I saw that movie in Vermont in a theater. I had no idea until now that it was really a rape film. I'm sure that the back story was out there, but I really did not realize what had happened. Brandon and Bertolucci should have been prosecuted. This is such a horrible, horrible story. One of extreme misogyny, to say the least. I'm so sorry that she was so horribly abused and had her life ruined by men pretty much from her conception.

Making a movie doesn't give anyone the right to plan and commit a violent crime, so they can film that violent act.

In short, they groomed her for a scene that was not in the script she had agreed to film, resulting in the filmed scene being a literal sexual assault. Brandon and Bertolucci, along with the complicit film crew who stood back and watched it happen, should have been prosecuted.

The young girl had no reason to lie. I believe this really happened to her. I think Marlon’s son doesn’t really know who his father was! I think that his father may have tried to make up or possibly tried to cover up for his egregious behavior. People go to prison for such violations or they are supposed to. I think it is easy to glamorize a parent because you don’t experience them in the same way that this young woman did. It has long been said that his father got around in the bedroom dept. On another note, Brad Pitt saying that he would have loved to play that role instead of Marlon was really telling of his mindset about women. He has daughters now. The oldest is just about the same age as that young actress was when she was violated. I wonder if he would be so keen on it if this happened to his own daughter?? I saw this film as a young woman myself. I went with my best friend. We were young and thought ‘oh wow, let’s go watch it if it’s erotic’. We both thought there was nothing erotic about it - it was vile. What would a beautiful young girl see in the ugly, self-centred Brando. And as for Bertolucci . . . Now, all these years later a friend of mine came out with a great comment (totally unrelated to this) “all it takes is two men with issues” (to make a woman feel she’s wrong). They took massive advantage of that girl and they should have been reported and prosecuted for this. A film is not for rich old men to play out their fantasies. No wonder I didn’t date older men!

Horrid movie producer who obviously was a myscogenist and was probably fancied the gloomy narcissist Marlon Brando. I had heard about this callous act from others who disliked MB after watching the Last Tango in Paris, which was enough indication that I hadnt missed out on anything by choosing to not view that movie. Legal action should have followed upon Schneiders revelation that she had given no consent for sexual intercourse for the whole duration of filming, in accordance with her movie contract. Im assuming there would have been such a clause - at least there needed to have been a clause as to body autonomy and extent of eg nudity, sensory engagement, body contact, body double etc
