Hemant's intelligence, tech-savvy-ness, and friendly, non-belittling approach is exactly what the Atheist Movement needs more of.

Hermant says that so many of us were/are in sheltered religious families, and I can 100% relate to this ( am now 70 years) being reared a catholic and being in catholic school , so many questions I had were not answered , and I was afraid 😱 to ask others , our lives revolved around going to mass , church , prayers , and the fear of hell ,, I committed so many “sins” I was dammed for ever ,, !! Thankfully realising that people like Hermant and other like minded people (atheist/agnostics) are able to verbalise their ideas , my mind and my peace of mind around my atheism/agnostic way of thinking is at last a very comforting place .

Hemant's RU-vid videos are the first real exposure I had to atheism. "Ten things you should never say to an atheist." I clicked and went down the rabbit hole that lead me to give up Christianity. Huge thank you to him for being honest and friendly!

This is what I love about being part of a secular society. People like Hemant Mehta, Andrew Seidel, Matt Dillahunty, and many others all have the ability to listen to someone else's rational point of view/ or opinions and learn from one another. You cannot give an opinion to christians, muslims, and the other 300 some odd religions that seem to keep growing day by day it seems like, w/o those religious people getting offended, becoming angry, argumentative, and then never fail to bring up how hell and the devil (Natas) has control over your life, and that's why you (talking to me) can't open your heart enough to let god in. Well, I hear all the time "You athiest are just mad at god. And that's why you have turned away from god! I will agree that when the mother of my children took off nearly 700 miles away to W.Virginia, and left me to rot, with no help, depression set in really, and extremely hard, drug use became extreme, started drinking, and to top it off I was ridiculed at work, people called me a piece of shit woman beater, I was a crackhead, meth head, Pill head, and a lying piece of shit that was better off dead. And the roller coaster with the 1000 mile loop da loop is still going hard today. I now need severe mental help, I need tl talk to a therapist. Cause my emotions, my social skills have depleted, even with covid last year. And even though I live in a bible belt state, I will be wearing my mask until I get my vaccine shots, and encourage people to stay safe. But my point is that now I don't believe in a supernatural god that is so called "good", but genocide is one of his best abilities. I stopped going to church when I was 12. I had been saved 4 times by 12, and I wanted to believe. So I walked up to that stage, head and hands on the floor like Mike Myers and/or Dana Carvey in Wayne's world saying "I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy!" But after I stopped going to church because I thought it was extremely cringy when they were singing hymns about genocide, blood sacrifice , and pretty much only talking about the good stuff in the bible, and you never heard about the negatives. After ai quit going I still wasnt having a great life. So years went by with me wanting me to be a "Wanna believez" in god. I know my comment is already too damn long. But I got shit to say damnit,Lol! I won't go into anymore detail about everything else I went through over the last 14 years, and the alst 10 especially. But yeah, at thise times I was so mat at god for not answering my prayers, I wasn't asking for the world. I would pray every night and day asking god to help me get situated, help me take care of my family, please! Yeah I had 2 or 3 incidents that someone could easily say "See, he's workin dem thar miracles in ya life son!" But those situations were gonna happen regardless if I would have prayed. But one day the mother of my kids told me a few days after they left that she had "Prayed to god to get her outnof a bad situation." And yes, I made some huge mistakes that I can't take back. Like blowing money we didnt have, smoking cocaine, takinh pain medications. Those led to fights and after that we both got physical, but me being he type person that tries to bite my toungue, ended up getting over angry. I never punched, or hit their mother in anger with my fist or legs. And even tried to keep my mouth quiet. But she knew what buttons to push. And everytime I would look hard in the mirror. But the mother told me on a phone conversation that she prayed to god, and he saved her. So I was like "Ok, so you didn't pray for me to have my surgery on my massive nutsack hernia, get away from the temptations of drugs ( that we both did at the time. She may be clean and sober. Ins)and pray for me to be in my kids life? "( I am a damn good dad to my kids, I love them and miss them soo much.) So please anyone who wants to be a smartass and say Im a liar or don't deserve to be with my kids, I'd hope you would let me show you the 1000,s of pics of me and my happy kids. Let me get to my point and I'll stop. Im no longer mad at god, Im mad at myself because I let my mother enable me, didn't do the right things, lied and stole money from our selves, and that I basically was cast out as a pile of stanky shat and no one cared about how I felt. That hurt! And to this day It hurts. All this put me in a financial bind that I have no way out of. And their mother knew I couldnt fight. So yeah! I had every goddamn right to be mad at god! Because my mom, grandma, preachers, relatives that were holier than thou always taught me that this life is the test? And we all have reservations in heaven with the almighty. Since then, I have watched Mehta and his everything wrong with the bible exodus story (and waiting on more) and it really put that whole story in perspective. Mehta was exactly right! This god is a fictional, sociopathic, homicidal, jealous, abusive,one loco bendacko

Terrific interview! I’d like to hear Hemant talk about Unitarian churches, which aren’t actually churches, but social justice organizations full of atheists, agnostics, and yes, religious folk.

Herman, I like the message that you joined RU-vid to go to the people more directly than reading, but I see that this video has had less than 1,000 likes in 2 ears. What can we do to attract more attentions? I am a Buddhist, but I arrived there after being an atheist. My Korean husband is a Buddhist, so I joined Buddhism and have experienced little conflict. I became a vegan this past August out of health issues and fears of Covid-19l I am comfortable with my beliefs and with my decisions. What can I do to reduce the conflict that Christians/Muslims[/Jews promote due to proselytizing?

Too bad about the Ebay rules.Selling your soul sounds very profitable (ask a televangelist) if there's a market. Since it is not real, & therefore invisible, the only evidence that the buyer owns it is the buyer's credulity (& maybe a contract signed in blood, and/or some kind of witch doctor ceremony?) Therefore, you could sell it as many times as you like. (Again, ask a televangelist.)
