is a challenge so this is a non-serious comment I know you've played it before but I would love to see the warrior being played, like 31k rp away from getting it so wanna know what it's like, I watched Turny's video on the warrior and it seemed decent but I wanna know your thoughts as of more recently.

I'm in the same boat, for me the game peaks at about 6.0 and then is rarely fun after about 8.0 There are some vehicles I can have a good game or 2 in at 8.7 but aircraft especially just before becomes unfun when everything you're facing is radar guided heat seeking proxy fuse

I've only experienced up to 9-10 br in Russia but played a bunch of other tress to about 6ish and I find myself in the place of I love the tanks but loathing the mode after a couple of battles, last time I played I just felt absolutely oppressed and fun policed by cas or helis from which I feel like I've no real ability to combat or avoid them since I primarily only know about them after I'm dead. I can't imagine drones have helped this aspect. I also find my most fond memories from top tier battles are when I actually get team mates who help out and communicate, I tend to make a point of following them after, going for godmodes, and getting into fun and intense duels and brawls with single enemies. I'm not sure what the solution would be, sometimes I hope for a ground only mode but I also have reservations if that would work, and I really wish map selection for differing brs was better, its frustrating getting tiny maps at top tier and agonizing to get huge maps from 7ish and down. I also wish there was more of a gap between the late ww2/early cold war vehicles and the vehicles from the 60's onwards because some uptiers are far more painful than others.

The bane of higher BRs is teammates disappearing within the first 5 minutes of a battle. Insanely frustrating to try to compete when it's 3 or 4 members against the enemy team.

The SEP mainly introduced the Force XXI System to the Abrams. It is a pretty cool system that allows you to see most friendly units (including the Chaplain's HMMWV careeining around at 300 mph, he had some sort of issue with his position reporting) and allowed text messaging to other units and the best of all SPOTREPS of enemy would instantly show up on everyone's screen. This allowed for grear situational awareness. Something that War Thunder cannot really model. Interestingly, the SEP had an APU added to the Bustle Rack and Air Conditioning because of the new electronics, does not look like this was added to the model here. Funny you mention the Engine going into 'Protected' mode, that used to drive us nuts. Went through 3 fires on that thing, a quite common occurrence. And it seems to me the turret traverse is a little too fast in WT.

I agree top tier has no character, just point and click it feels like. I personally enjoy 3.7, 5.3, and 7.3 for us, that's what I play when I want to have fun. Top tier I play only really for grinding.

I hear you Odd. I haven't been overly thrilled by top tier but I found that it can be fun to put some br 1 or 2 low tiers in my lineup to zip around and annoy the thin-skinned "modern" opponents.

8.0/8.3 is a really good BR imo. Not quite so point and click auto pen gameplay, but a little sprinkling of interesting stuff.
