However, they have to abide by International law which ALLOWS asylum seekers to come here in any way possible as the UK do not provide safe routes and asylum seekers MUST be on UK soil for their application to be processed. To simply not allow it would break International law and may breach some NATO regulation as well. We've been left out in the cold on the international stage enough as it is, I don't think being booted out of NATO would help the UK do you? If the UK really wanted to stop this they would simply set up a processing centre in Fance as the French have suggested. The traffickers would be put out of business overnight. Why are the British government paying the French to escort illegal immigrants to our waters? I thought this was to stop the boats at the French side. What you need to do is go out, with a boat. Largish, flying a Union Jack. Then at half way, go over and ask if they want to be rescued. They will see the flag, say yes. So load them up, take them to Calais.

Under maritime law if you rescued them in UK waters you would be obligated to take then to UK shores. If you took them in to French waters you could (and probably would) risk arrest for people trafficking
Why people waste their time waiting for them , to pick them up, wrapped them up in cotton wool , offer them money , food and a roof ? My wife and I took a cruise to New York one year. The ship was not allowed anywhere near New York but had to dock in the nearest town and wait until the US Border Authorities had come on board and interrogate each and every passenger on board. We had to have our eyes photographed and finger prints taken and numerous other checks carried out before we were granted Temporary permission to set foot in America. Why don't the authorities target the people that are supplying the boats. I would suspect that these boats have serial numbers or other identification marks, so it should be possible to identify who is supplying them.

Not alone France but Italy and Spain as well.. these south European countries keep passing them north until they eventually allow them escape over the border into France with pocket money and maps about how to get to the Channel Coast and the French say not their problem.
Just accept both governments are complicit and are facilitating this. There is obviously an agreement between the UK and French to allow this to happen.

Those who are quiet happy to let all these people (large majority are male) in have no solution to where these people are going to be housed. The more and more people that come over here, the more the strain on public services. None of these people are vetted, nobody knows what type of people they are, there is already a housing crisis in this country. Why is no one holding the French authorities to account as regards ''Maritime law'' where the French harbour masters and coastguard have a duty NOT to allow overloaded boats to go to sea , they are completely ignoring this law .

Surely the French rescue boat should 'rescue' them in their own waters and take them back to France? If the UK rescue boat takes them to the UK. Or should we start escorting them back for the French to pick up. It really annoys people because some of us can't afford passports to go abroad, especially with a big family of say 7 people, the passport costs would be the price of a holiday.. So we don't go abroad.. and yet these guys pass through maybe 15 countries that aren't trying to kill them.. and then they come here to the UK. We are too soft
